I've been getting a weekly lymphatic drainage massage to reduce my abdominal post-op swelling.
Thank you for the comprehensive explanation between serums and swelling. 😊
This was super helpful to learn. I go in for surgery this friday!! Scared but excited.
Best doctor in world,, big fan her from Egypt
Hello Egypt 🇪🇬!
How do you get rid of hardness beneath the bellybutton. 2months post op @@DrWilliamMiami
I just love your education ❤️ thank you
Absolutely very well described.....Thumbs up Dr William...Thanks🙏❤️
Thank you my good sir.
What if you have a lump at the top of my stomach after 3 months after surgery could that me my ab muscle can all louse and if so how would it be fixed.
I'm curious on the answer to this question as well. A couple of days after I had my tummy tuck I sneezed and felt like I popped a stitch
How often do seromas actually happen vs swelling? What is more common? Do Seromas ever go away on their own or is extraction of the liquid the only way to eliminate them?
Swelling 100% of the time. Seromas probably 5-10% of the time. Only very small seromas will go away on their own.
Does light massage help swelling/fluid buildup?
Thank you ☺️
Yes they do.
TY Dr. William for this video. I am a trained MLD therapist and I have actually performed post-op massage on several of your clients here in NC (Duke Country) over the years. I'm surprised you didn't define a seroma as "encapsulated" fluid (much like a blister). When I encounter a Seroma I often feel it "pushing back" ie: not able to flow freely. They seem to have edges and jiggle like a water balloon, vs. Interstitial fluid which is often less "free-flowing". Additionally I have mixed feelings on how long the drains need to remain in place post-procedure. What's your criteria for removal?
Seromas are only considered encapsulated when they are chronic but 99% of seromas are acute and are not accompanied by a capsule. I could see why you would say that because they kind of do feel like a water balloon, but that's just because the other areas surrounding the fluid has stuck down to the muscle, but they don't truly have a capsule on them.
What are your criteria for drain removal?
Hi Doctor,
Is this the reason why you should wear your faja for such a long time after a liposuction? Because the body keeps swollen for a long time…
Yes, exactly.
I got a tummy tuck 2 years ago, and the Dr used a syringe to take the fluid out back then, but the little "bump" never went away. Any advise?
I would see your surgeon to get a diagnosis for the "bump".
I love my @Dr.william
In a drain less tummy tuck how is the fluid removed?
Exactly. That's why I use drains.
@@DrWilliamMiami got it…makes sense. Thank you.
Dr. I’m curious, I know you suggest the fibroguard under the faja. How does that fit under the Ogee Faja? Do you have to get a bigger size?
Usually fits without an issue. Patients do not have to upsize their faja.
@@DrWilliamMiami thank you!
Can you have a seroma build up within the fat layer or interstitial space? Just thinking on how a seroma would form under lipo only conditions, if possible (i.e. no tummy tuck). Thanks!
That's a great observation and question. You are exactly right. There are spaces made with liposuction (not interstitial) and they fill with fluid and usually drain out on their own but if they don't drain then they form a seroma.
@@DrWilliamMiami got it, thanks for your response doc!
Is there a pain difference between the two such as different feelings? I had a tummy tuck and after three weeks I started feeling like a stinging sensation only on one side of my stomach near my belly button but had no bumps or redness.
Seromas are usually not painful but just show up as a bulge with a fluid wave to them if pushed.
Can you still have a Seroma a couple years after surgery?
That would be very unusual but I guess it would be possible but very rare.
I had a tummy tuck 2 years ago and I still get hardness on upper abdomen. It comes and goes like a bloated feeling. Is this normal?
That sounds like visceral fat.
@@DrWilliamMiami is this something that can be corrected?
Yes. Just weight loss will fix it.
doctor I had tummy tuck 2 months ago n my stiches are not yet healed. n swollen badly
I would speak to your surgeon.
What happens if a seroma goes untreated?
Can I sleep on my stomach if I get chin lipo & a bbl?
yes
