- The Retevis RT95 is a compact and easy to use dual band HAM radio that can also be expanded to cover GMRS frequencies. This makes the radio versatile for emergency situations. Also, I added a 12v cigar lighter port adapter so that the radio can easily be moved from one vehicle to another. At 25 watts max power it seems to work fine being powered by my 12v port in my Prius. The screen is easy to read in all lighting conditions and all controls are intuitive and easy to use. Audio is loud and clear both receiving signals and transmitting. For the money it’s hard to top this radio. I’ve used radios that were twice the price and not as good an overall package as this RT95.

l've been a licensed ham for over 50 years and have purchased hundreds (yes hundreds!) of VHF and UHF rigs. In my opinion this little radio is a great rig with clean output and superb audio both on transmit and receive. -C5FCC
I agree. For the money they are hard to top!
Band width is the channel spacing; 25K (Wide Band) 20K(Middle Band) 12.5K (Narrow band). Entirely depends on your use case. GMRS has a mix of 20k and 12.5k
I just ordered one of these. Amazon did not tell me it was shipping from Hong Kong lol. Can't wait. Was on sale for $109.99

Had mine for about 4 years and i love it
Have one myself. Love it. Great little radio.
It sure is!
I was on the fence about buying it. I think I'm sold. Thanks!
It’s a nice radio.
VERY well done. Well explained! Subbed!👏🇨🇮🇵🇸
Great and thorough video, thank you!
Muito Bom esse Rádio. Tenho um AT-778UV VOX. Estou gostando muito dele....
I've had one for three weeks now in the shack. I was skeptical, as it is a rebranded Anytone AT-778UVii , and my previous experiences with Anytone were disasters. But I needed a cheap 25 watt rig for the shack and go box, and thought "why not?" Frankly, I'm amazed at how good it is. TX and RX audio are top shelf. The front end can get overloaded in metro areas, but not as bad as many Chinese rigs. Construction is top notch. It punches above its weight class in both durability and performance. If this was my $400 Yaesu, I might have nitpicks, but for a $100 rig, it's a real bargain.
I agree!
@@MidAtlanticTVwhat would be a good antenna to pair with this in the vehicle? Amazon offers an option for radio and antenna.
@@dustinjohnson2116 I have a Larson antenna and it’s really nice.
@@MidAtlanticTV ok where is that ordered from?
@@dustinjohnson2116 I got mine from www.dxengineering.com/
Brilliant description,thank you. Rick, G7VNK.
Glad you liked it. I still use the radio and it works great. Very good value.
Great video! But I do have a quick question. When changing from GMRS to ham frequencies, do you lose the programmed frequencies?
No. You can just add the HAM frequencies.
I received this radio from my wife as a Xmas gift. I currently have this antenna “Authentic Genuine Nagoya UT-72 Super Loading Coil 20-Inch Magnetic Mount (Heavy Duty) VHF/UHF (144/430Mhz) Antenna PL-259, Includes Additional SMA Adaptor for BTECH and BaoFeng Handheld Radios. Which I use with my DB25G. Will this antenna work with my RT95? TIA. 73!
In the software you can enter Ham radio and GMRS repeaters with no problems being cause to transmitting and receiving?
Any chance this thing can listen (RX only) to Air Band?
Not sure.
I'm trying to get it to communicate with chirp on a Mac also... and no luck. What a pain...
Yep I couldn’t do it. Let us know if you figure it out!
What’s the output power on gmrs
I’m not sure. Maybe 20 Watts??
What do you use to power it from home?
Just a 12 V power supply.
You said P1 when you actually held P4?
Sorry.
To bad no one wants to fix the radio when it stops working..
So far mine is working.
Very noisy audio ... i hear both receiver noise (distortion) ... and also noise from the audio- amplifier ... not good.
