Step into the vibrant world of Pinecraft, Sarasota, Florida, where the warmth of the sun meets the warmth of community spirit. It's the middle of January, and the air is filled with excitement as Mennonites from various sects and denominations gather from Pennsylvania, Kansas, Indiana, Ohio, and Florida. They come together not just for a gathering, but for a purpose-to raise money for charity in Robart's Arena at the Florida Haiti Benefit Auction.
Picture this: a lively scene buzzing with energy and camaraderie. A tents stretch around the arena filling the air with the aroma of homemade delicacies-baked goods, preserves, and hearty meals lovingly prepared by the community. Laughter and chatter fill the air as people mingle, sharing stories and forging connections.
Amidst this bustling atmosphere, something catches your eye-Amish on tricycles! Yes, you read that right. In this unique gathering, you'll spot Amish individuals joyfully riding tricycles, a delightful sight that adds a playful touch to the event. It's a testament to the spirit of adaptation and unity, showcasing how traditions can evolve in unexpected ways.
But there's more than just fun and games here. The heart of the event lies in its noble cause. The Florida Haiti Benefit Auction is not just a fundraiser; it's a lifeline for those in need. As you walk through the auction grounds, you'll see people bidding generously on items, not just for their own pleasure, but to make a difference in the lives of others.
Witness the power of community, the joy of giving, and the beauty of traditions coming alive in unexpected ways. It's an experience not to miss, a reminder that in this world, filled with challenges, there's always hope when we come together with love and compassion.

Thanks for the enlightenment, Hertzogs. God bless.
Our pleasure! It was a very learning experience for me as well.
I love this so much!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
I have seen other videos on Pinecraft, where Amish folks told the interviewer that they do things in Pinecraft (like riding motorized golf carts) they they would not be comfortable doing in Lancaster County!
PS. Maybe it's just naivete on my part, but there in something so compelling about the natural beauty and personalities of young Mennonite women.
I think for me I interpret that as purity and optimism. And perhaps not being as obsessed with all the materialism of the English world.
We missed the auction this year in Sarasota sad but it is what it is . We will be at Hope for Haiti !!! That auctioneer is from our area !! He is a singing type for sure !!
It was our first time at the auction! We absolutely loved it and will hopefully go there again.

Not at the moment I will have to ask@@SoIMarriedaMennonite
@@SoIMarriedaMennoniteso you were down here! I heard about the auction the next day at church because we had visitors who had gone to it. Would love to meet up if you come again. I live an hour out of Sarasota
minute 2:50, gentle correction. This is a John Holdeman but not the John Holdeman who separated from the Old Mennonite Church to found the Church of God in Christ Mennonite. John Holdeman founder was born in 1832 and died in 1900, Although, its probably fair to say any given man would have looked similar in Ohio to Kansas in this period. Similar clothing or hair cut.
Yeah, another viewer pointed this out. Thanks for catching that as well. Someone else said that there are no pictures of the original John Holdeman. Although, as you pointed out, he probably would have been similar in dress and look.
2:47 That is NOT the correct John Holdeman. There is no known photograph of John Holdeman (1832 - 1900).
Hmmm it was on a page when I was doing some research. I aumme the page discussing the Holdeman Mennonites was correct. I did not know this. Thanks for pointing it out! It is definitely a sect of the Mennonites I am still learning about!
Pinecraft is a hilarious melting pot.
Truth!
