- HI SISTERS! For today's video, I've decided to give you guys a full review of the brand new Tarte Shape Tape Foundation. This launch was HUGE news in the beauty world, but caused a ton of controversy when Tarte launched the products with an extremely embarrassing shade range. Here's what I have to say. Enjoy.

I agree because even though it would definitely cost more to release 30 foundations they would have a much much larger range of customers than they would have for only fair shades
agreed, but many brands make more than 30 shades with like 20 light/medium shades and only 10 darker shades which usually skip like 2 shades in between each foundation..
They listened to you sis. They now have 30 shades, 15 lighter and 15 darker, so happy everyone spoke up. I may not be dark skin, but I do wish everyone could’ve tried this at the same time.
if you have as much money as tarte or beauty blender and you make a foundation line you better bring it. no excuses.

I've never tried Fenty but my sister who is mixed absolutely loves it. But shes got normal slightly dry skin and mine is so oily it looks like I wash my face in grease. Is fenty better for oily or dry skin?

So, I dont use their products but, i think Fenty beauty products is suitable for any type of skin. Maybe you can apply a small amount of finishing powder on your fave to get ride of the shine, then apply the foundation, apply finishing power (if the foundation appears shiny), then finish with a spritz of finishing spray. Thats my recommendation, but you can do whatever works for you.
I guess also, in the video, James said that the foundation dries really fast and it hid the oil on his skin, so you probably dont need finishing powder before you apply foundation, but again, you do what works for you

I bought it then realized I know NOTHING about this foundation 😂 glad to see they finally launched the new shades and it’s a decent foundation. I didn’t know anything about the range issues in the past! I’ve used the concealer for years. But, I’ve never looked into the foundation

As a dark skinned person who wouldn't match either of the two (orange) shades at the end of the line, I really appreciate you sticking up for us. This launch didn't surprise me at all bc I'm used to brands completely disregarding dark skinned people in their shade range, but I'm really optimistic about the fact that people actually called out the brand this time; maybe makeup companies will actually start taking darker skin tones into consideration rather than forcing us to just put up with two default orange shades.

As a POC, even when tarte decides to diversify the shade range of this foundation, I still won't purchase it due to the fact that they didn't feel the need to include me until they received backlash.

I’m glad James is telling his HONEST opinion about the foundation and not sugar coating it because he loves the concealer so much. This is what people need to hear THE TRUTH so they don’t waste their money on a foundation that doesn’t even come in their shade

@@richardkaye5965 Im not saying they should feel shameful. This isnt the first time this has happened with foundation. So yes I do have a privilege of going and picking out a shade that best suits me in popular make up brands where as a black person may not. Should it be that way? No. But all I can do is be informed and choose to support businesses that have a wide variety of shades for both white and black skin tones and not give my business to those who do not.

Not gonan lie, as a black person the stuff I heard revolving James and stuff he said made me not like him at first. But honestly I'm glad I gave him a chance because now I really like him. Seeing this video and how he stood up and acknowledged his own past mistakes in the process just shows he knows what it's like to say some out the box stuff and be under fire so he knows what he's talking about, but he now does have my utmost respect for acknowledging it in the current situation instead of acting like he's never done something like Tart before like most people would. I admire them owning up and admitting they failed - however, how much can you believe in what they said? ‘we were eager to release this before all shades were ready- we will work hard to finish the shades and release them ASAP regardless of the cost of speeding up that process’ (not exact wording, but that’s the jist of it) ... hard to know if that is a legit statement or damage control- prob a little of both. They did admit to failing big time and alienating a large demographic.. but too little, too late?? 🤔 It isn’t like it’s a big shocker or new revolution that darker skin tones come in more than 2 shades.. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 like someone else said- the emojis have a wider range of color choices 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Aubrielle Robinson although you don't see the same thing happening in reverse when brands like black Opel cater predominately to darker skin you don't see a bunch of fair complected girls flying up in a rage based off of the principle of the matter, I definitely think from a business point of view it would be smart to cover everybody in the shade range but if for sake of argument a particular company just wants to target of particular demographic I don't think that that is wrong they have the right to markets or whoever they want, just like with anything else, you could have a company that only makes a certain type of shoe that only interests mostly a certain type of person or what about socioeconomic inclusion, should Versace start making $10 pairs of jeans so that poor people don't feel left out

If the company doesn't want to take your money then that's better for you just go elsewhere to a company that actually values you as a customer and just MoveOn, just like you don't see a lot of fair girls flying up into a rage if a black Opel releases aligned that is more suited to darker skin tones, or you could even apply the same logic to socioeconomic status, how come nobody is complaining that Versace or Gucci doesn't make things affordable for low income people, nobody cares if somebody pour a can or cannot afford to have access to a similar product for the same product as somebody who can afford the Gucci shoes, you can apply this to any sort of demographic that is excluded and not being properly included, should all products the braille labels?
I definitely think they're from a business point of view it would be smart for them to make colors to suit all skin tones because they would make a lot more money that way but if a company just prefers to market to a particular demographic I don't see that as a negative thing either, it would be like telling Ferrari that they also need to be inclusive and start making minivans to accommodate for big families and start making more affordable cars to accommodate lower income households, of course not, everybody knows the Ferrari doesn't give a fuck about you if you can't afford their car and that's fine, if they want to market to that particular demographic and that is all that that is their choice and that is there right and you have the right to just go elsewhere for you
The same thing for full figured women and the clothing, a company has the right to not make plus size clothing if that's not who they care about marketing to in their market demographic, yeah it sucks for me, as a chubby girl but that is the companies right if forever 21 doesn't want to carry a IIx dress I don't really have the right to be mad I have the right to take my money elsewhere
