VHS and Cassettes all the way
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wise guy.
i am still on the HD DVD train at the moment and rocking a 3D TV
you can't buy them anymore even on the Internet
@@Zero11s what 3D movies or HD DVDS cause i just found 50 HD DVD's for 20 bucks recently and you can still buy 3D movies just saw aqua man for pre order in 3D the only HD DVD's to avoid or test is Warner brother discs even regular dvd's of that time have a high chance of disc rot
Physical media is best!💯
Amen 'Lupita👏

Your collection of bluray movies are amazing
The issue with torrenting is that at least here in the US that’s illegal. So there’s the concern of going to jail/paying a fine. Owning physical media avoids those issues.
Thanks!
Physical media over digital, all day. I own close to 900 movies - mostly DVD, but have a lot of blu rays and one or two 4K films. There’s no way in hell all my films are available in one place online. I love having a physical collection I can look at and browse, and I’m happy to be safe in the knowledge that all my library is mine to own and enjoy whenever I want.
If you use torrents you'll get all of that and more in one location, but yeah most streaming services are frustratingly limited, can't find what you're looking for.
There's tons of content only available on VHS and DVD.
@@MoviesNGames007uk It's all on torrent

@@withnail-and-i what happens if the hard drive housing those torrents dies?
I agree..must have disc. Picture and audio is always better
It's funny to listen to a guy give reason to buy 4k while he speaks next to a pile of fake 4k for the most.. Special effects obliged,
the film is mastered in 2k ... that's 90 % of what comes out in "4k"...
4k disc aren't just about resolution. It's also about HDR and immersive audio. Also more and more film are being released using 4k masters.
@@Uomodargilla Some companies, like Disney, only put the Atmos track on the 4k version.
@13randon 13axter Most movies are mastered in 2K, or 4K at the most. Unless the media has some other benefit, 8K would not provide any additional resolution.
Adrian Torres 100 percent audio is the big one for me but the 4K discs I’m starting to really enjoy the picture too.
Great video totally agree with everything you said I’m a 4K / blu ray man all the way I love actually owning my movies physical media forever
IF YOU HAVE A GOOD SURROUND SOUND RECEIVER AND SPEAKERS ALL IM SAYING IS FURRY OR SAVING PRIVATE RYAN WITH SOME EVEREST THROWN IN FOR GOOD MESURE!😉👊
1.. The Chinese will pick up the slack for UHD players. As we are seeing in the 4K TV space, TCL and Hisense are making an Impact. Korean and Japanese brands have competition.
2.. Today is a snowy day in NJ so it seems a lot of people are home and are apparently on the internet streaming because my bandwidth has tanked. Shows that are 4K on Netflix are streaming as 1080p.
If you love high-quality video and sound, you'll support physical disc until you die.
1. I didn’t think of someone else picking up the mantle! That gives me hope, thanks!
2. The perfect day for streaming ruined by other people with the same idea. 😁😁
The Japanese and Korean brands are already made in China.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist Its a high end expensive option, but Pioneer does have a Universal 4K player, the UDP-LX500 from what I've read its built like a tank, very quiet, and is an awesome 4K player.

And you like bloodborbe....I see you have great taste
@@bbcraz1226 thanks. I bear that game at least 7 times lol
Jay Just Games same
@mrbrainchild76 if you download games and the publisher loses the rights to those games then technically you lose the right to play that game too. You only buy the right to play games when you buy digital games.
For example, Activision and Beenox lost the rights to Spider-Man games.
This means if you bought games like the Amazing Spider-Man 2 digitally then you can't play them anymore unless you still have it downloaded on your hard drive. You can no longer buy it digitally and if you delete it from your hard drive you cant download it anymore.
Another great example is the PT demo. It was removed from PSN by Konami and can no longer be played unless you have it installed on your PS4. PS4's that have this demo installed go for amazingly high prices online.
This is why physical media is amazing and still superior for games, just like the point brought up in this video, you own the disc, you own the game.
Sure, nowadays many games come with updates that must be downloaded digitally so if services go down your disc game may be "incomplete", but it's better than having no game at all.
If you want to invest in digital games make sure you have a hard drive with a LOT of space that can store all of them, you never know when a publisher might go down and you dont have the digital game you got from them downloaded so you lose it for eternity.
Physical disc are the same price as digital for the most part. And most times you get the digital code with your physical disc so it's always a win to buy physical
Exactly. Pretty dumb and lazy to buy digital when you can lose it in years or something happens. You got them all with physical. And sometimes I get better deals on the movie disk then paying for the digital. So you got like 2-3 back-ups plus disk is better quality no matter what people say. I've tested it on 3 new tv's I bought for house Sony X900F, Samsung Q8FN. I even bought 4K Infinity War in Digital to test while buying the 4K disk. The blu-ray was identical if not slightly better and the 4K destroyed the 4K download.
I couldn't agree more with ALL of your points. I have never, and will never watch anything streaming. My wife has commented many times that I need to stop buying movies on disc and watch them on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I'll continue to do what I've been doing for years now. I have a 3,000+ movie library and not going to stop now or ever.
keep spreading this word my friend.
😁😁 I’m trying!
@Dreamstate Just shut up about your torrent bullshit..
Dude, you are so right. Saw the title and clicked immediately. I never stopped buying them and I’ll keep buying as long as I can get them. Just putting this out there. Just in case anyone want to get rid off their physical media I’ll take it all. For free of course 😂
😁😁😁
I’ve been a Blu-Ray collector since 2014 and a 4K Ultra HD collector since 2017 and I love Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra HD and I will keep collecting them.
Awesome video! I agree 100% on owning physical media. I buy all mine when they go on sale. Target just had buy 2 get 1 free. Buy some off eBay.
I HAVE ALOT OFF BLUE RAYS AND SOME 4KUHD BLUE RAY SECOND HAND OF AMAZON,AS LONG AS YOU BY USED NEARLY KNEW.AS SOME PEOPLE WATCH FILMS ONCE OR TWICE THEN SELL THEM ON TO MUSIC MAGPIE OR OTHER BIYERS,LIKE NEXT WEEK IM BYING GLADIATOR 4K UHD FOR £13.50P,IVE SEEN IT UP FOR £40.00P BRAND KNEW ON AMAZON.A PENNY SAVED IS A,PENNY EARNT.L.O.L.👊😉
Great video! I love having physical copies of my movies. It's so much better and plus my internet here is bad so I can't truly enjoy the 4K experience without a disc.
Poor connectivity is another reason I didn’t adequately address in the video but definitely a reason to buy physical media, thanks for watching!
Physical media is always better than digital. Just like wired headphones will always be better than bluetooth.
physical media is digital, bad wired headphones are still bad even with wire, so no
@@fullalbums5675 Huh?
@@tastycookiechip nothing, move on
FULL ALBUMS physical media is digital with higher bitrate. Streaming is highly compressed digital. Soooo Physical media wins 😄
I only use wired headphones, but there are good and bad quality headphones. It's not only the wires which matter to the sound quality of headphones. The overall build and the speakers and how they are made and tuned matter as well.
Long live Physical Media! Ugh, I hate that everything is going digital. I've had several of my mp3 albums that I purchased on Amazon no longer show up on my digital purchases. Luckily I downloaded them and saved them to a hard drive. But they would be gone forever and I'd have to repurchase them. With digital movies I don't believe you even have the option to download them and save them to a hard drive. And your correct, with Blu-ray you get the best picture and you don't have to worry about bandwidth dips. Another thing to mention is internet prices continue to rise and in order to watch movies in 4k/1080p you need to have a higher tier plan. With physical media you don't need the internet to watch.
Agreed! I didn’t go into pricing but overall time it will be more expensive with a selection that is basically chosen for you by the provider. Thanks for commenting!
You can download your digitally purchased movies. I downloaded all mine from iTunes and store them on an external hard drive. I just stream the movie from iTunes itself in the meantime.
@@demonicaxeman7264 I've never used iTunes. I'll have to double check my Amazon account to see if I have the option to download to an external hard drive. I once bought a digital movie that was not available on Blu-ray but I did not see an option to download. If I wanted to watch it I had to stream it. I have really good internet but I just hate to think that one day I'll NEED internet in order to watch my purchased movies. But if I can download them I'll be little happier. Although I still prefer Physical Copies.
Physical media over streaming any day!
You inspired me to start my own collection. I love 4K, couldn’t agree with you more!
I’ve done the same, I’ve started building out my 4K library. I think it’s awesome
Colby S 4k has 4 times the quality than BluRay
George Grimwood that’s true.
George Grimwood just like some consumer can barely see the difference between DVD and blue ray
George Grimwood I can but you can’t
I really miss renting physical media. It was a great experience just taking your time selecting a movie or show. You also get to see other people doing the same and it adds to the fun.
Great point. I miss this experience so much!
Yep the video store is missed by many! I saw an article this week about the last Blockbuster on the planet
Im glad you brought up the importance of owning the content. One thing a lot of people don't know is that different countries own different distribution rights for specific movies. My buddy who lives in Canada told me that one day, a bunch of his movies just disappeared from his video library because the distribution contracts expired (or something like that) and they were no longer allowed to own the digital versions of those films in Canada.
Yeah, physical media is the way to go. Everything you said is 100% true! Way higher quality in video and audio, special features plus you own your discs.
It's sad how many people trust that large corporations won't screw them over. These people either don't remember or don't know about Netflix trying to gouge their customers back in 2009 by doubling their rates over night, simply, because they could. They only back paddled when 2/3 of their customers canceled their service.
Never, ever give up your rights to control your media how you want!
Here in india, my friends laugh when i buy blu ray, they say that: who buys discs nowadays, can watch online, can download torrents, etc etc. but only a movie lover knows the quality of a content in blu ray disc vs the quality of content in torrentz. Me as an audio lover i want that original audio from that discs :)
Yea I’ve talked to folks who have similar comments then they rush to watch content before Netflix removes it at the end of the month and I smile.
Home Theater Hobbyist haha
13randon 13axter Hellooo, I just rip movie not extras. And by the way the movie which you download from torrent is already compressed a lot. And original audio is also compressed.
@13randon 13axter which player is best to play bluray orriginal version in pc? i mean along with menu
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist streaming is one thing but buying is another...you do know that you can buy any movie in the same quality and own it forever online right?
I used my Panasonic Blu-ray player for 10 years. Just got an amazing deal on the Sony UBP-X800. Long live physical media!
Jacob Frey A got a nice Sony 4K player good build quality it’s quite until you eject the disc tray but I like it it’s simple plays the disc all I use it for yes it has apps you can download on it like Netflix and You Tube Spotify I don’t care just plays my discs and dose good job at it.
IVE GOT THE SONY UBP-X500 AND ITS ONE BRILLIANT LITTLE 4KUHD BLUE RAY PLAYER AS MY TV IS 4K HDR10 AND SO IS MY PLAYER.😁😉
Ryan S do you know if an actual 4K blu ray player is better than a Xbox one S, that is what I have
I’m still an avid consumer of physical media. I absolutely love my library of discs. 💿📀
I totally agree with you! All your points are basically my thoughts exactly, you just better articulated them than I would have, lol! Thanks for this video.
Cool video man! And so happy to see videos like this being created.. I love the physical format and will always purchase movies on disk, to hear that in about 5 years time physical media may be no more really saddens me... for me you don't truly own the movie you love until you have it in your hands, so you can see and touch the artwork... digital pales in comparison when it comes to quality also. I've only just started my 4k collection as its still quite pricey, but like yourself aim for the deals/offers. Long live physical media!
Physical discs without a doubt, dont like all this streaming its know where near as good as the proper disc, same goes for music streaming, I buy the cd rather than stream.
*nowhere *it's
Hi Gerald! For your convenience, so you can fix your comment and re-post it, I've corrected your spelling and punctuation errors. You're welcome!
*Literate version:* Physical disks without a doubt. Don't like all this streaming, it's nowhere near as good as the proper disk. Same goes for music streaming. I buy the CD, rather than stream.
Gerald Dyas While physical 4k Blu-ray’s are undoubtedly better, saying that the streaming version is “nowhere near” as good is just ignorant. The data consumption of said 4k streams say otherwise.
As for music, also ignorant. I have a 2 Rockford Fosgate Amplifiers in my car with one 500 watt amp going to my rear 6x9’s, door 6.5” and door tweeters and the other amp is pushing 1,500 watts to 2 12” Sundown Audio SA12’s in a sealed box in the trunk of my 2014 Camaro SS.
Let me assure you that Apple Music sounds absolutely amazing when either streaming or playing downloaded music on the 2,000 watt stereo and plenty of other people’s hat I don’t know agree when they told me they can’t believe how clean my system sounds.
@@goldenstarro3143 I prefer "Grammar Hitler".
@@ThisGuyDrives I agree, Mp3's sound just as good as CD's in the car, but on my home Hi-Fi, not as good. Also listening to a lossless Blu ray soundtrack (in a film)with a higher bit rate than CD's is just something else. Even 4k streaming can't match a high end player with a Blu ray disc in it, let alone a 4K disc.

Wonderful content. Well spoken and enjoyable to watch. Subscribed and fight to keep physical media alive.
I have over 100 4k uhd and 3d movies . Nothing can beat that quality its even better then a lot of cinema with the right set
Same here. I've got over 130 4k movies. Love the picture quality
Thanks for supporting the format!
Most of 4K is a con, very few are truly native 4K. Nothing wrong with 1080p
@@dmomcilovic9185 Some look great and others look terrible with awful color grading
Thank you for mentioning the rights issues! Because any studio can have a falling out with Apple, Netflix etc and pull all their content from that service and you're stuck not being able to watch your purchased content. A very similar situation happened to myself on Steam. I couldn't play a game I purchased because the studio pulled it from the service! It was eventually restored, but the fact remains that for that time it was just GONE and there was nothing I could do about it. So thank you for this sorely needed PSA!
It will be a very sad day if we ever lose physical media.
Really appreciate this video and totally agree with you. You hit on what I think are the most important points. To me it is also a pleasure to collect and have the art.
Wow! What an amazing informative video. Thank you so much🙏
Thanks for watching and you’re welcome!
Good video. You are spot on. Streaming services NEVER give the same audio and video quality as a physical disc. I have gone back to buying discs again the last years due to this. Ultimate quality.
Blood Carver you can see this in stuff like Blue Planet. The compressed video can't handle the ocean colour gradient underwater so you get bad artifacts
13randon 13axter
I’d rather contribute to keeping the format alive.
I love the effort you put into the videos man!!
Thanks!
Great video, man! I subscribed because you seem like a great guy with a lot of insight to share. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. I fully agreed when it comes to Visual & Sound Quality. A disc will definitely more enjoyable especially when you have a whole home theatre system set up..... Cheers
Thanks!
Great video explanation.
I like both and try to get disk + digital when. I can. There is no denying the quality of physical media
I completely agree! One of my channel’s main focuses is on physical media. I love the slipcovers, being able to look at my movies, hold them and build a movie collection. I will always buy physical copies of movies. I tend to buy books too vs kindle because I love to hold a book while I read. I love used books as well :). CDs I don’t buy as often unless I love the cd, but in general I’m physical media all the way!! Great video! Thanks for bringing more awareness to this subject matter :).
I completely agree with you. I'm glad UA-cam recommended this. I've been buying things lately because they haven't been on the streaming sites, etc. If I can't find it online but still want to watch it, it doesn't cost too much to just buy it online.
I totally agree with you!!!
It’s a win win situation buying physical media.
Great video!!!
Thanks!
Great video! I totally agree. I keep buying a lot of physical media movies, CD's, and video games while I can. I hope it continues and keeps continuing, but I am doubtful. Maybe a video on CD's and that they sound better than digital files cause they're not compressed. Another good reason is that you can turn CD's into digital files and alway have the back up. Another reason for physical discs is if the internet is down you can't stream, but can put your physical disc in your player and watch without the internet. Lastly, I can go over alot more movies on a shelf then using a remote to go through each title. Again, great video!
Thanks!
Great video! I always encourage folks to look at physical discs and players. I think the ownership angle is underrated.
Like you said, if these large companies hit choppy waters or have disputes, then we may lose access to content we paid for.
Thanks 🙏🏾
Great video and content! 👍🏾to “On yesterday” loved that.
Thanks!
Rights management is the main reason I rip my own stuff rather than buy digital stuff. Plus, stuff like VUDU and Ultraviolet felt like corporate adware. I didn't want them to have access to my computer to be seeing what I'm watching or when. It's overly paranoid, but in the digital age, it's worthwhile.
I agree with what HTH has said, I like my DVDs, like a book something you can hold and own, a nice cover, you open the dvd there is a sleeve or booklet with programme and episode notes, very useful, especially with older classic films and tv shows.
Ive had my Samsung Blu-ray Disc player 17 months and connected to my UHD/HDR tv the dvd picture is superb, the player also upscales a Standard Definition dvd disc.
Ive noticed more films being newly remastered in HD from the original negatives and proper aspect ratio, specifically for the dvd/blu-ray market, colour & b/w, so there is still a good dvd/blu-ray market for enthusiasts.
Great video man!
Keep them coming!
Thanks!
Ive been buying 4k discs since 2016 and ive never looked back! Just amazing!! My first player was the very first Samsung, but then i purchased the Panasonic UB820, then i was just blown away! Great video man!
Thanks!
I still use dvd and cd.
Me.to
.the other day started buying them again
LOL
Some content I only have on DVD so I still use it too!
13randon 13axter If you think it’s so stupid you should just stop watching them. You know what you’re doing is illegal right?
I agree with You Buddy! Me personally being a Psychical Media person cause I’ve always grown up with VHS, DVD, HD DVD, Blu-ray And 4K Blu-ray Ultra HD I’ll prefer Psychical media, The reason I don’t like stream like Hulu and Netflix because sometimes the movies you want to watch aren’t there anymore its only a matter of time before they change their movie titles.
They could reissue the discs at a discount.
Does any VOD provider offer download for your 4k movies at an UHD bitrate?
Preach. Laziness of not getting up to open a disc and inserting the disc. After streaming 4K for a month, I put a 4K disc in my Oppo and was blown away by the great quality and huge difference in the picture. Cheap key codes will continue to impact physical media. There will be challenges moving forward for physical media. I agree with you and hope it survives.
When the power goes out, your downloads go too. I have a dvd player and can watch a movie for about 2 hours in the darkness.
Eventually, I will get a Sony portable Blu Ray player as well.
I have been switching to Blu Ray and have around 200 movies in that format, but still have DVD's because some films have never gone to Blu Ray.
Will never sell off hard copies ,,, my crappy internet supplier has put me on a weaker signal ,,, so streaming is harder
your 4th reason, was the really the ONLY reason people need to buy physical media. This is why I have my 200+ discs collection and growing. (Though I do also have a 300+ digital library..)
Exactly, can honestly be so compliment in wanting to give over your digital media ownership rights to other companies and trust that they won't sell or no longer renew rights to your favorite movies and tv shows?
I couldn’t of agreed with you more totally the correct way to get your films if you’re into that cinema feel, here in the UK we try to wait until the sales or online offers.
Excellent video! You make very good points and have further convinced me to get a 4K UHD blueray player
Sweet! Thanks for watching!

I totally agree streaming content is not a good choice. Buying a DVD or Blu-ray or a 4k uhd Blu-ray is the way to go. I certainly will continue to buy them as long as the format continues for sale.
Thanks for commenting
Home Theater Hobbyist - you hit it out of the park. Great video.
Thank you!
I agree totally. I have purchased many steelbooks over the years and used to upload videos showing the artwork, extras, etc. I stopped uploading due to negative comments from people who prefer to stream their content. I still collect blu-rays and steelbooks but haven't got on board the UHD format yet as I am waiting to see if it gets discontinued (heaven forbid) or prices reduce significantly. Great Video.
Thanks!
Even though I haven't upgraded to 4k blu ray, I agree with all your points. As one of few subscribers of Netflix's blu ray mail in program, the benefits of a physical media is tremendous if coupled with a surround sound system. I find myself not missing the movie theater because I can just wait a couple of months, and new releases will be available (with better food that I prepare!). If I like them, as you mentioned, Thanksgiving and Christmas sales provide an opportunity to save a few dollars.
Totally understand, even now and then I contemplate signing back up for the Netflix mailing plan 😁
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist The blu ray mail in Netflix is a cost effective way to watch titles you have no intention of buying or are not available on kiosk rentals. Those who rent at least weekly through kiosks would save money if they can mail discs the next day!
Yea I used to do Netflix disc but I’m not able to watch movies weekly so it stopped being cost effective. I do rent disc when I can to try things out before I buy them.
Yea, with how movie places can have too many distraction with cells and any chatter that it ruins the fun of watching movies if u try focus on what u seeing. i know they still get traffic, but guessing many more just get a home setup so can watch a movie and enjoy it and just turn off cell till ready to answer it after the movie. i barely go to movie places just the same unless out with others any. so i enjoy at home with my own setup anytime.
@@cable30 Like you the chatter and constant phone checking annoys me when watching movies. I also don't go to movies as much (last one I saw was "Rogue One"). The final straw was when I calculated that a $17 a month mail in blu ray Netflix subscription brought in more utility and is less expensive than one matinee ticket + small popcorn or soda + gas money for the trip.
I love owning shows on bluray or DVD. I watch a lot of anime which often times goes out of print or streaming sites will just drop the show. Having physical media guarantees that you have that show anytime you want to view it as long as you take care of the player and disc.
Hi! Is it possible to watch the original quality 4K movies from blu-ray.com or anywhere else in order not to loose in quality like compressed 4k content from Netflix and others and also to avoid keeping these massive movies on my hard drives?Or currently we probably can't get the same video and audio quality watching online like with physical 4k disks ? Ootherwise we will need turns off storages in future.
New subscriber. 100 percent agree and with the UHD discs of A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody, these discs are now recreating the theatrical experience now. I think the boutique companies for blu ray are keeping it going strong. Streaming takes the place of going to Blockbuster. But I want to own. And with Atmos, I don’t have an Atmos system, but even my Surround system, the sound still feels immersive.
Saying streaming, like Netflix, takes the place of Blockbuster is a great analog
I'm gonna keep buying 4k discs,
Love my collection.
I hate streaming..I dont even use streaming devices. Disc will give you the best viewing experience, U own it and they will never die!
How does ripping 4K Blu Rays compare streaming? I love my collection but I’m keen to save space or at least have my collection somewhat hidden but still have good access to it around the house!
I used to buy all my movies on ITunes in 4K hdr before and i have always been a film buff and video enthusiast. The compression caused green black levels and macroblocking which destroyed the movies for me. I have upgraded to 4K blurays now and it’s 10x better!!! The hdr looks brighter, has deeper black levels, no macroblocking or visible compression ever!!! I also didn’t know how much better my 5.2 would sound on 4K blurays! Everything is amazing now with 4K blurays. I have picked up Jurassic world fallen kingdom, house with a clock in it’s Wall, terminator genysis, Blade runner 2049, bad times at the el royale with more. All Of which have looked and sounded awesome!
I agree I have bought every mcu and every movie I own on vhs/dvd/blu ray/4k
I’ll always buy physical media if possible. Only if the TV show I want isn’t out on Blu-Ray will I then buy the seasons off iTunes.
I just have one question: is that the good mummy movie or the newer one?
Cool video. Thanks for the info about Ultravoilet.
will always buy physical. Great video man!
Even Blu-Ray is better image quality than Netflix 4K.
Keep in mind that Netflix 4K uses the newer, more efficient codec that is HEVC (aka H.265). For any given quality level, it only needs about half the bitrate that H.264 (used by regular Blurays) needs. So it's not as simple as higher bitrate = better. You have to consider other factors like the codec (as well other video encoding settings that you can learn about on the Handbrake wiki).
alvallac21 Yes but still comes down too internet speed frame drops compression Netflix uses. Netflix content is really compressed so it can be loaded and streamed smoothly across anyone’s setup. Blu Ray is still compressed as well but not as much and if you factor in that a Blu Ray disc will play how it’s presented 100% of the time where a movie on Netflix will suffer from dropped frames compression and people connection speeds. It’s no where near the quality of a disc he’ll no where near the quality of a 4K disc
I agree I have 1gbps and the 4k netflix vs bluray they are pretty much identical. The only time i see better 4k is if you buy or rent movies on apple or vudu then you can see the difference but the another difference will be the audio quality blu ray provides bolby true hd + atmos VS Dolby digital plus atmos there is a significant difference, its not just the video but audio immersion to really enjoy a movie.
boycott Netflix
Very persuasive arguments. I agree completely. We have slightly unreliable broadband at home so streaming is not always great. It's reassuring when watching a blu-ray that the picture will always look perfect and it does look better than when streaming!
Great video with helpful content. Totally agree. Been focusing on BD and 4K when available. Didn't know about UltraViolet. Sucks. But most or all of my stuff is already in VUDU, and Movies Anywhere.
Thanks again for this. Keep up the great work.
Thank you!
Physical media all the way, CD, LaserDisc, DVD, HD DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, 4K Blu-ray.
I have over a thousand Blu-ray movies should I go out and buy a couple more Blu-ray players just in case ???
😂😂😂
I would look for a Cambridge UHD player.
Heavy investment but you won't regret it as the people who postponed buying OPPO player did.
It is definitely investment grade at $1800!
if you play games, XBOX 1 X and PS4 play Blu ray
You’re my hero! Subscribed!!

Good points. I started collecting movies a long time ago. Late nineties i think it was. First DVD, in 2007 i bought myself a PlayStation 3 with the intent to watch Blu Ray's. So then movies on Blu Ray. And about a year ago i purchased a Sony UBP-X800 and now have about 7-8 4K ultra HD Blu Ray's. I also have a Netflix 4K subscription and Videoland-on-demand, but for the real movie experience, i use discs.
Awesome video. I support the physical format and definitely Sanford & Son lol.
😁😁
I got Logan 4K on Black Friday for 9.99 😎 Best Buy ever last year 👍🏾
I’ve found Black Friday to have the best deals on disc especially the more expensive ones.
I saw one of these players at my local Walmart 2 weeks ago. I don't recall the maker, but I had never seen a 4K player.
Will take a note of it the next time we go there.
I’m potentially thinking about a blue ray player but idk where to start. Got any ideas on which one I must consider?
UHD players may be relatively expensive, but Blu-Ray players are very affordable, and the difference in picture quality going from Blu-Ray to UHD is negligible to imperceptible unless you have a very big TV and you sit very close to it. I have a 65" 4k TV and sit about 9' away, and though there is a perceptible difference between 4k and 1080p, it's a small difference, and only there in A/B comparisons. Additionally, as the Hobbyist alludes to, streaming sources are more highly compressed than physical media, which results, in my experience, in 1080p Blu-Ray looking better in most cases than a 4k stream.
And if you have any modern game console, you already have a Blu-Ray player.
As for cost, if you don't want pay the premium for buying new Blu-Rays or UHD discs, there are rental options available. Netflix is still relatively cheap and has a huge selection. Redbox is convenient, but has poor selection and higher prices. I have a Family Video store near enough that renting locally is convenient for me as well. And if you do buy new discs, there are ways to mitigate the cost. A UHD package generally comes with two discs, UHD and Blue-Ray, or if you buy Blu-Ray, it often comes with an additional DVD, and in both cases you usually get a digital download code. When I buy a UHD package, I can generally get a significant portion of the purchase price back by selling the second disc and the download codes online. The above mentioned Family Video rental chain is based on this economic model - they buy commercially packaged discs, split the contents and rent them separately and sell the download code, then sell the extra discs at a big discount after the "new release" window has passed.
HDR makes a huge difference
Yes sir!!!
I completely agree.
I have no interest in paying for an endless subscription and own nothing.
Great video. I completely agree!!!
I agree 1000 percent. And you always have a backup if you want to rip them. This goes for music cds as well. Great points !!!
Thank you!
Physical Media all day. Netflix and Amazon are fine for certain content. But for movies I'll always go with physical media.
PHYSICAL DISC 100%
at last someone with sense..great video
Thank you. Quick and straight to the point.
Thanks!
I prefer physical media anyway since I don’t have internet connection. I also don’t have to worry about getting a Blu-ray player because my Xbox one S plays Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray.
Same as My one x! :D
On top of that, you can’t really get the sort of quality audio and video, over streaming. There along way to go for that yet.
Many of vudu's movies have atmos audio. I really can't tell much difference on my klipsch 5.1.2 system.
Sir Jon Smith IIII did say quality, not quantity, there are many movies, even just on Netflix, with atmos, but even I can hear, that there is a difference, it will be better to buy physical media for a long time yet. 👍🏻👍🏻
13randon 13axter well, that’s illegal, and no doubt comes nowhere near the quality of a physical disc. Way to do the movie industry a solid👍🏻. Good luck not getting caught.
Dude I love your voice thx for the presentation
Excellent intuitive video!!!!
Thanks!
