  • At the insistence of the 24 year old grandson, the Guglielmi family has re-started harvesting their prized orange blossoms two generations after the family patriarch was forced to shut down the operation in order. Now Pietro and family are producing what Slow Food has dubbed a Ligurian delicacy: Bitter Orange Blossom Water.

The art of the Bitter Orange Blossom Water is simply beautiful. I hope this continues to be a lucravite and life long tradition carried through more generations for this family.

Orange blossom is probably the most wonderful fragrance out there in the natural world. Along with Jasmine and Plumeria.

Did you know that if you take some hot water and add a teaspoon of orange blossom water to it at bedtime and drink it it definitely will help make you drowsy

Got to learn something useful about the amount of essence a flower has and I have an orange tree with VERY fragrant orange blossoms currently. I want to make what I stumbled upon called orange blossom rose water.

Thank you for making and sharing this video! I just discovered orange blossom water, got me a bottle from Whole Foods, I use it as a skin toner for face and body, and it is amazing!! I'm wondering why more people don't use this for skin. It shrinks pores and makes my skin look lively! I want some of THIS Italian family's prized orange blossom water! :) ♥

Great lil documentary. Wonder how you differentiate the pure essential oil from the orange blossom water...coz in the video he separates the oil...but later it shows water being bottled and water added to pastry butter...are those 2 separate products obtained from the orange blossoms? I wonder if orange blossom essential oils smell different from the essential oils from orange peels and whether orange peel water, if there's any such thing, can be substituted for orange blossom water in pastries?

The orange essential oils floats over the orange flower water - as it is a by-product of its distillation: Orange flower water, or orange blossom water, is the clear, perfumed by-product of the distillation of fresh bitter-orange blossoms for their essential oil.
