I've been watching a lot of Celtics games on UA-cam, and Bird's outside shooting was better in '88 than in any other season.
Bird was the greatest
Oh you bet he is....there'll never be another player like him
Bird was so good he made #42 look like McHale
definitely a forgotten series die hard Celtic fan obviously Karry Joe fanatic but born in 77' so I'm 11 yrs young watching this series and it slipped my mind. never look it up. Hate to be redundant but we ALL think the same thing after 1986 Arguably greatest squad ever. These 87'-88' years we still had championship desires to believe. Then early 90's I started attending the games and I knew I was witnessing the end of era. RIP Len Bias Reggie #35 & my favorite #3 D.J.
I’d become a Celtic fan at age 10 (1982). Yea the early 90s and the old guard was more old than guard. Father Time is undefeated. What an era it was. Not only for ☘️, but the entire NBA.
It's really amazing the Knicks never won it all. They had such great players. One of the greatest centers ever, probably the most underrated PG of all time (Jackson), and a plethora of great role players.
A plethora on the bench.
They were great. But the Eastern Conference throughout that era was so much tougher than the West.
-Detroit Bad Boys
-Boston was still good
-Chicago rising
-Atlanta always tough
-Milwaukee solid
-Philly faded, but tough
Any team that did survive the Beatdown in the East to make the finals then had to face a fresh legged Showtime Lakers who always breezed through the WEAK West. 🧹🧹🧹
Should have never got rid of Jerry schisting.
great era, I didnt know DJ was still active in 1988. He and Mark Jackson are so underrated
DJ left Celtics after 1988/89 season...
DJ left after the 1989-90 season when he retired from the L
Seeing Jim Paxson instead of Danny Ainge out there in big games is still hard to take to this day. And I'm a fan of both Joe Kleine and Ed Pickney.
And Reggie Lewis
At this point the Knicks were much younger, faster, more athletic... BUT
☘️ The Old Guard was still in tact. Less dunking, more lay ups 🤣
But Bostons experience, team chemistry, fundamentally sound play, superior shooting and passing. It’s a beautiful thing to watch iQ defeat physical superiority sometimes. In the later 1980s with Boston it was a lot more often than just sometimes.
“They’re only down 15 points” as opposed to the usual 20’point blow out
Was there a doubt? Checkers vs 3D chess
Not Reggie Lewis in 1988???
KC Jones just didn't play rookies I guess !! In 88 when Bird McHale and Parish were playing 45 minutes and other guys like Marc Aces Brad Lohous Paxson were getting minutes while Reggie sat on the bench.
The 88 Celtics ! Too much Paxson Lohous Acres and Gilmore - and not enough Reggie Lewis !!
Only 4 rebounds!? Bird's back was not good at all
Fernando Trindade but career average was 10 a game....
They're (Knicks) only down 15 pts. 🤣
They should count their blessings, they're not down by 30.
Larry Bird was and is the greatest all around player in the history of the nba and Magic was close behind. Period!
1st
any Russo is alright with me.
Larry Bird was the best all-around player in NBA history
