Milak will be the WR holder in both the 100 & 200 Fly by 2019 Worlds, if not by Tokyo 2020. His body is about as aerodynamically designed to glide through the water as any has ever been. Couple that with excellent technique & increase in strength & endurance. A no brainer. Phelps was 1:53.93 at 18 years 1 month, Milak is 1:53.87 at 17 years 6 months.
Dressel first. Milak is just so young. Imagine if he went to a college in the US like Texas or Florida. Dressel will break the 100m fly, but maybe, MAYBE at 2020 Milak could edge him out. No matter what, Hungary is stacked with talent with Kenderesi, Nemeth, and Milak all together who could eventually even rival the U.S. I do agree that Milak will win the 200 fly, but I can't see him break a world record before Tokyo. That record is insane.
I definitely can see Milak breaking a WR (or 2) before Tokyo. Dressel dropped from 52.2 to 49.8 in 2 years. Milak is already 50.6 at 17. From 17 to 20 he's only going to get stronger and he has a uniquely streamlined physique - minimal resistance + excellent technique (which I think for now is the main reason he's so fast at 17). Definitely an excellent possibility to drop 1+ second in 3 years at 17, certainly better than Dressel at 20/21.
I'm not arguing that Milak can't go 49.8. What I'm saying is that if Dressel breaks it and keeps beating Milak until Tokyo, then he can't break it. I'm not talking about his form. I could talk about Dressel's potential all day. I'm not sure if you know what 1:51.51 MEANS. 1:54 is insanely fast. Nobody is getting close to that until Tokyo or 2019, and I doubt he will break it. Don't get me wrong, I want to see him succeed, but nobody has even went 1:52 in the past 2 years.
I'm a huge fan of Dressel and he will doubtless score a number of medals in Tokyo, but for his age Milak is the most talented flyer ever. Dressel's nearly 4 years older than Milak, which is insane as he just turned 21. Currently their margin of difference is 0.76 seconds, and the improvement arc is in Milak's favor. I'm rooting for Dressel, but a very tall task indeed told at bay Milak.
He is better with 1 sec than Phelps when he was in the same age..Fantastic talent!!
No, not quite, but he is 7 months ahead of Phelps at the same time performance.
Peter 85 he’s only about a tenth faster and 7 months younger than Phelps 18 year old time.
No he is better.
He just broke the world record!!

He did great! but his start... was that not a DQ?
