Matrix Fierce Ed Rush & Optical pretty much are the embodiment of drum & bass. They are the lead progenitors of the culture, defined boundaries that haven't really been tested and broke new sonic ground more so than almost any other genre of music or sound arrangement.
That and producing seminal albums for both Goldie & Grooverider kind of puts them in an untouchable place for me really.

You can hear the Virus influence in the cybernetic funk.
I love Matrix even more than ER&O.
