Mahmmood II has very powerful and personal reasons for this drastic move When he was a child or a teen in 1808 there was a Janissary revolt he was then the Ottoman crown Prince and janissaries entered Topkapi palace and he had to hide inside the room of a kalfa or servant who saved his life in the harem that i believe he never forgave or forget what the jannusary did and he decided that if he became sultan, he will finish them off foreverand thats what he did

      1. Sultan Mahmud II Han Hz (RA) was not an idiot or a weak ruler at all.
      2. If a Khalifa or even just a righteous Muslim ruler was to make mistakes or something you don’t call them an idiot and a weak ruler.
      Fear Allah.
Remember that a lot of the history available out here on the internet is from sources of the ENEMIES of the Ottoman Caliphate which wish nothing but for the Muslims to not rise again, and no better way to do that then corrupt their history and make them to forget about they’re Ottoman Khalifa…
Why do you think 97% of all these so called shaykhs or scholars never speak of Ottomans when they are literally our MOST RECENT caliphate, it’s all a propaganda.

West never understand the concept of what is slavery or not in the Ottoman empire. Contrary to what is said in the video as Jannisaries are technically slaves, they can at most be considered as servants with paid salaries and a lot of different rights. There wasn’t a devshirme system being implemented by the time of Ahmed the Third as there was no need for it, janissaries were no longer recruited using the traditional system and the position largely became hereditary where you could be a janissary if your father was a janissary. They exploited the empire and were directly responsible for the murder of various sultans. Then again the janissaries themselves weren’t really janissaries by that time anyway.

sultan Osman the second could have suppressed the janissary revolt but he didn't because he was soft and wanted to convince them peacefully which gave the janissaries the time to lunch a sudden attack against the palace and kidnap and strangle sultan Osman the reason I say that sultan Osman could have suppressed the revolt is because when sultan Mehmed the conqueror ascended the throne due to his father sultan Murad abdicating the throne for the first time the janissaries revolted which forced sultan Murad to return to the throne and suppress the janissaries revolt and he used both Turkmen soldiers and regular troops like the Timar Sipahi and palace as well as yaya and muselem cavalry Azab and akinji soldiers while the palace six divisions that where created to counter the janissaries where not created until the reign of sultan Mehmed the conqueror but that is after he reigned permanently I mean after his father died as in after abdicating two times and before abdicating for a third time he died which the sultan created the six palace divisions or in other worlds called kipakulu sipahis in order to counter the janissaries which is why it was easier for sultan Salim I Bayazid II and sultan Suliman I to suppress the janissaries revolt in Bayazid's case the only reason the janissaries succeeded in making his son Salim succeed the throne is because sultan Salim had both his provinces provincial army as well as the Crimean tartars as well as the janissaries and some other elements of the ottoman army and don't forget after sultan Osmans death Sultan Murad wasn't as soft as him and thus he used the six palace divisions to brutally suppress the janissaries rebellion and thus put them in their place but he was the last sultan to do so after him most other sultans were soft and thus they never crushed the janissaries due to not wanting blushed to happen.

No. They are. But slave doesnt means slave. Janissaries are slaves but different slave from america or different from ship slaves of different from concubines all of them are slaves but each one is different. Being ship slave is one of the worst things can human be but being a devshirme and becoming a grand vizier? You can be strongest man in the world. Being concubine of the sultan? You can be strongest women in the world. Janissaries are technically slaves because they are taken and forcibly educated in schools and become direct slaves of sultan but authority to the slaves are nearly little. Think it like being duchy in Holy Roman Empire, you are a duke, emperor is your liege but in same time it isnt, you can act like independent duchy but still Emperor is your liege.

It's so surprising that Liberals and Socialist aren't calling for Turkey to give reparations to Albania, Greece, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Bosnia. Or Egypt for Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Or Saudi Arabia, India and China for Ethopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Djibouti, Kenya and The Sudans.

It's just cruelty out of political correctness not to mention how hateful was this institution of jenissaries and devsirme to the christian enslaved population of Balkans, especially the Greeks, the Serbs, the Bulgarians who were suffering by the mandatory kidnap of their children. Songs and traditions and historical narrations are recording this suffering and trying now some persons from the West to justify this turkish atrocity is totally unacceptable! Plus, how is possible not to mention their failure to face the Greeks and the Serbians who formed the first christian indepentant and the first christian autonomous state respectively after revolutions?

It has nothing to do with the conscription nowdays! No one is abducting you during conscription, you are going back, it's not only about the minority boys and of course no one enforces you to change your religion!@@shehryarashraf5840

Kidnaps happened and probably bunch of forced taking of teenagers too but u need to realize after ottomans were successful even balkan nations bribed officials so their children would be taken. Janissary were more than mere soldier because taken children would send to school then they could be even 2. powerful person on ottoman empire which is a Veziriazam.

Obviously you have filled with hate against Ottoman or Turkish idk but this was not a kidnapping. They were either war orpans or their family gave them willingly to the Ottoman so that they could have a better life in rich Ottoman lands. I didn't even want to explain this because it seems that you just writing out of spite not because you know anything. But i felt like somebody needs to educate you. This kind of hate may hurt you someday. A piece of advice.
