Everyone recovers differently and on different timelines! You cannot compare yourself to anyone. As you know this recovery is long and requires a lot of work! You got this!!!!

I'm amazed. I'm almost 6 months in. Non op. Things are feeling great. Gentle jogging. But watching you do box jumps is amazing. Great job. Not thinking I will be doing those soon. Lol. Great videos. Keep sharing.

Great video. Very inspiring. I am at 11 weeks 3 days. I am almost walking normally. Just a small hitch left. I almost think that it is the heel anchors causing it. I am not sure how soon those are no longer an issue. I am also working on assisted heel raises. Like you I have good and bad days. I still have swelling when I don't ice and elevate my leg. I am anxious for the day I can put that behind me!
Thanks again for the video series!

That is awesome that you are almost walking normally! The anchors can definitely be the cause. I had pain at the anchor spot for some time for sure! I think it was around 9 almost 10 months post op before I did not have any pain or swelling. Just keep working hard and listen to your body! You got this and I am here for you!

Your progress is absolutely amazing! I'm currently starting 10th week post op and I can't even think about jumping. Despite doing my rehab 2 times a day :(

It is definitely a marathon and not a sprint. Some days are hard for sure since progress is not linear. Just keep at it and all of the small things will add up over time! YOU GOT THIS!!!

O my! I am so sorry to see that you are going through this injury! That is a long time for non weight bearing! Are you putting any weight on your foot? Do you mind letting me know where you are located? Just curious to see how doctors from different areas treat this injury.

That is shocking! My boot went on week 2 follow up (beginning of week 3) was told up to 50% then and FWBT by week 4. No problem. I am speechless with Stacie's aggressiveness in her rehab considering her background. I have had a dozen surgeries unfortunately in the past 3 years; this one 12/11/23 via the PARS percutaneous method. My doc has used the Speedbridge method, won't anymore for several reasons including the pain issue in the heel. I have read literally 100's of hours on this topic before surgery and during rehabbing. Although my Dr. specified to begin gradual dorsi from 6-9 week to 5 degree; I have overruled him and the PT following him. I have actually taught her about the importance of waiting to week 12 providing her with various protocols and studies re" elongation (and she has been a PT 25 yrs.+). You only get 1 chance to get it right (length and tension)....unless you want another surgery. I found it fascinating that it appears Stacie (to this point of my following along in the video series) is learning that the hard way. That segment of her Dr., PT, and her (all professionals) to go from 22 degrees to 0 degrees plantar made no sense! And allowing/doing the dorsi movement so early at such a rate, mind-blowing! I've enjoyed the videos immensely but some of the things I've witnessed now having the knowledge I have on the topic just fascinating. I was going to comment earlier in the series but tried to stay quiet. :) Will now continue to follow along. And believe me when I say I'm AAA personality that have been very active, competitive my whole life but now at 69 and still extremely active, will TRY to be patient with this healing process being in the late innings of life but still much to do. :)) Feels great, would love to be blasting lower body in the gym but will stick to upper body, abs, and the good leg.

Dang My scar was pretty much healed almost a week or two after my stitches were out, which was about week 5. But I am also taking BPC 157 which makes me wonder if it was actually indeed working. I also have been way less active than you too.

Hi. I'm at 10 weeks, and I'm doing very well compared to the average person, but nearly as fast as you. Walking in the pool has helped me tremendously, IMO. Im gonna try some of the movements/exercises that you were doing at week 11 and 12, ofc being very careful and with the OK from my PT.
I got 10 years experience with CrosFit and Olympic weightlifting, so I'm anxious to get back but I actually ruptured my Achilles playing pickleball, of all things!
I may go visit a friend in Phoenix soon, and if so, maybe I set up an appt with you.

Hey Craig! I would love to meet you! My schedule is a bit crazy so I would reach out as soon as possible. You can call the office at 602-675-0325 and they can help you get squared away or you can always schedule a video visit! I am so sorry you are going through this injury! It is definitely not an easy recovery. I would definitely be cautious with any dorsiflexion activities at your stage of being post op as you do not want to heal long. I understand the desire to get back to previous activity but be patient and take it one day at a time. You got this and I am here for you!

I injured my achilles playing volleyball...I heard a pop in my ankle no swelling or bruising...I can walk slowly fine but if i walk fast i have to limp...its been 5 days now.. dont think its a full rupture at all probably pulled or partial tear...i am afraid even if it gets better to start jumping again thinking i might rupture it or something...I have been icing it daily what are your thoughts on using the jacuzzi?
    good luck on your recovery.

I am sorry to read that you injured your Achilles! I think it is best to stick with the ice for now but you should probably get in for an evaluation as you will most likely need some physical therapy. I hope you heal quick!

I did not want to heal long so I did not push dorsiflexion until after 12 weeks post repair. You should be okay to work more on dorsiflexion after 12 weeks :)

Um I don't believe that is true relative to what you said in your videos! Remember the 5 degrees a week, 22 degrees at week um....?@@ThePhysioFix

I am at week 11 now. I can’t walk properly due to Equinus. Feel my tendon is short and tight also weak. So I have been trying to walk in a sneaker for few days now and I don’t have the range to do dorsiflexion. Why is that?

    • @ThePhysioFix
      @ThePhysioFix  Рік тому

Thank you for reaching out! I am happy to help answer your question! It will be tight post repair and it takes time to get dorsiflexion back. You do not want to rush into dorsiflexion as it can cause your Achilles to heal long and be too lax. In another week or two you can start work on dorsiflexion but I would hold off on pushing it right now. You can definitely load your tendon right now but I would not focus on getting more dorsiflexion at this time. Are you working with a PT local to you? I would definitely recommend finding a PT with Achilles repair experience to help with this recovery. I wish you all the best and please reach out if you would like me to help you as I can help if you are local to AZ or online if you live elsewhere. Have a great weekend!

@@ThePhysioFix thank you! It is reassuring. When I saw your videos at my timeframe that you were already lifting weights it got me worried a little bit as I don’t have any ability to dorsiflex, so my walking is probably just like a duck or even worse. I am based in Melbourne Victoria. I do have a PT that was recommend by surgeon, he has been using massage to relax my calf muscles and lose up the bones at front, nothing much than that for 20 mins session. The problem is all I feel all the work will go away overnight after a sleep. It feels so tight in the morning. I am keen to discuss potential work on this with you.
