Fun fact: Toney has never been knocked out in 92 fights
MrKIKO0riko But if he doesn’t stop now he would. I guess he’s now 52
@@derickduah8764 it's possible but his opponent better not sleep I mean not for one second or it'll still be lights out
What of samuel Peter's heavyweight fight
Sad fact, CTE up the ass.
Ya granite chin
One of the Most underrated boxer in America🇺🇲🤬
Yea youre low key right
Facts. My personal fave fighter.
@@ghxstkennedy3637 not even low key he's a great boxer
Under rated? James is respected by all as a master boxer/counterpuncher.
It's criminal how overlooked he is in most conversations
That man is one of the BEST OF ALL TIMES! Power, defense, and skill!
So underrated! He was a football player then got into boxing only had 20 something amateur fights! He developed a great pro style and had great defense which he used to counter punch..He had one of the best trainers in the world..Bill "Pops" Miller! Respect from Michigan!
Best.Fighter.Ever
AN ALL TIME GREAT 👍
Lmao he knocked out Deon Sanders at college tryouts/practice.
The philly shell , Floyd’s style also, he didn’t develop it, been around for a long time
Sir James is not acting tough like most modern fighters do; he is just tough period.
One of the greatest fighters of all time p4p , James toney is a legend 💯💯💪🏾💪🏾
One of the greatest super middleweights of ALL TIME, true boxing fans know, hell of an athlete
no doubt
Facts
he stopped Evander .
Toney would have taken apart Froch and Groves with a cigar on.
@@jameshishappyeats8109 you know the guy. nose job, massive ego, thinks he'd beat calzaghe 🤣.He was a supermiddle like Toney and naturally would make a good fantasy fight.James was just as tough with the same granite chin but that's where any comparison ends when talent enters the equation.
@@jameshishappyeats8109 James would beat carl.. I was a huge carl fan. We all saw what andre did to him. James is every bit as sharp as andre ward was but with better defense and faster hands. He wouldve had carl figured by round 4 and picked him apart
@@jameshishappyeats8109 Froch had the power for sure. Toney had the defense. Who knows lol
@@jameshishappyeats8109 Man i love Froch. Loved how he came to foght every time. But in all honesty Dre Ward schooled carl. Carl could not find him for 10 rounds. Toney has even BETTER defensive and his hands are every bit as good as Wards. Toney 8 times out of 10
@@jameshishappyeats8109 Carls never been stopped. Lost both to mikkel kessler and andre ward by UD. Maybe a SD to kessler not sure
Thank you Sky Sports for acknowledging James and giving him recognition.
True legend who fought everyone 🔥
Proper old school hard nut James Toney. Matched his talk. Brilliant skill too.....
James Toney is one of the greatest stylists that ever lived. Watching him fight was such a pleasure, as he was a counter puncher that had power. You missed and you paid the price.
You know I work on Jame's Toney every day. I don't think it's a symptom of being punch drunk, at first I thought it was. But I genuinely think it's a vocal cord problem
James Tony is one of my all time fav fighters, he so good at avoiding punches
Doesn't sound like it !
Besides when he fights Roy
Yeah he knew how to slip a punch
Can't go through a storm and not get wet.
Jay 1 that was because all he did was spar, he rarely got it in actual fight
Ive never seen anyone more fearless. Never ever complained
Toney is a great got a lot of respect for him a true fighter, the man even stopped Holyfield.
Holyfield was already passed his prime
"Today's fighters are built like cupcakes" 🤣😂
No , not James Toney , he just does not care , he has an extra thick skull.
EXACTLY dude. Except for Canelo and Pacquiao.... Everyone else is afraid to take on the best
@@daniellobo1680 nehh just becaused they are pushed onto us through mainstream media and take enhancements doesn't really make them great.
💯🎯👏👏
Not wrong
James Toney! The perfect boxer! One of the very best!
Toney genuinely loved fighting more than any boxer since TV was invented.
That was both his greatest strength and downfall. Because he never stopped fighting till people stopped offering him fights. He would get in the ring today if anyone asked him.
He was the only top tier boxer to step into an MMA cage with the confidence that his boxing would be enough.
I might be wrong but im pretty sure he's the only boxing champ to ever grace the mma cage
Aaron Echols well if you consider the WBA regular belt a world title then you would be wrong. Lucas Browne has had a couple of mma bouts and has held the wba regular title
@@chaeltheamericanmurderersi8450 Hey man a belts a belt lol Thanks for correcting me!
@GRap TheGOAT Oh yeah lol forgot about him knocking out Sylvia
A modern day gladiator
This mans skillset was something else, one of my all time favourites 🙌🏿
James Toney is a legend!!! People will never forget how great he was in his prime
25 years deep in the game baby!!
He had an amazing defense, implacable timing and a solid rock heart. Like others said, an underrated fighter.
The experience this man had is unbelievable, he was the most experienced fighter I’ve ever seen.
his style was so unique, defensive genius
In his prime he was something else. That shoulder roll...
He actually sounds a bit better since he hasn't been fighting. 10 years ago it was extremely difficult to comprehend what he was saying. Not taking blows to the head and getting slimmer has helped.
This interview is old..........
@@Dreamformeable oh...I wish it wasn't the case...
Its from 2013
Lol remember when he was getting ready to fight Randy Couture how he sounded?
@@ChrisDeVarro yea, that was pretty bad
James Toney, such an awesome champion with fantastic skills; always so great to watch his fights.
He was artist in the ring.
Toney was a beast my absolute favorite fighter the defense was a thing of Beauty that counter right hand was amazing
A man that's literally scared of nothing and love to fight.. Ali, Toney, gentleman that put there body and mind on the line
Toney is a legend and glad to see he is still sharp after all of those wars 🙏🏼
This damage was done in the gym, sparring. Don’t mistake this with punch drunk, this is a rare case of punch poisoning.
James did very little of the traditional strength and conditioning . His fight prep was mostly just sparring high amount of rounds. Over time the head getting rattled inside of headgear will take quite a toll. Most cases of brain damage happen as a result of long tough sparring consistently.
Yes your correct. He's also from detroit and talks hood af. Its a combo of the two. Just like holyfield with his bama accent too
@@DrDoom931 he is from and grew up in Grand Rapids Michigan...actually, like Floyd. He fought out of Detroit and spent a lot time training at Kronk. He reps Detroit probably because thats were he was during the prime of his career
@@user-bc4uz9tp8k Thanks for correction!
@@DrDoom931 You gotta be from the DMV. I'm from Oxon Hill.
Legend
He was an excellent boxer
Lights out James Toney

He’s a living legend
James Toney is such a character - great fighter.
This king of the rings highlights have been watched on youtube millions of times and, and will continue to do so, what a fighter
A legend & a great warrior .Salute👋
The fighters of today could learn a lot from James Toney...This guy had respect and skill🔥🔥🔥
Respect for who? Lmfaoo you have no idea how funny and angry toney was in his prime
Skill but no respect at all man
Today's fighters do too much cherry-picking, afraid to lose their 0
@@elduccitv4304 Correct
@@elduccitv4304 It sucks big time
Absolute defensive genius
Truly one of the most dangerous fighters to ever live! A super middleweight that went on to K
James Toney in my top 5 boxers of all times
Hard bastard. Great fighter!
One of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport. James "Lights Out" Toney. By the way he won that first fight between himself and Samuel Peters. I had it 117-111 or 9 rounds to 3.
For sure. No way he lost that first Sam Peter fight.
James Lights Out Toney easily my favourite boxer of all time...such a beautiful beautiful beautiful fighting skills and never ever backed down from a fight....He truly was born a fighter rest all the fighters learn fighting...
Sooooo underrated and under appreciated smh
Great fighter, versatile and fought the best in his time
My favorite all time boxer now. He's so fast!!! I'm love Detroit too.
A pound for pound legend
Loved James Toney, proper fighter, boxer and all round proper man
James Toney is a fighter till the day he dies.
When Legacy is talked about after a boxer’s career, this is one hell of a legacy. Fighting the best, not just in one, but several weight classes. A true legend. There are big names out there at the moment in boxing, but do they have or deserve a great legacy? To be considered great?
This man never dunked anybody and is the funniest in the whole world he wants to fight mike Tyson now he legit badass.
Love toney , one of the best ever to do it, heartbreaking seeing him today his speech is so slurred
It's not heartbreaking. The man's lived a live few could dream of but this is the trade off. Myself listen to him I here a proud happy man to be honest
If I could live my dream, and make enough so that my mother never had to worry about money again-in exchange for the possible consequences of Boxing/Combat Sports …
I would take that deal, every time, every day, forever, and never even wonder if it was the wrong choice. Getting that deal would be greater than anything I could’ve asked for.
Imho that’s the way that topic should be viewed.
James Toney is old school. Boxing is second nature to him, such a natural talent.
What a Legend!!! I was always respect him!!! Now even more!!!
Fantastic interview. Loved watching James Toney with all his skill and confidence. Legend
Never forget the holyfield fight when he stuck his tongue out at him while avoiding his jabs, class fighter
@@mrlionrocks 'Evan Fields' was no stranger to a bit of juice either...
Toney submitted his legacy with that fight
James Toney is one of my favourite boxer of all time .He is a warrior and a Strong man, he doesn't run away from any fight.Legend
Ilove watching James Tony fight he's the best
Excellent interview! James "Lights Out" Toney favorite boxer and definitely one of the great ones!!
This is great: never seen "Lights Out" smile before!
Totally sublime skills, an utter genius 👍
Absolutely different class defensive Skills 🙏👊
One of the greatest boxers in history,if he trained he would of gone undefeated, just remember he only done sparring, never done rd work, just straight boxer!
James toney. One of the most talented guys to ever box. AND HE WAS EXCITING..and he could eat! Probly left that one out lol
God I love this guy so much. TRUE fighter, TRUE legend.
James was a great fighter
respect to the man he is one of the greatest to ever step in the ring
1 Of The GREATEST Ever James Toney
Love it and tough as they come!! 🎙🥊
My fav fighter! Lights out!!!
This guy is a great fighter. He deserves all success and praise.
duran and toney are my favs. That would be my dream fantasy fight to watch them at middleweight fight each other
Definitely the best two fighters to watch.
Biggest set of balls in combat sports history! Period!
Legend & fearless
Underrated Toney display is against Holyfield, he took him apart. Toney was out of this world to watch. And a good measure of how good Jones was in the mid 90s
But lets be honest, real deal ass miles past it. Toneys a good fighter but holyfield was well past it vs toney
@@thomaspollock9941 difference in age is not that big. JT is a boogyman for Holyfield
@@alexshoneya mabye, but the holyfield who beat bowe and tyson would beat toney
@@thomaspollock9941 I disagree
No that's really an overrated win, Evander Holyfield was a shadow of his glorious best.A good win for James Toney but Evander Holyfield was pretty much done by the time they fought at heavyweight.
James tones is my favourite boxer all the time
One of my favourite boxers. Detroit in the house
His a legend!!!
All time great.
Would never rule Toney out in beating anyone in any weight the guy was unique absolute phenomenal fighter
Absolute legend he gave everything to boxing
TONEY'S IRAN BARKLEY fight was ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. Just like the fight HAGLER against TONY SIBSON.
The coldest stare down in the business, and hell of a champion
I loved watching “lights out” fight.
My favourite fighter of all time a true atg good to see him get this interview, when was this from?
Agree👍🏾 JT is my favorite of all time as well. Amazing talent
I'm from the UK and James toney was one my favourite boxes
Toney's fight with Jirov was the most exciting fight I have witnessed.
The smoothest boxer of all time
Even, Floyd Mayweather himself called James Tony the "Shoulder roll Master". James Toney was s real dude in and outside the ring. No pretense. Respect for the dude.
Underrated champion!
Someone should arrange an exhibition; Mike tyson vs James toney
Toney is a helluva fighter. Abrasive personality but you can't question his fighting spirit.
Jsmes toney motivation is incredible
James Toney was the man !!
Amazing in his Prime.... Great to hear his words
He was amazing
LOVE this guy
James Toney. Very frightening in his day. Great great great fighter.
