Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). The Jacobins had nothing to do with the Jacobites. The term "Jacobins" originally referred to the French revolutionaries who formed the Jacobins club. They were so named because their HQ was in a house at Rue Saint-jacques. It originally included moderates and even aristocrats like the Duc D'Orleans, but it radicalized after the departure of the constitutional monarchists, and later polarised between moderate Republicans called Girondins and extremist "Montagnards'. The Girondins were purged in 1793 and executed, after which Robespierre and his Montagnard faction are known as the Jacobins.
Just to continue this and stablish the relation about the name. The Jacobins were named as such because of their HQ which was in which had used to be Saint Jacques Monastery (which indeed named the street it was on). Saint Jacques translation to English would be Saint James. While the Jacobites are named as such because they were the suporters of James II of England, dethroned by the Glorious Revolution. If you notice, both 'James'. So why 'Jacob...'? because Jacob is James in Hebrew and adjectives about 'James' tend to use the original rather than the 'current' form in some cases such as this one. So, yeah, just a coincidence. Considering that the Jacobines were extreme republicans and Jacobites were defenders of a royal line and actually with a conception of sacred/absolute monarchy, ideologically they could not be further from each other :D

Jacobins are named after Dominicans (who in france were called Jacobites) which is where jacobins used to meet. Jacobites were supporters of King James (Jacobus) II during civil war in England.

In many ways Napoleon was a great man and leader especially with his reforms of the legal system. But you have to remember that he was also a brutal dictator. History is never black or white.

Yeah. There were so many ways that this coup could have failed. And it very nearly did.
Although the British 🇬🇧 didn’t like him or other countries he conquered , it’s got to be said they admired him for his capabilities AND WHICH THE WORLD WILL NEVER SEE HIS LIKES AGAIN ,that’s only fair and some of his ideas and rules are used to this day a great video and have subscribed to that channel as I.did yours years ago I only hope you READ OUR COMMENTS CONNER 👏🤷♀️
