Is there any doubt as to whether when a foreigner shows up and says he wants to "install a democracy", one may expect that individual to go galloping around trying to interview everyone until he gets some testimonies which will start conflict within those borders?

And by the senator "going to 122 grocery stores as a mystery shopper", let's translate to non-Russian terms: The Russian senator sent one of his underlings/minions/staff workers to go to 20 grocery stores and then make up the rest based on the 20 grocery stores this underling went to. Where was the senator? Not at the grocery stores! That's WORK! That's for OTHER people!

More accurately, 5 underlings/minions/staff workers were sent out to go to 20 grocery stores each. They all went together to the same 20 shops. In between visits they got drunk on cheap knockoff booz hence the explanation of the extra 22 visits

Chemnitz will not be renamed into Karl-Marx-Stadt, but the head of Karl Marx will stay, according to a referendum. It has become a landmark. It also serves as a reminder to the German people to remember the past and why we will not go back again.

Also Karl Marx was just a German economic philosopher who wrote about the idea of future communism in a book (Das Kapital). It was only long after his death that Lenin took that book's ideas as a basis to found the Soviet Union on and if Marx would have known that this lead to Stalin, he'd probably personally burn his own book and every copy ever in circulation.

@@MattinLapland What you say is true. The Russian people CAN stand up to their tyrant government....but they choose not to. I think of the pictures of HUGE crowds of Russians going to the border to leave Russia.....when those HUGE numbers.....could easily be used to form an army to take out Putin. But these Russians are cowards. Just like the HUGE numbers of Afghans fleeing Afghanistan when the Taliban took over.....who far OUTNUMBERED the Taliban.....but CHOSE NOT to stand up to the Taliban. HOW can anybody respect these kind of cowardly people.
On the other hand you had HUGE crowds of Ukrainians in 2014 stand up to the Pro-Russian government of Yanukovich when Yanukovich was using force against them.....but the Ukrainians OVERWHELMED the Pro-Russian government and Yanukovich had to run to Moscow. THIS IS how you treat dictators. But Russians and the Afghanistan people REFUSE to stand up to their dictators......so they are now paying the price.

I didn't have the time to listen to or watch hour-long-plus streams, but these 12-15 minute sessions are exactly what will drive heavier traffic to your videos! Very concise and well-delivered content that help us understand Russian thought.
I always thought, with great sadness, what Putin's folly cost Russian. Loss of face is the least of the costs to Russia. Loss of equipment, loss of reputation, and most importantly, loss of valuable men - fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, and even grandfathers, all destroyed at the whim of one sick man. I feel so sorry that your country will suffer decades of destruction at so many levels. Thank you for telling a different story of your people.

Wow. that was a great episode. Well produced. You looked like you were actually having fun, and i a,m sure you were. Very pro. It looks like you must have a team behind you. Great format for more mainstream distribution. (shorter, more BAM BAM, graphics,) You have a great history to back you up. Love it.

A statue of Karl Marx in Kazan? He would be mightily amused. His comments on Russia and the East generally were so vitriolic (for example, Russia was was a product of 'the terrible and abject school of Mongol slavery') that all his writngs on Russia were excluded from Soviet editions of his Collected Works. Here is another that has a toplcal ring: 'Even when emancipated from the Mongols, Muscovy continued to perform its traditional part of the slave as well as the master.' Exactly... Slaves at home, enslavers abroad, .as today, under Putin and in Ukraine.

Re: the Russian (and global) economy, I have to ask: Which specific indicators make you think that the Russian economy is inevitably collapsing when according to the IMF, is actually still _growing_ while important Western economies such as Germany and the UK actually show a _shrinking_ real GDP?

You are entering in another dimension, a dimension of dreams, a dimension of ilusions, a dimension of pain, of incompetence, of madness and despair, your are entering... The Putin Dimension (queue the Twilight Music theme song).
