Kudepsta is a microdistrict of Big Sochi, located at the mouth of the Kudepsta River. The name "Kudepsta" is translated from the Adyghe as "black, oil" river. It may have once been like that, but now it is no different from other rivers in Sochi. In the summer of 2020, through the efforts of the initiative group, the former appointment is revived: the port of Kudepsta at the mouth of the river. So far, the pier is designed for small boats.
The village of Kudepsta is located on the border of the Adler and Khosta regions, the border between which runs along the bed of the Kudepsta River. Previously, Kudepsta belonged to the Adler region. Currently, the microdistrict (settlement) of Kudepsta is divided between two districts (the southern (lower) part belongs to the Khostinsky district, the northern (upper) to the Adler district), while most of the microdistrict is located on the right bank of the Kudepsta river. In the northern part of Kudepsta there is the administration of the Kudepstinsky rural district of the Adler district of Sochi.
The microdistrict includes seven streets: Darvina, Iskra, Kamo, Kalinovaya, Apsheronskaya, Rostovskaya, Sukhumskoe highway, and two lanes (Aleksandrovsky and Tikhy). Some of them were renamed in the 1960s to eliminate the same names. So Darwin Street is the former Pushkin Street, Iskra Street is the former Lenin Street, Kamo Street is the former Nagornaya Street.
About 17 thousand inhabitants live in Kudepsta. Previously, only private houses were located here, but now there are residential neighborhoods with multi-apartment, comfortable houses. There are also the Burgas boarding house (Sinara Group) and Avtomobilist, the Kudepsta sanatorium (the Russian Ministry of Defense), and private hotels.
The main attractions of Kudepsta are the Kudepstinsky cult stone and the Basilisk Martyr Temple. The Kudepstinsky cult stone (another name "Circassian stone") belongs to the era of the megalith. It features cupped indentations - obviously, these are places for seating during rituals.
