So Freya wasn't officially promised to be married to a giant. The frost giant Thrym managed to steal Mjolnir and when Loki and Thor went to retrieve it Thrym said that he would only give it back if Freya agreed to marry him. Loki and Thor went and asked her to and she declined, but she gave them her feathered cloak. The gods then dressed Thor up to look like Freya to fake the wedding. The giants took out the hammer to consecrate the wedding and when Thor got his hands on it he threw off the disguise and started wreaking havoc.

The "I'm about to rain on your parade" was actually a double - they showed Thor on Bifrost (rainbow bridge), so could be implying that Thor was gay (Pride parade).
The Boatman of the river Styx was Charon, and the 3 headed dog was Cerberus. That name still exists in the IT field today as Kerberos, which is a network authentication protocol, used over insecure networks.

Agreed. And lets not forget that the other city states weren't much better. Athens was just as bad (looking at you Peloponnesian wars and the Siege of Melos). In some ways you could argue that the Greeks were worse because their violence was more organize/driven by the government seeking control of territory and influence, where as the Norse were generally seeking wealth and resources to supplement their resource poor environment.

@@drsatanrx that’s the battle they’re most famous for, but look into it and you’ll find many more wins under the Spartan’s and Greek’s belt. Like the Battle of Marathon, or the Battle of Salamis immediately after their most famous battle where they get their ass kicked. Which btw, the Greeks were heavily out numbered by the Persians. Yet, the Greeks inflicted heavy casualties on the Persians until the Persians found a path to the Greek’s flank. And by that point the 300 men that stayed behind delayed the Persians enough to allow Athens to evacuate. With the Greeks being a bunch of city-states that were much smaller in numbers and size compared to the Persians them defeating the Persians in the general war was very impressive. And remember, one of the most famous empires of history had a lot of inspiration from the Greeks, the Romans.

"schlong" is a generic slang term for pecker, where the double comes in (dare I say?) is "swan song" which according to legend is the most beautiful song ever, made just before a swan dies. Modern uses have it as a grand triumphant moment just before retirement (not necessarily death); this started as a tradition in ballet where a retiring dancer's last role is taking the lead in Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake", to do the dance of the Dying Swan.

21:55 there's another interesting take regarding Loki suddenly stopping his dance at this point. Like Knox pointed out, Flyting was the "original" rap battle. I haven't been able to find the source since, but I recall reading that apparently in Norse mythology Loki was particularly skilled at flyting, so if that's true you could take Zeus' "your lines are so bad Loki must be writing them" jab as an unintentional insult at Loki rather than Thor. Loki isn't just stopping because he's being called out. He's stopping because 1. Zeus' insulting the bystanders for some strange reason and 2. someone just had the audacity of accusing the Trickster God of being bad at a battle of wits. If you were Loki, you'd stop to process that too.
Edit: yes, I know he brought up Loki's skill with flyting, but my memory's bad and I think it's still funny to think of Loki trying to figure out why he's being insulted and called terrible at flyting when all he's doing is dancing.

I think the "Swan schlong" phrase is more a play on the phrase "Swan song". Obviously also refers to the time Zeus turned into a swan and swan-schlonged a human, but "Swan song" is a phrase. The phrase refers to the (unverified) idea that since swans are monogamous, a mated pair of swans will have a particular song that they sing to call to each other. But eventually when one of the swans dies, the other swan will sing their song one final time, and never sing it again. So the phrase came to refer to a final farewell performance of an artist, a singer, musician, etc.
I have no idea how that relates to Zeus's verse though.

The line "when you get to River Styx tell your three-headed bitch i say hi" doesn't really work becuause in most tales you would cross Styx long before you get to the gates that Kerberos guards!

Well considering he's saying it to zeus I'm sure he'd have no trouble getting to the gates
