- On August 24, 2001, Air Transat Flight 236 had a major emergency following the failure of both engines whilst on the Atlantic Crossing between Canada and Portugal. The Loss of the engines caused them to be too far to reach Lisbon, and they had to land at an airport 100kms away. Would the Captain be able to glide the massive Airbus A330 to Lajes Airport? Here's the story of the Atlantic Glider.

Other channels did not mention the role of the trim tank in this incident, nor did they give details on the replacement engine, nor did they mention the fine that Air Transat was slapped with for their negligence. This video has provided more information in 18 minutes that others couldn’t in even double the time.

I was a passanger on that plane. I was 13 back then. Travelling with my mom back then. The experience was spine chilling. I salute the captain for saving all of us. At that time, the captain's seemed no less then God.

This was so amazing! I have listened to podcast and watched other channels on air incidents and this is by far the best, well thought out story making video. I saw this one a while back on one of those aviation documentaries. However, even though I knew how it would end, I was still at the edge of my seat because you kept it interesting with your narration and graphics. The pilot's experience and a whole lot of luck certainly saved the flight that day. Great job on this documentary!
