I just watched the movie, and am crying uncontrolably. What a dynamite performance by Teyana. Additionally, kudos to the writer, producer and director. As a single mother I can feel her love and determination to make her child into the best human he can be. Keep making movies like this that represents our community❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This movie blew me away
My wife has seen me cry 3 times in our twenty-two years together. Watching this movie was one of those times.

This movie is so great and she played the role to the point you would not think its a movie, but real life. The only thing I hate is how it left me (my opinion) at the end.... this movie is what this world needs. I think (again, my opinion) we all can relate in some type of way. Thank you to those who breathed life into this story rather its fictional or fact. It will humble you in some sort of way. Stay blessed my friends..

Just watched the movie in Greensboro, NC. 10:10pm Showing and the only one in the Theater. Sistah Taylor and the Young Brother that played the Son did a Excellent Job. Very Emotional and Real!

This is an Oscar movie if I’ve ever saw one !! I love watching movies that get good reviews at the Sundance festival, And this one was a winner.. I wanted to see for a long time. Now saying it’s an incredible movie is the understatement of the year!!! The twist wow Incredible.
I loved how throughout the whole movie they creatively reminded us what was happening during that time for minorities in New York/Harlem and in some cases all over America. How they disguised things like racism, police brutality, Racial profiling and gentrification with announcements like “making New York Safe again” and “improving our neighborhoods” making it sound like money would be spent to improve the look of New York.
When the reality was a lot of the buildings/homes were being bought at a low cost by wealthy white Americans who were really bending/breaking the laws of the landlord tenant act, by forcing families to leave their homes, the same people who have been a part of the community from the very beginning, generation after generation. So the owners can remodel the homes, units to charge more in rent often doubling, tripling the costs. Which will in turn make the rents way too expensive for the former tenants to rerun giving them no option but to move away, which is gentrification.
Now the acting 👏👏. Everyone was incredible 👏👏. Can’t wait to see how it does during award season. Better win lol i Just love it !!

Teyana Taylor could easily win an Oscar for this which is mad considering she only had a handful of cameo roles up to this and was only the lead in one film prior to this, Cruel Summer which has never been released to the public, was directed by Kanye West, only starred musicians from his label GOOD Music (which Taylor was a part of at the time), and was only shown once at Cannes 2012 on an experimental 7 screen cinema pyramid which the film was basically made just to trial this invention, look it up of you think that sounds unrealistic 😂. But to come from that to this is just inspirational especially when you consider how talented a RnB singer she is and how her music never really got the push her talent deserved.
The premise of this movie sounds a lot like the Sugarland Express directed by Spielberg.

Movie was good, but the ending, sad ending. The son will be okay but the mother, she still got the police looking for her and she has no where to go. Maybe she should have never taken the child in the 1st place. Emotional scenes, but the mother was still a kidnapper.

In a modern world where dirty people “fight” for the “cause” of abortion, this is a must-see movie.
The typical black single mother movie 🥱 woman loses custody of her child (usually a boy), gets him back, and learns how children can teach women to have empathy abd compassion. I honestly am tired of this "mindlessly having kids just so a woman can gain skills that make them more empathetic and compassionate" while women who are naturally like that are neglected, disrespected, and abused but both men and women like the tough arse one in the movie. We all know they love their boys the way they have always loved male attention and excuse all the messed up shi they do. Its the soft sensitive girls they hate because these woman hate anything they perceive as weakness. So can we have movies like that. Movies where women accept the daughters they have regardless of the type of person they are 😒
