With the most potent motor no wonder he's faster than everybody... Put him in a Haas or midfield car, and let him show how many times he would humiliate someone
I've been watching F1 for 38 years now and I dare to say Max is the best I've ever seen. Yes better then Senna, Schumi, Vettel or Lewis. For me he doesn't need 7 or 8 or whatever amount of titles. The way he dominates F1 is absolutely breathtaking. No other driver has ever dominated F1 when they had a great or the best car the way Max does. Some find it boring and I can understand that but I'm watching this bloke with full admiration.
funny how when the machinery is now somewhat equal with other teams he looks like he did before, a fast driver, sometimes reckless but not invincible and certainly not the best to ever do it
Yes, that was indeed demolishing the competition!! That one was definitely showing Max's class as a driver in those wet circumstances. Should have been in this video!
Most impressive fact is that over 50% of these amazing drives were before he got his 'rocket ship'. He drove from the back of the grid to the podium so often in a non championship winning car. Yes you most often need a great car to win the championship, but a great driver can excel in a 'lesser' on a regular basis as well. It isn't all about the car.
The moment on Nasrr was when many people reallised that Max was the real deal. That was far from a rookie move. Would love to see you make a Fernando Alonso version of this. Would give the youngsters viewing your channel a chance to see some old school racing. After all, the "eternal rookie" has been in the sports sincee 2001 which might be longer than many viewers are old. As for the #2 spot... I don't agree he humiliated Alonso there (I know.. it might be obvious I am both a Max and a Fernando fan). Both Max and Alonso humiliated the rest there. It was one of the best qualifying laps both ever did. They both were on fire and Alonso really deserved better that day... but humiliated... nah... I don't think he was.
People will say it's the Red Bull. Of course, Red Bull has the best car. But look at what Perez does, he is always fighting with Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Aston Martin and with maximum effort, he will get second (with a big gap to Max). There's no team where the difference between teammates is as big as with Red Bull. And not just with Perez, also with Gasly and Albon. Look at the other teams: Mercedes, Ferrari, the difference is smaller. Maybe Aston Martin with Alonso and Stroll have the same difference. So yes, the best car is Red Bull, but the best driver is also Max.
Max " Clockwork Orange" Verstappen has been in the business of destroying the whole grid for years now. Notable humiliations: Lapping Hamilton at Imola 2022, just after their epic showdown the season before. And gaining 4 secs a lap to catch Perez at Zandvoort 2023 on the same tyre. Overtaking everybody and schooling the whole grid (not only Rosberg) in the art of wet racing at only 19 years old was probably his most devastating act.
"Schooling the whole grid" while Hamilton was out there just cruising at the front, and Rosberg (notorious for not being a good wet-weather driver) still finished in front of him. You Verstappen stans really seem to have very selective memories
@@pe-peron8441 Rosberg (and who knows even Hamilton) only ended up in front of Max because he had to come from far because of a bad tyre strategy. At some point he was literally more than a second faster compared to the whole grid, including Hamilton and Rosberg. If that's not schooling then I don't know what is. So if anything, it's more the Hamilton fans here that seem to have a selective memory.
While you are absolutely right as he was amazing in that race, all I would remember from that race is Lando losing it on the last lap.... with him screaming [NO] before the suggested tire change. It still breaks my heart.
I remember a confused winner Hamilton after the finish when he was looking next to him and suddenly the car of his greatest rival pops up on the second spot. It was a priceless moment.
I miss this glorious race craft so much. It was always exiting to see what Verstappen could do during the race, especially when he started out of position. It made the utter Mercedes dominance, more bearable. And it made the rare wins, very special because it was a driver with an inferior car, who somehow managed to win. But now with Verstappen being so far ahead of the field, including his teammate who isn't much faster than other teams, in the same car, we have lost that bit of magic. And its not helping the entertainment value of the races. Occasionally drivers like Alonso can deliver some special drives. But they often are either also qualifying good so they usually also drive their laps. Or the car just isn't performing that weekend, leaving them with no opportunities.
"Glorious racecraft", tf are you yapping about? He's probably the F1 champion with the worst racecraft ever, typically approaching wheel-to-wheel fights with a 'you yield or we crash' mentality that is the exact opposite of what good racecraft and entertaining duels are made of. He's always had fantastic race pace, which is probably what you're referring to, but racecraft? Not at all
You described it very well. I too remember those exciting races where Max just lit up the screens with great overtakes and a true hunting spirit in what usually was an inferior car, still giving the Ferraris and Mercs something to scratch their heads about. Ever since the start of 2021 Max is driving at top level and since 2022, the car is matching his capabilities resulting in a dominant combination of car & driver, leaving the rest of the field behind. It makes the races far less exciting but my admiration for Max's capabilities has not grown less. Still in 2023 there were plenty of times that there were wet/dry circumstances that brought out the best in Max and were fantastic performances and race wins..
@@pe-peron8441Man needs some glasses I see. Max has the best racecraft of the field. You just don't enjoy his aggressive / fearless approach (like Senna and Schumacher back in the days).
I guess we should cherish that Max had a 'bad car' at the start of his career. That resulted in incredible moments. Now he has the car he deserves and indeed he will dominate the sport as long as that it pleases him.
@@Crotes1990 Watch your mouth when you talk about the greats of the past. Verstappen could never in a lifetime do what Shumy did fighting with Montoya at Imola 2004. The only thing he's able to do is taking corners as if his rival wasn't there, and, if the other one doesn't yield, crash into him
Let's say in 2016 there was a big realization in Rosberg to better become World Champion and retire immediately by doing so. His fear for Max got the best of him, something he actually admitted during his announcement. A wise decision...
