I absolutely love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing this invaluable information with us. I will certainly be tuned in. Making this decision at 41 is not easy and one must be as informed as possible.
My family physician actually RETIRED from teaching, was a drug rep a year THEN went to medical school. Osteopathic program actually. She is beyond words amazing. After seeing her journey all I can say is how glad I didn’t do anything after undergrad. MFM fellowship was brutal and if I had been older I would have never done it after Ob. Never.
Dr. Francois you’re such an inspiration, I’m from Guyana, South America 🇬🇾 and As a premed student with intentions of specializing in Anesthesiology, your videos really give me hope, I’d love to do my clinical rotations and residency in the US but after initial research it seems as though that’s going to be a challenge but your videos gives me hope lol you’re so positive and always share vital and encouraging information, trust God I’ll one day be like you, God bless you and family ❤️
Thank you for this video! I am in my fourth year of teaching high school science and I wanted to know how you explained your transition from teaching to the medical field. Thanks!
Thank you and you are a beautiful intelligent woman obviously. Personally I’m glad o didn’t know what it was going to take to become a dermatologist or I wound have never continued. There wasn’t any internet but I would like to say the rewards far out weigh the sacrifices. So thank you for the commitment and if considering a career in the medical field know the world needs you and if you have the passion you have the means. ❤️
Man, thank you for shedding light on those aspects medicine. Unfortunately a lot of us found out too late. It's a great career, and I believe the end reward is totally worth it in so many aspects. However knowing what I know now, it would've made the road less painful. Thank you for that!
I love your videos! I have always wanted to become a doctor but I was told so many times that it would never happen for me but you have inspired me to keep fighting for my dream thank you! ❤️
Mummy typing 👉🏽waiting waiting ❤️🥰. Richard typing 👉🏽My mummy made me know you and start watching your videos when I told her I want to be a Dr when I grow up.
Hi! I have a small child, husband and work full time. We’ve just moved to a new city & I don’t know if my husband will be on board. Is it possible to go to medical school while maintaining a family? Also, do you know of any scholarships for minority women?
Hi, thanks for watching! It can be very challenging to balance both but I experienced and witnessed other women doing it as well! It is possible but you’ll definitely need support.
I personally was not aware of any scholarships for minority women but was able to get a merit scholarship and a need-based scholarship during my first year of undergraduate and my first year of medical school as well which I was extremely thankful for🙏🏾. Check out if the schools in your area offer any such funds and apply..you never know! All the best to you and your family!
It’s extremely common, as there is an ever-growing amount of women in medicine ..and having done it twice, both on the surgery side (during med school and residency) and the Anesthesia side (after residency), it is quite challenging physically. You have to be very careful to avoid radiation and chemical exposure.
Hi can you explain if you are an attending or associate professor or both? Or possibly explain or make a video about what an associate professor physician is? Is this only in academic hospitals not community?
Thanks Arlyn! I am an attending and assistant professor. If you are in academic practice, once you are board certified, you can apply for appointment as assistant professor with the affiliate medical college. The Associate professor and full Professor status come with a certain number of publications and peer Anesthesiologist recommendations from other institutions, so those are goals! A whole video on the topic..Not a bad idea.. it gets a bit granular though..
Hi Dr. Francois, love your videos. Do you have email that I can reach you on? I’m a current intern thinking about switching to Anesthesiology. Would love to connect with you. Thanks

What do you think of being pregnant while working in the operating room?
