People always criticize him for playing the same way forever but that's just his sound and his style, since when did that become a bad thing? There aren't too many drummers out there who can play in so many different arrangements and yet unmistakably still sound like themselves. Plus I would argue that he has improved more as a musician than most rock stars would over their careers. He's actually a far better drummer now than he was back in the early Blink days, at least as far as technical ability and pure chops goes. Not to mention his stick-spin work and his marching snare are all at a much higher level.

I always had a great time listening to Blink 182, but I never realized till late in the game that they just so happened to have one of the most talented drummers of our time. Always great to hear this man add his touch to anything.
There were so many jokes, even the band members admit it in some interviews, that Travis was the only one who knew how to actually play his instrument in the group 😂

He completely owns the space right now. Reached levels of drummer popularity/ success that hadnt been seen since ringo, peart, bonham, tommy lee, ect...Real rockstar shit
@@zoro90s I actually somewhat agree with "drummer of a generation". Travis is more popular, with probably a far greater connection to the audience, though that's partially due to rock being more popular and accessible than metal.
But what I'm telling you is, bro, if you give the more metal side a chance, you'll hear beautiful, mystifying and unforgettable pieces of music. Just get some good recommendations because there's always a wall of crap to wade through in any genre.

kit sounds like trash for a DW. Not saying his playing wasn't good, but the turning and or mic job wasn't on point
@@dreichert1438 sounds like a just a room mic or 2 - not a full set of mics like he would use on a tour. Sounds like it’s just raw audio. DW kits have a lot of undertones to them and their toms really sing when given the chance in the mix.

Nothing too wrong with that, capturing live audio from a video can be hard if you don't have proper expensive equipment. If someone plays something first and then mimes it afterwards for a playthrough or demonstration it's not that bad at all, it helps with a cleaner capture. It also doesn't necessarily mean they don't know how to play what they're doing, if they can record it and then mine exactly how they played it, that's proof enough. doesn't detract really. Like how music videos are shot

Wait...Barker back to playing dw? I remember seeing him play those before he was with OCDP. I mean at this point its probably just a spare kit, im sure hes amassed a plethora of drum kits since becoming famous
In his most recent studio oriented videos he’s playing DW, but he still has an OCDP snare. If you look around the internet it looks like ocdp doesn’t make their own drums anymore and for Travis barkers newer kits it’s just dw shells with ocdp hardware and badges, idk why he’d so that other than the nostalgia, but nonetheless he must have some kind of deal with dw
he‘s always been using dw hardware and i think that he‘s got some sort of deal with them.
ocdp was founded by his drumtec (daniel jensen), so i guess that he still gets custom drums made if he wants them.
btw. he also uses vintage ludwig kits in some studio sessions.

@@johncubberley1943 because Dave really played with better feel, he doesn't play very fast fills for the sake of playing fast fills. Dave's got groove, way more and way better than Travis. Also the bands Dave has played in are just way, way better.
