That Mini 2 is trying to tell you you need a larger H pad for it to land on.
I bought one recently and have been horsing around with it the past few days, and I noticed it lands "close enough" to the starting point. I used my driveway, hovered there for about 5-ish seconds, then took off. Flew out to 1100 meters and initiated the RTH. It took way longer for it to come back than it did to get it out that far, but whatever, it still arrived safe&sound and landed about 7" (that's roughly 18cm for all you non-Americans) away from where it took off.
I am very pleased with that performance.
    Thumbs up!

So I had a few minutes yesterday to test out the Mini 2 (and compare to my Mavic Air 2). A couple things I’m trying to clarify:
    1) The 180 pano on the Mini 2 looks significantly wider than the MA2.
    2) MA2 pics have GPS location/data but don’t see any on the Mini 2.
    3) I don’t see any hyperlapse option on the Mini 2, but they advertised 4K Hyperlapse?
    4) While the Mini 2 wind resistance was definitely improved, I noticed the same susceptibility to getting pushed left and right when trying to fly straight.
    5) I notice the camera tends to jerk in certain directions unexpectedly when flying

    • @dee_em_bee

I contacted DJI support about the hyperlapse as it’s listed as 4k included on the DJI marketing materials... this is the response I got “Hi, thank you for your inquiry. We regret to tell you that the Hyperlapse feature is not supported on the Mini 2. There's a typo and this was already been reported to the team for correction. Thank you.” 🤨

Just wondering what was above you at 2:30 in your video, seems to be flashing and possibly X drone shaped. Was there another drone above you when you were flying?
Also, I remember reading that DJI recommends to remain in T/O location and orientation and slowly raise to about 10 m for a good 10 secs prior to flying away to allow pinpoint localisation with the GPS system and possibly local optical environment recording. It has been a while but when I perform this routine on take off, my return home location is much more precise. That works with the Mavic mini as well as the Mavic Air 2.
For sure, if your home point recording is performed with a higher number of satellites lock, the precision of the return home will greatly increase. In this regard, to allow the drone to sit on the ground for a minutes after initialisation will increase the precision of your home recording.
Really enjoy all your video, and nice knowing we both are Canadian flyers! ;)

Was also wondering about that other airborne object! The nice thing about the Mini 2 is that it now also includes Galileo in addition to existing support for GPS & GLONASS. Hopefully the third satellite constellation cross-reference and refinement of location will enable these 2 ft away landings to be standard, even though Mini 2 doesn't have precision land and is "GPS-only". You can see that Air Photography had 21 synced satellites in his status. Fingers crossed!

You will not regret the investment. I have one and it's fantastic! Definitely do the "fly-more" combo kit if you have the cake, the bread, the dough, the cheddar, dinero, shekels, yen, rubles, pesos, whatever it takes. I'm on the waiting list for the rotor cages, and an extra "smart" battery. The fly-more kit comes with two in the charging hub and one in the quadcopter. But the charging hub has three stations, so I want that empty station filled, and an extra battery is $50-ish. The prop cages are $20 (USD that is).

Yes I did, I think it also works more for the precision Landing Drones as it kind of looks for things I can recognize when landing. Using the downward facing cameras. • @BlairAir

It does well without a dedicated precision landing feature. I would have preferred it if the repeat test was performed after a reset of the home point, since it appears to have matched the first landing within a reasonable tolerance. Thanks for the test. Just noticed another comment with same observation. My Fimi X8SE 2020 gets a least 3 of 4 feet on the pad every landing. The Mini 2 is a great drone as well. • @mavic6155
      @mavic6155 4 роки тому +1

Yes, you can adjust the height it goes. This is to prevent it from crashing into a tree, a building or power lines. Sometimes connections are lost when the drone flies behind i.e. a building. You don't want it to return to home in a straight line and crash into the building, it must first go up to a safe height and then return to home.

    HELP#
I always fly my drones over the bay, since here in Miami Beach, FL, where I live, is a crowded area with many tall buildings.
I already crashed on the water the Mavic Mini and the Mini 2.
My mistake is that: While using the left joystick to rotate, I keep lower the altitude by mistake and forget to check it. I get very distracted looking at the video images.
Why the drone doesn't have a "Low Terrain warning" or "minimin altitude reached" that I could preset to, let's say 10 or 20 meters, so it sends me a warning when it gets below that altitude. Especially over the bay waters where I can't receive it?

Hi. Very nice tutorial. Have you come across the problem of not being able to connect a drone to the controller? Well, I've just purchased a mini 2 fly more combo. Well, I'm having that problem. I've just followed how you reconnect to the hand controller.
But all I get is "Connect aircraft" But It is Connected. The screen is blank with red lettering saying "Connect aircraft". The strange thing is. I can actually move the Gimbal up and down with the wheel on the controller. So it is connected. Wouldnt you think? I have read that DJI had a batch of Bad cables. That was causing the problem. I've been wrestling with this problem for a week before Christmas. You see.I had the same problem with the previous new Nini 2. So I returned it to the store. And replaced it with another without question.
Now I'm on Mini 2 number 2. I've got exactly the same issue. I've used the method of holding down those buttons on the controller. and holding the on the button for four 4 seconds. It still doesn't want to fly. what am I not doing? I was told this drone will work virtually straight out of the box. Not in my case. Please help ed. I'm a retired guy in the UK. My Mavic Pro is like your Air 2, never more than the width of the H off target. I’ve only flown my Mini 2 in a built up area so far as I’ve only had it 3 weeks, I usually hand catch it because it’s a lot less dangerous than sticking your fingers in the Pro,s props, so as long as it’s within a few feet that’s ok.

Hi, the Mini 2 does have an optical flow sensor like the Mavic Air 2. While the Mavic Air 2 has precision landing, the Mini 2 does not. I emailed DJI support to ask them if they intend on including precision landing in a future Mini 2 firmware update. This is the reply:
"In regards to your inquiry about precision landing feature for DJI Mini 2, we do not have such information yet if this will be available."
IMO, my guess is that we will have precision landing for the Mini 2 in the next six months.

I just got this drone the other day. It will only take off if I touch my iphone screen and hold takeoff button down. Doesn't work with the sticks anyone know why? Also is there anyway of seeing the recorded video on your iphone? Or does it just record to the SD card in drone and you have to view it on the computer?

I’m looking into getting my first drone mainly for photography but I really like these fold up DJI drones. I’m going to check around and see what options there are in the $400-$500 range but so far I like them.

My mini 2 keeps saying “the home point has been updated, please check it on the map” while in flight and the connection breaks and comes back. It freaks me out because of it really was updating the home point and right when my connection breaks I can say bye bye to my drone 😱

Why a test like this? There's a build-in inaccuracy in the GPS system. So landing within 3 to 9 feet is super.
