Yeah, USB type B is usually the form factor that will plug into a printer or into the back of a monitor while the other end has a normal USB port you're used to seeing. For example, my monitor has 2x USB type A (the older, normal ones) on the back of it. But you need a USB type B cable to go from the monitor to a USB type A port on your PC/motherboard. So it uses a USB type B to A cable, where the B goes in the back of the monitor into a type A (USB 3.2) on the motherboard so that I can have 2x USB 3.2 plugs on my monitor. Since they are hard to get to, I just plug my TrackIR Pro receiver into it that I never move and my Xbone controller into my monitor. They kept changing the name of USB, btw. They went from USB 3 to USB 3.2. USB 3.2 is USB 3. USB 3.2 now. USB 3.2 Gen 1 is 5Gbps. USB 3.2 Gen 2 is 10Gbps. USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 is 20 Gbps. Now there is USB 4 that can do 40Gbps and USB 4 Version 2 that does 80 Gbps. It's funny... USB 3.0 is the EXACT same thing as USB 3.1 which is the EXACT same thing as USB 3.2. They just changed the names over time. It was a stupid idea because then they had to make USB 3.2 Gen 1 and Gen 2 and Gen 2x2 lol. They COULD have had USB 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, etc. Marketeers are morons. We went YEARS having PCI express 1.0 and 2.0.... and then finally 3.0. Then boom, 4.0... and before ya knew it 5.0. Now we got 6.0. GPUs can't even saturate 4.0, yet. Shoot, 99% of them can't saturate 3.0 x16 lol.
Usb 2.0 transfer speed is 35 MBPs read & 10 MBPs write when used on desktop computers with usb 2.0 ports along with a flashdrive of same generation. The usb 3.0 ports on motherboard is green colour and on usb 3.0 data cables is blue in colour
So I have a laptop, I wan't to connect a Ethernet cable and it doesn't come with a port for it stock. Meaning I have to buy an adapter, they have adapters that work on USB 3 or USB C to Ethernet. I was wondering which would be better and faster. I still don't have a clear idea on which one that is, even after watching multiple videos. If you could help I would be very happy :P
Maybe you also have to make sure that the USB port is the USB port for data not the USB port for just power in. Then yes the USB to Ethernet adapter should work the limits on the adapter will be that of the chip inside the adapter, the USB or the networking equipment used between devices. The slowest part deciding which the speed is.
Hello, thanks for the video, I have a question for you, I have a dock with male USB C, but my 2017 MacBook Air does not have a type C port, it only has USB A 3.0 and a thunderbolt 2.0. How can I connect it? Is it enough to put an adapter such as USB A male to USB C female and will some features be lost?
I'm trying to put together a new pc for myself and even though I know my way around computer dealing with USB, Intel and AMD naming schemes has just been a nightmare especially with USB and thunderbolt and figuring out which ones work with the other one
Question: So since the A-Type connector has not changed over the years, Can I still use the 10 year old A-Type connector between Two 3.0 devices and receive 5 GBPS transfer?
Anyone know about the Mac Air early 2015, I read it is a 3.0 usb port. Is it different than a USB C or USB A ? I'm so confused. And I want to buy a headset that has a usb A or C cable but wondering how it will connect to my laptop.
Hello Team , I hope everything is going smoothly for you. I have a puzzling situation to discuss. I recently bought Apple Type C headphones, and they function perfectly with my iPhone 15 and Android device Mi 11X. However, I'm facing an issue with compatibility on Mi 11X Pro, despite both phones being from the same brand and having the same USB output. Could you help me understand the reason behind this? Additionally, I'm contemplating purchasing a Nothing Phone 2, so I would appreciate it if you could check the compatibility with these headphones on the Nothing phone as well, if possible. and could you explain why this headphone is compactible with some android phones and some are not, even in same brand.
I have been confused for days, and I have only one question. Are usb 3.0 (5Gb/s Variant) and usb 3.1 gen 2 type A (10Gb/s variant) uses the same cable? I would be gratefull if someone answered this question. Thank You!
USB cables can support any generation of USB. Wires are just copper wound together and insulated, and multiple wires create a cable. The same cable can usually be used even between USB Type-A, Type-B, Mini USB, etc. It's only limited by the _amount of wires_ within the cable. If a cable is manufactured with only the amount of wires to support a 3.1 connector and connect it to a 3.2 connector, it will limit the data transfer rate but will still work. If you have a cable for 3.2, it will support anything in the older generations. To answer your question: 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 do not use the same cable but the difference is only the number of wires.
@@caminstol2473 Finally. An answer. Thank You very much. Cause it's so hard to find 3.2 Hub in Indonesia. and i wonder if they are actually the same cable but different usb controller. Thank you so much for answering my question
Hi all, so can you tell me please for example I want to buy laptop wich has 2 xUSB type A 5GB/s ports and I would like to plug 2.0 flush drives and cd/dvd reader into them. It would work? Big thanks
If your laptop says it has USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 but doesn't explicitly state Thunderbolt 3 support, it probably means your laptop has a standard USB-C port with USB 3.1 Gen 2 data transfer capabilities, but not Thunderbolt 3. USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt 3 are both protocols that can use the USB-C connector, but offer different levels of performance and features.
Different USB host controllers, chipset usually have USB controllers of specific spec, but also CPU can have one which the case of Ryzen for example, plus motherboard manufacture can have extra once for more ports and they can be better then what chipset have. USB 3.x controllers are more expensive so some manufactures add 2.x controllers for more ports to cut cost as most PC devices just need 2.0 to function in full capacity.

I recently updated my BIOS so this might be the case and I'm answering my own question. gawd damn, they made the name so fking confusing
2x2 uses 2nd set of high speed 3.x pins of usb-c which are there for easier implementation dual side nature of USB-C to get extra speed, so it's like PCIe X2. And yes there also 2x1 mode. Technically it stil gen2 signal from 3.1 just dual chanell
