Nearly 90 years later Eddy Duchin is still regarded as the epitome of elegance and romance in this unforgettable era. Duchin played for the highest of society in venues such as the Glen Island Casino. His music was classically influenced by composers such as Chopin. We lost him in the prime of his popularity to leukemia at only forty five years old !
ME ENCANTA MUCHÍSIMO LA MÚSICA DE EDDIE DUCHIN, YO ERA PEQUEÑA Y EN LOS CONVIVIOS QUE HABÍA EN LA CASA CON TODA LA FAMILIA Y SOBRE TODO EN LA NAVIDAD Y AÑO NUEVO, MI PAPA SIEMPRE ESCUCHABA ESTAS PRECIOSAS MELODÍAS,. HOY YO LA ESCUCHO CON MUCHO CARIÑO EN PRIMER LUGAR POR MIS PAPAS Y ENSEGUIDA PORQUE A MI ME ENCANTAN TODAS. GRACIAS MUCHAS GRACIAS EDDIE DUCHIN, EN EL LUGAR DONDE ÉSTES.
Muchos tenemos la misma historia🙏
I have an album of his that belonged to my Dad's best friend who loved Eddie Duchin. When my Dad's friend Tom passed away in 1968, my Dad inherited that album that he treasured until his death in 1997. I am luck and privileged enough to have it. What a genius Duchin was...beautiful music!
he was a classy pianist. he was from Boston. my mother told me she saw him perform in Chicago. she said he was not only talented, but also very handsome. 😍
I found this record at a local thrift shop and gotta say I do not regret deciding to buy it.
Love his playing and the choir that accompanies him.
Simply too absolutely beautiful for words. Thanks.
I own this vinyl. I found it in a crate in Melbourne, Australia, and have loved this music since the first time I played it on my turntable. It gave me the idea to begin playing piano. Beautiful music, and Eddy Duchin's life-story is certainly rich. He was a great player; the music is just nice.
I have made a digital copy of both sides of this LP and uploaded it as an Unlisted video to my channel here: ua-cam.com/video/Zq5XlMbJXR0/v-deo.html
I used my Audio-Technica LP60 and Audacity to make a great sounding, high-quality copy of the original pressing from a 1973 copy.
i remember as a child watching THE EDDY DUCHIN story on tv. enjoyed it
Yes, I saw the movie also. I must look for it now.
I really like the piano style of eddy duchin. For me it's very relaxing and inspiring , he is my idol though a bit
difficult to copy his style unless you practice playing the piano a lot. Carmen cavallaro is one of those pianists who can play his style. Thank you for sharing this
Excellent album, et je remercie 'mfluke44' de nous le faire découvrir.
This must be the guy that started it all!
I always wondered where guys like Johnny Costa got their style and licks.
It's like Every Cocktail Pianist owes their lively hood to Eddie.
Maravillosa música, el alma se regocija; gracias.
Thank you so much for a very enjoyable evening.
I just saw "The Eddie Duchin Story" again on TV. I had seen it many years ago, and always remembered the name, but not the piano playing. Tyrone Power was apparently a pretty amazing pianist himself, although, I believe, it was really Carmen Cavallaro . Listening to this recording of Eddie Duchin's own playing I just dazzled at his wonderful technique and piano styling. Thanks for putting this on UA-cam. People like Eddie Duchin should not be forgotten.
Tyrone Power was a pretty amazing actor...he had never played the piano and spent hours learning the correct placement of his hands on the keyboard. Only accomplished pianists could really tell. Quite a feat of dexterity and coordination.
He was remarkable, and so were Eddie Duchin's arrangements and piano technique. I think of them all when I am playing great popular music.
Sarah Hearn-vonFoerster I find it hard to believe that he wasn't a trained pianist. His fingering was much too perfect in the film. Unfortunately, I don't know his biography.
There is a documentary explaining Tyrone Power's fantastic work on the " Eddie Duchin Story". I am a professional pianist and had to look it up for myself, because it was well done indeed.
Sarah Hearn-vonFoerster Thanks for your response. Would you be able to provide me with a link to the documentary or tell me how I can find it?
Go to Tyrone Power Documentary, and at 36:52 The Eddie Duchin Story explains how
much he practiced on a dummy keyboard.
Enjoy!
maravilloso eddy duchin junto a carmen cavallaro fueron dos pianistas extraordinarios sin contar los pianistas de color anteriores que fueron unos genios del teclado
Thank you for posting this. I shall have to purchase this so I can hear the other side.
thanks
Necesio recordar esta gran película MELODIA iNMORTAL con Tyrone Power y Kim Novak, Inolvidable Película y actores. Donde conseguirla? por favor.
A buddy over at McDonald's told me about Mr. Duchin. I'm a musical snob and was pretty skeptical. It's really tough to syncopate and leave that much melody shape. Goodness! How can I live 65 years and guys and girls like this I never heard of? I'd hate to try to find this LP today. I better watch the movie fellow commenters recommend. All kudos sir RIP and kudos mfluke44.
Sir,
Maybe if you were not such a snob, you would have been able to have known about the great talent of Eddie Duchin so much earlier. I hope that you learned a very expensive lesson here. When you are being a snob, the greatest gifts on earth and heaven can pass you right by.
I wonder at what other music you have snubbed? Are you a snob to Deanna Durbin as well? Who is she you may ask? Search her up on UA-cam.
Have a good day and keep a song in your heart as the great late Jane Froman would sing.

If I closed my eyes I would think it is Liberace playing.
Do you have Side 2 of this . I would love to listen.
Hello Janette. I hope this finds you well. I own this vinyl and just finished digitising and uploading a copy of both sides here: ua-cam.com/video/Zq5XlMbJXR0/v-deo.html
If you leave a message with your email I can send you a link where you can download the digital copy of the LP I made. I hope you enjoy listening.
