- L.C., the Harley Davidson Panhead is just about ready to go home. She starts well, runs well, should stop well, has a set of gas tanks, Man, she's almost ready to go home.
Pacific Mike,Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻it is a honor to be a viewer 💯 hope all is well.. see you out there one day
Thank You. I'll look forward to it.
Dad used duct tape instead of rim liner. I was amazed to see rim looking like new after 25 years
A lot of people do. It works great.
Mike...watching you put that tire back in I was helping you all the way...lol....Good video, Thanks
Don't strain. Take it easy. Glad you're helping. Keeps me from "overworking."
HOWdy Mike,
Rear BRAKE / SEAT & new TIRE ...
wow - Wow - WOWSER = that is some SEVERE Rust = surprised the Spokes did NOT pull through !!!
CHUBBY Tire for a HARD-TAIL

...
Yes, but it's nice.
Mike you definitely know how to make bad into great
I like that. Thank You.
Thanks for the knowledge.
Thank You.
Lucky that wheel didn’t collapse Mike👍
You bet. Didn't look good to me. If the hub has a good bearing surface, I'll keep it. But, the spokes and rim will go with the next scrap metal load.
Awesome Mike!!! I always enjoy your Vids and your instruction.
Thanks,
Big Dave
Thank You.
I think Kelsey wants a full rebuild or she does not like being messed with it all or the third option she does not want to leave you Mike LOL keep up the good work love the videos
She got more than I bargained for, but she's now running well. Good enough to go home.
Enjoyed the video.makes me wish I didn't sell my 75 sporty.
There are more out there.
I was an auto mechanic for many years and I never liked when somebody was watching me work...I hated it. I would stop until they left me alone.
Yah, but those brake shoes popped on like I was alone!
@@pacificmike9501 the next level as a master mechanic is to have the gift to teach others and deal with problems even when the bike didn't read the shop manual. :)
Thank you
You're welcome
Thanks mike an Mike L.C rules 1st
Thank You.
I know you got it covered but don't forget to tighten those Hub bolts... That could get really ugly...
Yes they could.
Magic Mike!
Thank You.
Always good company thanks friend 😊
Thank You
Always love stopping by the garage, I've seen you do thoes rear tires twice now so I'm ready to tackle mine, have a blessed week my friends.
Thank You. You too.
Thanks for the video Mike. Good reminder about checking your old rims!
Thank You
P.S. Mike, I had those tires on my 82 FXRS Shovel Head. They were nice in the rain. Glad I had then on. I always put 3 coats of good wax inside those wire rims win they're new before mounting inner tubes & tires. Also tall & fat rubber on both ends = a great handling and smooth rider. That wheel & new tire looks great installed.
Thank You
What tires are those?
nice looking bike. great practical advice nice movie
Glad you enjoyed it
It always seems that it wants to take 4 hands to get those tires on...doesnt it.....but they go with a little patience and persistence.........good job!!
Thank You
What you said about a lurking problem > Had that with a 72 Torino. Finally after going through it all. It was carted off to the scrap yard. I got another one that was worth restoring. You sure can tell a lot from the person who you buy something from as to what condition it's in. But sometimes the LEMON STRIKES=product is a piece of you know.
Yep. 72 Torino has that great front end. Looks like it might eat somebody.
You sure make that look easy , doing my own has never gone that smooth . You did that as quick as Wyatt and Billy .
Thank You.
Hey looking good without your glasses there Mike! I also learned that there should be a nylon washer underneath my seat bracket I'mma put that on as soon as I can. Thanks again for all your videos me and the girlfriend are learning so much from you.
Thank You. That's great. Nothing like a sweet partner to enjoy the adventure with. By the way, it's just a 1/4" nylon washer found at any hardware store.
Awesome 👍
Drum brakes always remind me of my dad. Every car we had until I was in my 20's had drums. Don't imagine they differ from bikes to cars very much. And I remember that white lithium grease. Such a stroll down memory lane (even thoughhe didn't work on bikes). Thanks for another great little video, and the nostalgia.
Til next time ✌
Thank you. My dad and I did a lot of brakes together. I get it.
I prefer drums over disc. And Non Powered ones. Never once had any problems with drums. Even when I used to race. Why so many crashes today? ABS will Not Stop you.
Always killing it Mike! keep it going boss!!!!
Thank You.
Ole L C sure has been given a good look-over by ya Mike. Making the old iron good as new. Thanks for sharing all the great progress on the ole girl.

Good evening Mike . How are you ? Thank you for this video.
I'm good and hope you are too. Thank You.
I am well , thank you
Great video as always. Damn I wanna change my rear brake to a drum. I love the mechanical simplicity of it.
They really do look cool. But, a modern disc brake will stop you better.
Hell yeah my brother
Thank You
Thanks for the video Mike & Mike. All your videos have been a huge help for me. This is my first time dealing with a Harley Panhead, rigid frame & machinal brake system, I study all your videos while dealing with my panhead project.
Glad to help.

Another good one, Mike--thank you.
Thanks for listening
Thanks for showing this great video. It's nice to do the same jobs and watch this at the same time. Learning from the pro. Thanks a lot!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Another great video and I love your suggestion about keep the water out of the good used rear rim and love the new motorcycle seat!! Be safe and good bless you and Cameraman too !
Thanks 👍

Would love to see you strap a go-pro out on a ride with you!
Maybe one day!
Hello, Go-Pro cameras don't really give us the great "Field of View" or Focal point. They Don't have a Microphone and they are having problems with their Software. ..... I promise that We are working on getting some "Action" Videos made and Published 👍🙂🤞🙏
Another great video as usual... ✌
Thank You.
First of all I just wanted to say thanks for all you do. You remind me of the Bob Ross of motorcycles. Always so calm and friendly in your voice and how you say that makes you happy I just here Bob and his happy trees. As for my question, you like in this video talk that you use a little wider tire than normal. If I may ask what size and brand tire are you using. I do like the look of that tire on there. Keep up the great videos I anticipate them ready to learn from your years of experience.
Wow, thanks. The tire is a Continental K112, MT90 X 16. It is a front or rear tire (directional, just flip it over). It is what I call comfortable tire, not high mileage, by my experience.
Hey Mike, you never said what the tire was. It looks like a Continental K112. I ran a Continental on my ridgid for years. It was the best riding tire I have ever come across. I didn't realize they still made them.
Yes, your are correct. I was told years ago, by an old buddy of mine that they still made that tire for use on rigid frames. He was the national sales manager for Continental Motorcycle Tires. We used to eat ice cream bars together at the trade shows.
Mike That back wheel looks like it was riding on th Beach on Salt water, Mike
We don't ask motorcycles where they've been.
@@pacificmike9501 That's funny. Thanks, as always for the videos. I may try that Continental on my '80 wide glide.
I never even thought of that Mike, but sure makes a lot of sense when washing your spoke rims. Are you going to Daytona Beach Bike Week coming up? Ever been ?
No, I'm afraid not. I really like a good party. But when the crowd gets that big? I did Sturgis a couple times ('til it got too big). I like the journey better than the destination.
@@pacificmike9501 right on brother the journey is always better than the destination. And to watch the same hundred people drive back and forth down one street gets a little boring after a while
id love to make my 62 a hard tail , but its about 90% original but the late plastic wiring an the foot board tread ... great vid
That's a very cool motorcycle with a beautiful "step frame." I'd love her as she is. 90 % original is a real rarity in a bike like that. You are quite fortunate (and comfortable).
Hey Mike, love the channel. Are you considering making some Pacific Mike merch? I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to support the channel and rock a Pacific Mike t-shirt.
Also a Pacific Mike blue work shirt would be pretty awesome.
Thank You. I'm thinking.

@@pacificmike9501 my credit card is waiting. 🤘
The seat looks good Mike you always do great work
Thank You. This was just to get my buddy back on his bike. Nothing fancy, but, down the road.

Is "Gozinta" German?
Not necessarily. Happens in all languages. We'd better study "General Semantics." Thank you.
@@pacificmike9501 I understand 👍
Another great trip down memory lane Mike!!! Love those rear mechanical brakes, we all know the fronts were just for show!!!
You know, on my own Panhead (Babydoll), we turned my front drum on a lathe and did everything up as it should be. The front brake is certainly not as good as a modern disc, but, it's quite good and I ride the mountains a lot.
Love the channel and your content Mike.....great videos man
Thank You.
Anyone notice how freely the rearwheel spun at 20min 40sec ? That's how it should be.
Thank You.
Funny how when putting on a rear tire. Its not hard. But sometimes they fight ya then plop its inline and on.
Yah. She got there pretty quick this time.
Great Video Mike - hope your back pain goes away soon - mine's been playing up too. Feel for you .
Routine. I didn't really notice.
Thanks for sharing 🍸
Thanks for watching!

Nice continental Tyre. , looked formiliar, i used to run on my Kawi
1977 kz650. A little while ago
Very cool
Great video, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Love those bars! You happen to know who makes them?
They are either original HD (probably). or, they may be Flanders #1. Either way, they have original Harley internal controls in them.
Mike who makes that tire? I've never seen that tread design I've seen others close great video info pal
It is a Continental K-112.
I love how HD thinks it's a good idea to secure a crucial safety item - the seat - with 1 bolt!
Don't over engineer it
I don't think I'm gonna get involved with this one.
Yeah, and we’d be swearing at them if you had to remove 15 bolts to remove a seat to get to your battery. :)
Howdy Mike! I've got an update to share with ya my friend. A few months ago, if you recall, you gave me some MUCH-APPRECIATED advice regarding the starter clutch on the old school custom'76 FXE I built. Good News is my scooters back together & she's lookin' & soundin' great!! Bad News is it's February and I live in North East Wyoming....I posted a short video of my bike here on UA-cam (mainly to share it with you.) Idk how to insert a link to it into my comment here, so when ya get a min, just search "FXE Basket Case" and she should pop right up. Thanks Again & Best Wishes My Friend!!!
Pretty! And, she sounds beautiful!

Do you have any videos on older softail models, working on a 99 softail that has been standing since 2014. Great videos thou!
You say "older Softail." Does that mean "Evo Softail?" The whole series on that Evo stoker is an "older sotail." Is that what you meant? If you mean Evos, go to our homepage and click on the word "videos."
@@pacificmike9501 thank you for responding, I'm still new to the channel so I'm not sure on what motorbikes you work on, I have a 99 Softail Standard, it has a V twin Evo motor 80 cubic inch.
Cool. Look at our videos on our homepage. We got stuff for you to look at. And, thank you.
Mike you always have great video. I was just wondering what size tire you put on that motorcycle. Thanks.
Continental K112, MT 90 X 16.
Another great video. Your videos always bring back memories. Some great, some not so great. Thanks Mike and Mike.
Someone already asked but I will also. Will you be going to Daytona for Bike Week? I know it's a long way, but I'd like to shake your hand.

Hello from Sweden🇸🇪. Looks nice with a comfyseat on LC👍. QUESTION...I know u don't advertise brands on tires Mike. But what brand is it? I have never seen a rusty rim like that before. My Springer Softail had some rust on the rear rim but not as bad as that. Took some time to remove rust and know it got paint on the inside of the rim. Have a nice weekend the 2 Mikes😎Kjell Blomstrand 🇸🇪.
Sure. It is a Continental K112. MT90 16. Still made today because they are so comfortable on a rigid.
@@pacificmike9501 Thank you👍. Next time i change rear tire i try that on the Springer or the Electra Glide. Kjell🇸🇪
I try to use the right tire for the job. This is what I run on old rigids.
A go's in ta that's a very spacial tool
Yah, I'm glad I have one.
Great work as always! Funny how the observer makes the job more difficult. I am trying to find a part for a 65A auto advance distributor. The part is the cam lobe. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry to drift off topic.
Try V-Twin. (Tedd Cycle)
Sorry, I can't find one listed. Try "Kickstart." Just a thought. This is a tough one.

✌
you make it look easy but i wouldn't want to do that on the side of the road.
It's amazing what you can do when you have to. We didn't always have cell phones. We didn't always get help. But the adventures have been fantastic. They're just "adventures."
Is removing the wheel from the drum a more effective method for wheel maintenance? I pulled my rear wheel for the first time for a new set of spokes and truing and took the drum and mechanism out with it. Would it be beneficial to mount the drum first when i put the wheel back on the bike?
I don't know which bike or model you have, but generally, Harley recommends removing the wheel from the brake drum. Look it up in the service manual. On a rear factory rigid, what you suggest is way difficult. This is what we're working on.
@@pacificmike9501 thanks for the reply. Mine is a 49 EL. I'll get deeper in my service manual once I get back to the states.
Hey Mike...Really enjoy your calmness in your videos and the content. You stated that the tire you have installed is fantastic for hardtails for comfort. What is the size and brand of tire and also pressure that is run? Thanks again.
I explained why it is still produced. It is a Continental K112. It is produced as an MT90 x 16. It is also produced as a 5.10 x 16. I run ery low pressure and I weigh very little. You'll have to experiment for yourself. Also, this is not a real high mileage tire.
Thanks Mike I really appreciate it Mike. I too @@pacificmike9501 weigh very little as I am now 79 and still riding hardtails
Then it's final! We ain't growin' up for nuthin'!
Hey mike...2 questions. What was the brand of fender insert you used? And what brand of animal was that rear tire. Id like to nab one for my rigid build.
The fender is back on step 18 of L.C.'s videos. Go to our homepage and click on the word "videos." The tire is a Continental K112, MT-90 16.
Fatter tyre give moe comfort on a rigid? I thought it was height of the sidewall that determined that
Yep. This tire is a perfect example. The width is a dimension that just has to be dealt with.
Hi 👋 Mike great videos, if you have time could you suggest proper tire pressure on 75 fxe, have new michelin commander two tires
Start with around 40 in the rear and 36 in the front. Experiment from there. Do you weigh 150 or 350? It's your preference.
👍🖖
Thank You
Does L.C. stand for something?
Yes. It stands for "Little Cousin."
Pretty sure you were supposed to put the chain on the sprocket before the axle
Okay. But not necessarily.
Hay Mike, you have anything on replaceing the rear tire on a old 1984 FLHTC with the enclosed rear chain?
I haven't done one in years. But, it's a great long lasting setup. Follow your service manual. Lift the bike up and remove the lug bolts to remove the wheel from its sprocket. That enclosed (oil bath) system is great. Just don't attack it without the guidance of your service manual. Most of them have been destroyed and it's a real shame.
@@pacificmike9501 thanks Mike. i will do that. my oil bath unit is still complete.
Luck you. The chain will outlast anything you've ever seen.
hi mike loive your videos what size tire and what brand im building a rigid evo n also have a 72 triumph rigid been riding for over 30 yrs thanks
The tire is a K112 Continental MT-90 X 16.

Mike may I ask what size cinch ear clamps you use on your oil line? I measured how I was told by the supplier and went with a clamp size (17.5mm) I was in the middle of the range and the hose is tight on the fitting but still turns.
Well, I dug one of mine out ( and it is stainless from McMaster Carr) and it is marked "17.0."
@@pacificmike9501 Thank you checking for me Mike appreciate it
I think I figured out the problem after knowing you were using 17mm, it's to due with the condition of the hose. I noticed how stretched out the hose was that was on it compared to a new piece so I tried the piece with another clamp and it's good to go. Thanks for your time.
What kind of tire is that?
Continental K112. (MT-90)

Mike I have a question. I use to run those a long time ago with a narrow front end. I'm running a 16 on front now what would be compatible with that one.
That tire is made to run in one direction one way, or, flip it over for the other way. It's beautifully labeled. They also make a tire in 18 and 19" to match for front. It is referred to as a "Conti Twin."
