  • Something in a completely different format this time! I took the second half of Magnus' speech at the Council of Nikaea and turned it into an audio drama monologue. I love how this turned out. I hope you you all like it.
The speech is interpreted and read from A Thousand Sons by Graham McNeill.
Magnus tries to convince the council on the continued use of the psykers in the legions, and tells an old tale to the audience...

I've been intending on doing a video like this for a while. This time you've got the whole package. Voice acting, music, sound effects, and a plenty of visual transitions! I'd love to do more videos like this, so I hope you like it 🤞After reading Master of Prospero and A Thousand Sons, Magus was instantly my favourite primarch. If you're new to the channel, subscribe for more Warhammer 40k voice acting content!

This is fantastic. Another excellent piece, it really shows Magnus’ overwhelming passion. Couldn’t have asked for a better rendition. Thank you Brother.

And thank you in return brother! Really glad you enjoyed it. Despite being the most supernatural, Magnus feels always feels more in tune with his human emotions than the other primarchs do. He's the only primarch I can think of other than Vulkan who displays genuine empathy for humanity, rather than helping them out a of a sense of duty to the Imperium, or honour as a warrior.

@@TalesOfTerraVA couldn’t agree more. While he isn’t my favourite, Magnus has always felt like one of the most overwhelmingly human of the Primarchs.

After the council, the emporor and russ would find magnus.
"Can we talk?" The emporor said.
Magnus looked at the emporor ashamed.
"You got what you wanted russ, now you wish to add insult to injury on top?"
    Russ said nothing.
"...i am sorry magnus. But there is a reason i rules like i did. However i wish to speak with you, mortarion, lorgar, curze, fulgrim and horus on a matter i have kept secret for a long time. Something for your ears only."
    Magnus seemed confused.
    "What for,is something wrong?"
"No,nothing like that. But it is something you 5 need to hear and see specificly. We will speak more of it upon molech."
    "I...i understand. Thank you father."
The emporor nodded. Before following russ eyed magnus.
"...i know it does not mean much coming from me. But i said some things i... probably shouldn't. For that i am sorry." Russ said, giving his hand to magnus. The sorcerer eyed Russ suspiciously but relented.
A week later, the primarchs and emporor arrived on molech.
"Why is he here?" Mortarion spat bitterly at magnus.
"Calm yourself brother. We are here for a reason. Can we not at least be civil in fathers presence?"
    Curze said nothing. Strange.
"This had better be good." Perturabo said darkly.
"More then you know, perturabo." The emporor said. He came with his custodes and horus.
"Why are we here father? What purpose does this serve?"
"I called you all here specifically because you need to know something i had not disclosed openly."
Mortarion eyed horus, the luna wolves primarch shook his head. The primarchs followed into the area.
"Now. Tell me,how familar are you with the warp, each of you?"
"I dont care." Perturabo said. Mortarion nodded in agreement.
"The warp is the realm of the gods,is it not?"
"Well, not quite but close lorgar, its more or less the realm of souls."
"While it is that magnus...it is more then that. Allow me to show you."
The primarchs there saw visions. Visions of the emporor on molech, stealing a sun from 4 shadows. The sun then morphed into 20 beings, kneeling or standing before him.
    Curze spoke. His voice sounded...sane.
"That...was us. Under the veneer of humanity you made us...we are-"
"Of the warp!?" Mortarion roared. Half in horror, half in rage.
"Yes. Though you are all human, you are more then that physically, emotionaly and spiritualy. Those shadows you saw are the ruinous powers, parasitic soul destroying creatures who twist the warp and realspace in there great "game" to rule the cosmos."
    The primarchs were speechless.
    "But why tell us specifically?"
"Because you are some of the few the chaos gods desire the most. You are all powerful in your own ways. Mortarion, you are a basiom aganst the dark and corruption, yet your blind hate and unwillingness to let go would spell your doom. Lorgar, you have faith and zeal, but that same faith and zeal can drive you to dammnation also. Curze...even though i have held your madness back, your sight would make you just as if not more sought out. Each of you has flaws the ruinous powers exploit, making you sell your humanity and soul at your lowest moments."
"I...thank you,for sharing this with us father. I know this was not easy."
Mortarion was silent...but spoke up again.
    "What do we do then?"
"The best armor aganst chaos is knowing your enemy and will. You will tell your brothers who do not know. Together. We will drive out chaos. This road we walk is paved in the blood of the alien, humanity and more. But it will be worth it when this darkness is broight low."
    Lorgar nodded.
"If this is the truth...then i am glad we know what to do."
    Magnus nodded.
"We will do as you asked."
The primarchs left, one by one before curze was last.
    "What...do we do now..."
"I need to help you. You,dorn and the others."
    To be continued....

Thanks so much! You and me both, I always liked their aesthetic since I was a kid, and after learning their lore, it just cemented my feelings.

Thank you for doing Magnus justice! He isn't my all-time favorite Primarch, but as a book nerd, I sympathize with his love of learning and the preservation of knowledge. Also, who wouldn't feel sorry for him after the burning of Prospero? I still haven't fully forgiven the Space Wolves for that, even if it wasn't 100% their fault.

I’m glad you think so! Yeah, for me the burning of Prospero is the most tragic event in the Heresy. It’s my favourite battle by far though. The insane feats the cult leaders perform were beyond superhuman. I can’t remember which cult leader controls the titan, but I thought that was particularly awesome.

This right here is where I lost all of my sympathy for Magnus; He tried to pursuade with a old tale and then changed it deliberately to suit his message, How could he think that the Emperor would never catch it.

    • @TalesOfTerraVA
      @TalesOfTerraVA  10 місяців тому +4

I think the big red guy was just using a little artistic licence! (I’m biased) Though he could have told the original version of the story and it still would’ve been effective. I imagine the Emperor didn’t care much about the change in the narrative.

    • @endymionmikel4022

@TalesOfTerraVA the original at least is a man who showed the world a truth he was killed for despite their betterment, he wanted to have a story that made him the hero where he was right without the lessons in the story. I'd imagine the emperor had heard that story at least 50000 times and was like oh really your gonna try and lie?

The original moral of the story could be interpreted as "If those people wanna be miserable for the rest of their lives, then fuck 'em." If he kept the story 100% the same, he'd be calling the entire court idiots just as the men in the cave were for killing their friend. Magnus didn't believe the people around him were idiots, just ignorant. It's not even really about him trying to appear a hero. Creating an optimistic ending for the benefit of others is pretty consistent with everything he ever set out to do.

Every time that Magnus had the chance to make a correct, informed decision, he instead does the exact wrong thing.
Being consistent is only a virtue if you're not a f**k-up.

That is some weapons-grade copium for listening to the obviously evil tentacle monster Maggie. Now, how about another joke?
