Lighting Design is one of my favorite categories!!! I love choosing chandeliers, pendants, sconces and lamps for our projects! What lighting element is your favorite?

We need a Texas/Southern video on ceiling fans. I hate hate hate them. But having circulating air in a room is the only thing that makes our heat and humidity about 6 months of the year bearable or affordable (running only central AC to cool will bankrupt most families). I've also wondered if an added dehumidifier would help.

That’d be very helpful info indeed! I’d love to change out my living room ceiling fan for a light fixture but can’t because we need the air flow. :(

@@countrysister700 that’s a great idea! We live in Arkansas and ceiling fans are ESSENTIAL😅and the good/stylish ones are kinda tricky to find!

As an artist and photographer I love picture lamps. Unfortunately they are very expensive. Lots of great information in this video. Thanks!

Very interesting video. Thanks for including the proper measurements when hanging a fixture or installing a wall sconce. In a future video, I would love to hear your thoughts about up lighting and how to use it effectively in a home.

Lately there is a trend which caughts my attention that I am starting to love and would like to hear more about it. It is a powder room pendant, which is usually thin, delicate and most of the time is gold color with glass, and it goes in one size of the sink. 😊

Yes - I love that trend as well in lieu of traditional sconces! It is an artistic use of lighting for sure

What great information! My favorite part was choosing the size and the height to hang chandeliers and pendant lighting. Thank you! What should one keep in mind regarding the metal color for a chandelier? It would be great to learn more about choosing metals and styles for chandeliers and pendants.

I love learning about this. I’m currently training to be an electrician, but I’d like to do lighting design on the side possibly. I feel like the two trades will compliment each other nicely.

    A couple Qs:
    1. If you have adjacent rooms (living room is open to kitchen, and can see the dining room lighting over the table from either of these rooms) but don’t want 2-3 of the same chandelier over all 2-3 areas (one over living room, but currently have a fan we use a lot… one over island, but can be two pendants, island is only 60” long, and one over dining room table through an archway from kitchen). How do you coordinate those fixtures to all be beautiful and different for each room (to give each room its own unique vibes) but also have them look good together?
    2. In my kitchen I want different types of lighting to really give it a cozy vibe… currently I have a chandelier over the island, can lights in the tray ceiling, and a smaller can light over the kitchen sink (plus lighting over the stove in the fan). I will for sure have a lamp in there. But I’m doing an open kitchen design with no upper cabinets and white stone walls and will have rustic wood shelves (that I need lighting over)…
    A. Should I do one larger chandelier over the island, keep the can light over the sink and add more can lights along the bottom of the tray ceiling above the shelves? B. Should I do one larger chandelier over the island and switch the over sink light to a hanging pendant or wall sconce and do can lights over shelves? C. Should I do one larger chandelier over the island and switch the over sink light to a hanging pendant or wall sconce and do wall sconces over shelves? D. Do two pendants over island and what type of lights from above choices for the over sink and wall?
    Thanks for your help!

Interesting, thanks for the insight. Really good information. Can you give a master class on chinoiserie? I love chinoiserie but have no idea how you choose it for a room. Are there design considerations to be looking for? For example repeat pattern, height of your wall vs pattern hight, why choose bottom to top vs side or top to bottom design.

Naked light bulbs that blind you are my pet hate, plus LCD lights can bring head aches on and interfere with sleep patterns particularly if they emit a blue light source.
