Nice interview! Abigail Morris is the most exciting front-person in rock music right now. Her performances are spectacular. She is charming and witty and can command an audience. Additionally, her lyrics have passion and depth. Based on other interviews I’ve seen, she already knows that songs like “On Your Side” and “Mirror” touch people in profound ways. I can add “The Feminine Urge” to that. I teach HS English and I inserted lyrics from “The Feminine Urge” into a recent poetry unit (a unit including the likes of Wordsworth, Shelley, Dickinson, Angelou, and e.e. cummings). ”The Feminine Urge” was well received by the students. TLDP is amazing! The musicianship is incredible, the writing is spectacular, and the performances are everything a rock concert is supposed to be. I wish them all continued and greater success! (And I look forward to them coming back to NYC!)
Excellent comment! Your students are most fortunate! One of the things that I have enjoyed most when watching the various concert clips of TLDP, is Abigail’s reaction to the audience response. She often giggles, seems almost disbelieving, and is clearly still very affected by the impact her lyrics, and the band’s collective performance, has upon the crowd. It’s all so heartfelt and TLDP often seem genuinely astonished. Her lyrics are beautiful, so rrrromantic, and full of vivid imagery. I am particularly fond of ‘You can hold my hair back, when you kiss me’ and it’s passionate delivery. We’ve all been there and it really captures the magic of an early embrace.

Abigail Morris has more onstage moves than anyone I've seen in recent years. She's inspiring to watch, hypnotic, has sex appeal coming out of her ears, and best of all she's a great vocalist. The rest of the band is of course similarly talented, but her stagecraft will always attract most of the eyes in the audience. Witchy woman indeed.
You're an excellent host (subscribed). I was wondering about Abigail's vocal background, thanks for asking her. All I knew prior to this was her singing in the school choir. I'm amazed by the smooth shifting dynamics and the fluidity of her vocals..The switches between loud and soft / chest and head voices are seamless. As for comparisons to other vocalists, including Florence - they're "shorthand" at best. This from an experienced record store owner: "Our customers (of all ages) most often make quick and easy comparisons to Kate Bush. And it’s not. But “Kate Bush” is apparently the shorthand for complex, dramatic and melodic female-sung music."
