Thank you for the great tutorial!
After 8 years of service, my Samsung C410W would only take in the paper half way and then get suck on the first print-job.
I always had to pull out the paper and restart the printer to make it work properly again.
I removed both pieces of rubber from the solenoid and replaced them with some rubber from a bicycle tube, which I attached with double-sided adhesive tape.
Now the printer works like new.

Wow, it is such an informative video. This fix gave my printer a second chance in life. I had to watch and rewatch it a few times. There were some tips missing like getting the front panel off and using a swiffer dry static wipe to clean up toner, but this nailed it so well, I could not express enough gratitude for you posting the how-to repair video. It's thankfully not too difficult.

I want to thank you for this excellent video! I have the C410W version and it didn't pick up the paper, and just as you described, when I used a flashlight to look into the printer I could see that it stood still inside. I found a solenoid on a websight in China, and ordered it from there, the cost was redicolous, about 8 Euros including getting it in my mailbox. Following your instructional video it was quite simple to change the solenoid, and after putting it all together again, the printer worked perfect!! So once again a big THANK YOU!

To add to the chorus, thank you so much for this video! Our Samsung CLX-3305FW has been having trouble picking up paper for years, leading to much frustration, until last week when it finally totally stopped! Thanks to the other comments here I didn't try to remove and replace the solenoid but simply removed the lower pad and taped the lower and upper areas with a tiny amount of electrical tape. I hope Samsung have rectified this design issue in newer models as otherwise the printer is pretty good and I'm impressed at the repairability.

Paolo, your video was great! I would never been able to diagnose nor fix my C460FX without it! Your instructions were perfectly detailed--I watched your video before I started the repair, and then watched it again (with lots of pausing!) as I stepped through the repair. I did not replace the solenoid, but like others, but put a mylar label on the rubber pads to prevent sticking (even though the pads did not seem to be breaking down). I crossed my fingers and it all worked after I put it all together.
The repair took me about 2 hours in total--I wish I was as proficient as you.
Thanks again for this great video!

Thanks! Did this on my C460w. I also lubricated the tap on the inner gear wheel to reduce the friction between solenoid arm and the gear wheel. I removed the little top foam piece and replaced it with double adhesive foam tape but left the top plastic on the tape stay on. Worked perfect after 2 years of fighting this printer and almost giving up.

Thanks pal. I'm a copier tech and have run into these issues in the past. We usually put a small piece of self stick mylar on the two sides of the solenoid. Trash picked a C410W that only had 769 prints through it. I put the mylars on and now I have a pretty much new printer. It was nice having your video to follow for the disassembly. Helped a lot. Thanks for the info --- I purchased a Samsung C460W for $20 that wasn't working due to a paper pickup issue. The steps for this unit were very close to your demonstration, however when it came time to pull the 4 sets of wires through the hole this unit had a small hole and I didn't bother passing the wires through. I proceeded to cover the foam on the solenoid (still attached to the unit) with Kapton tape and reassembled the unit.
The solenoid was fine, it was just the foam that broke down and became adherent so by covering the foam with Kapton tape the problem was resolved.

Great video, thanks Paulo. I was ready to go ahead with your fix, but could not see clearly if the roller was turning. So I took out the paper tray and then propped up the front of the printer about 8cm. Then the roller is not only visible but also accessible to clean. There is a little plastic tag to the right of the roller which detects the paper tray. if you press the tag and use a torch you can see the roller turning to try to feed when you press copy. Also a good time to clean the roller with a cloth soaked in iso-propyl alcohol. Be careful roller does not grab the cloth if you try this! Two other points your viewers might like to check: Place the tray and paper in a warm dry place for 24 hours. It's surprising how much humidity paper can absorb - this affects paper pick-up. Final point: make sure all the paper guides in the tray are snug against the paper - especially the one at the back of the tray (farthest from the roller). Doing all this got my printer working again without replacing the solenoid! Thanks again

Thanks this worked for me. Instead of removing the rubber I put nail varnish on which still didn't work. What worked for me was super gluing a couple of layers of card on top of the nail varnish so that the gap between the solenoid and lever was a bit closer. 2 layers did it for me. 3 layers was too much and the plastic gear was not being held. Works perfect now.

  •  9 місяців тому

Wonderful! Thankyou! Worked perfectly for me and my C460w. Like others, I fixed the solenoid instead of replacing it. the Rubber pad had drifted a bit and was no longer touching the "counter flange" that the rubber pad should bounce agains. I moved the rubber pad back tow where it was supposed to sit and also bent the counter flange a bit downwards to make the arm not swing as var from the solenoid. Everything seems to have worked.

I tried to disassemble and just cleaned the solenoid without taking it out and re-assemled the printer (C410W) - Proble still persists but at least I have familiarised with the procedure. I will have another go at trying to fix the solenoid with rubber or something similar before I look for a new part. The JC33-00025B somebody mentioned here seems to be reasonable in price (+£ 6-7 for postage) but not sure it is the correct one. Will post back in due time. Grazie ancora Paolo.

READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PURCHASE A NEW SPARE PART:
There is a %90 reason why the solenoid does not work, and that is the little rubber piece that acts as a "stop" of the spring loaded metal piece is "crushed". It has become so thin that the metal piece has not sufficient space for the electro-magnet to work. To fix this:
    - Follow the tutorial up to the point where he just replaces de solenoid.
    - Instead of replacing it, grab a piece of two sided rubber tape, or a piece of a rubber sandal or something and paste it between the previous rubber piece and the moving metal piece. It should be very thin, you don't want too much space either.
    - Re-assemble as the tutorial shows.
On another note: my C410w model (Argentina assembled model) has some differences that made working on it a little more difficult than the video:
    - They replaced some cables with ribbon cabling on the main pcb board, that prevented me from totally flipping the board to remove the loading tray screws. It was nerve wrecking to try to push the pcb board and remove the screws without em falling.
    - There is one extra screw to remove the loading tray, which is silver and is exactly below the first black screw he removes in the tutorial.
THANK you very much for this video!

My solenoid wasn't stuck cause of soft paddles got sticky so I just bent limiter slightly closer to solenoid (cause if latch far away from solenoid it may not produce enough force to move)
    And it works !

Awesome video thanks for saving my printer from the land fill. I would just add that I don't think you need a new part. It's just a coil of wire that generates a magnetic field -- not much can go wrong unless it gets shorted -- and mine was not. The problem is that the little spring loaded metal teeter rests on a small rubber pad. Over time the spring pressure will cause the rubber pad to permanently collapse, and then the metal teeter is too far away from the solenoid and the magnetic field cannot overcome the spring. So I just peeled off the old rubber pad and put a dab of hot glue there - it holds the teeter up higher now and problem solved!

The solenoid coil is 24v 120 Ohm. Glued a m3 washer under the foam stopper and it works again.

I have a question. Is that electronic part that you replaced common among printers? Can it be taken from another printer and used to repair a broken printer? Do you think other companies use the same part?
