    The clean method: Put cotton balls in a small zip lock bag. Add dollops of Vaseline. Close bag and knead the jelly into the cotton, making sure not to saturate the balls -- you need some dry fibers to catch the spark. Leave in bag until needed for use.

      Heat the vaseline in a pot. Soak the ball in melted vaseline. Allow to dry. Otherwise it's just all on the outside.

      @Jorge Garcia Jorge the vaseline metls real easy, as soon as it's liquid you can put your balls in. If you soak them fully then you wont have a fluffy bit to catch sparks - I recommend to half dunk them - it will spread a little further than this, but youve you a fluffy end to ignite more easily. Balls soaked liek this last way longer than the ones in this video. Good luck

      @Jorge Garcia it's petroleum jelly by the way so don't do it on a gas stove unless you to set your house on fire

    I use tampons, they are sealed and waterproof until you open them and have the Vaseline in the jar or ziplok bag. Open the tampon, break it open to show the cotton wool and dip it in the Vaseline. Works a treat.

    Matches > lighter, all lighters regardless of brand or even make will leak out eventually while there's literally match sticks from the 1900s that still will work and a huge plus side is that the powder can be crushed and used for "other stuff".

      Lovely Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Proutklarton Incredible Match Plan (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for getting an understanding of how to survive in a disaster and make your own survival food without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got amazing results with it.

    you can set fire to many foods we carry too like nuts , crackers noodles and other stuff . also if you have aerosol bug mozzie repellent you can use it like a flame thrower
    although this is a good idea too

    • @markylon
      @markylon 3 роки тому +3

      You need some dry cotton on the inside, soaking them doesn't give you any dry cotton which is required.

    • @JakeMarcin
      @JakeMarcin  3 роки тому +4

      No idea if it’s safe for food mate, wouldn’t use it to cook over but as a fire starter it should be fine, would burn away before you got the coals hot enough for cooking

  • @francoisnguyen6623

    It’s okay in a pinch. But the cotton balls burn out too quickly. Barely enough time for your main fuel (fire wood) to burn before the kindling and tinders burn to ashes
    I’ve seen other videos where they use melted candle wax mixed with dryer lints and wood shavings. They seem to last at least 8-10 mins.
    I haven’t tried any method yet.
