The clean method: Put cotton balls in a small zip lock bag. Add dollops of Vaseline. Close bag and knead the jelly into the cotton, making sure not to saturate the balls -- you need some dry fibers to catch the spark. Leave in bag until needed for use.
@Jorge Garcia Jorge the vaseline metls real easy, as soon as it's liquid you can put your balls in. If you soak them fully then you wont have a fluffy bit to catch sparks - I recommend to half dunk them - it will spread a little further than this, but youve you a fluffy end to ignite more easily. Balls soaked liek this last way longer than the ones in this video. Good luck
I use tampons, they are sealed and waterproof until you open them and have the Vaseline in the jar or ziplok bag. Open the tampon, break it open to show the cotton wool and dip it in the Vaseline. Works a treat.
Someone wrote about this idea from someone in the land under and said he rather use Vaseline and cotton balls. Now this video proves it for sure. Thx man.
Matches > lighter, all lighters regardless of brand or even make will leak out eventually while there's literally match sticks from the 1900s that still will work and a huge plus side is that the powder can be crushed and used for "other stuff".
Lovely Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Proutklarton Incredible Match Plan (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for getting an understanding of how to survive in a disaster and make your own survival food without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got amazing results with it.
Nice Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you researched - Proutklarton Incredible Match Plan (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great exclusive guide for getting an understanding of how to survive in a disaster and make your own survival food minus the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cooworker got cool results with it.
you can set fire to many foods we carry too like nuts , crackers noodles and other stuff . also if you have aerosol bug mozzie repellent you can use it like a flame thrower although this is a good idea too
No idea if it’s safe for food mate, wouldn’t use it to cook over but as a fire starter it should be fine, would burn away before you got the coals hot enough for cooking Thanks for watching and supporting :)
It’s okay in a pinch. But the cotton balls burn out too quickly. Barely enough time for your main fuel (fire wood) to burn before the kindling and tinders burn to ashes I’ve seen other videos where they use melted candle wax mixed with dryer lints and wood shavings. They seem to last at least 8-10 mins. I haven’t tried any method yet.
@@grassrootjames6092 I also discovered that vegetable cooking oil works. No melting required. I'm kicking myself for having spent so much money over the years on those Weber cubes to light my grill. Oh well.

Great idea!!
I use Fritos. Works great.
Heat the vaseline in a pot. Soak the ball in melted vaseline. Allow to dry. Otherwise it's just all on the outside.

@Jorge Garcia it's petroleum jelly by the way so don't do it on a gas stove unless you to set your house on fire

I use dryer lint mixed with fatwood shavings...mix it together real good and package
i dint think we have fatwood in australia
Thank you ...Going on my first Wild Camp for years ..👍
Exactly was i was looking for. Going on camping and fishing next week :)
Instructions unclear, I have lit my balls on fire while half listening to this video .
Now I am patiently awaiting the video about fire suppression
Great tip mate 👍
I'm just watching this because I like fires :}
:}fires like I because this watching just I’m
Fffffffire...FFFFFFFIRE

Thanks for watching, appreciate it
Wow this was incredible

nice video bro....
in every last one of our rucksacks we have vaseline and cotton balls..
I learned this decades ago when I was a kid.
Such a simple thing right!
@@JakeMarcin I never did, you may have just saved my ass! Thanks for posting this.
I have a bunch of these stashed in dip cans. They will also light up with a ferro rod.
Nice! One way to put a fire for overnight hunting. Thanks buddy!
No problem, thanks for watching, its light, water resistant and they burn long enough to get the fire going, enjoy :)
Nice little trick to have when you’re out camping or in a survival sitch.

Me being a cheapskate, I think this is awesome.
Yeah I couldn’t swallow the cost of the commercial fire starters either, this is way cheaper
Thank you Sir
gracias mate
Vaseline has many uses. Take them both separate so they can be used as is and then mox as needed.
nice!!!
Thank U!!!!!!!!
I've actually heard that Vaseline is similar to what the SR-71 uses for fuel which is stuff called JP-7!
Can't believe all these years I didn't know this trick
i just randomly thought about if you could set vaseline on fire and ig i found me answer
Tampons might be better as they're compact so you get more use out of them from picking it into pieces.
Tampon !! The commandos teach you this on training
Does the Vaseline reduce smoke too?
How long do they burn for?
i'm with you store bought tinder tabs are pointless and cost to much for a 2 min burn time! cotton an Vaseline can last for 10 min even heard 15 min
Works best if you puf in ziploc with vasolene and mix and let them soak. They will burn for 30 minutes
Ate u able to melt the Vaseline in the microwave and dip the cotton balls? Is there an issue with that method and why?
You need some dry cotton on the inside, soaking them doesn't give you any dry cotton which is required.
Nice hack, thank you for sharing. Can i use this for grilling of bbq along with charcoal, is it safe for food?
No idea if it’s safe for food mate, wouldn’t use it to cook over but as a fire starter it should be fine, would burn away before you got the coals hot enough for cooking

Animal fat from cooking works great too! And cheaper :-)

I find the Vaseline makes al the difference, without that, cotton balls arnt that great
people don't know this , so they buy
I use cotton soaked in gasoline for 6 months you can use toilet papper or anything so even when it's dry it will burn fast
Those poor cotton balls 😔
The struggle 😒😒🙁😔😔😕😕😔😭😭😣😣😞😞😩😩😫😫😢😢😥😔😔😔
Petroluem jelly is expensive. Use Soy wax instead.
No it’s not expensive
U can literally get one can for 2$ maybe, cotton balls for 1$ and u got urself a load of fire starters for 3$-4$ almost
It’s a $1.25 at Dollar Tree
welp ! not buying wax cubs again
Haha yeah, this is probably much cheaper :)
Aussie Hiker definitely, the Weber ones cost $5 a pop
Same. Because I wanted to play with fire, I melted my Vaseline in an old tuna can and dipped the cotton balls in the liquid to help saturate it.
deasttn smart idea

Drenched as much? It's either drenched or not drenched you can't have degrees of drenchedness
