- Let’s experiment and figure out this one together. I wanted to ignite a log cabin fire lay of Oak fuel wood without tinder or kindling using just one Vaseline saturated cotton ball. *** Notice how adding a ceiling made use of the heat lost from the burgeoning flame and caused it to impart that heat into the ceiling and side walls. Ahahhh!
Come see how great it turned out, follow the LINKs below, and SUBSCRIBE. Thank You!

That's the best spray and pray I've ever seen. the Doctor of Fire strikes again.
I sometimes do a demo for the survival portion of the hunter safety classes I teach. I put a cotton ball saturated with vaseline or bag balm on a pan, light it off with a ferro rod and a mora knife or other striker, then light a match. Once the match burns down to my fingers, I drop it and start talking about what you need to do to survive a night in the woods. After five or ten minutes or so, when I notice the cotton ball is almost out, I stop and talk about why a cotton ball and vaseline - or a piece of cotton clothing and a lot of other petroleum based fuels - ignited with a ferro rod - is far superior to matches.
I melt the vaseline in a can or small pot and dip the cotton balls. When I want to use one, I "fuzz" it out a bit by pulling fibers up. It will catch a spark about as well as anything else I've found and burns well and long. I fill up a small medicine bottle with them for my "what if" kits. You don't even have to use a whole cotton ball if you have good kindling; you can just tear half of it off.
👍👍👍
Definitely looks like a wet weather technique ,even if the cotton got a little damp seems like the Vaseline would work really well, plus the cover on top . This was enjoyable to watch. Have a blessed day in the Lord.

Vaseline cotton balls work very well. I really like melting paraffin wax and adding equal parts charcoal lighter fluid and dipping cotton balls into the mixture. Makes for a easy igniting, long burning Firestarter.

Great video Mr west thank you for sharing 👍👌🔥
Good video David , thanks for sharing , God bless brother !
This is awesome 🙌🙌
Waxed cotton balls burn for a long time. I like Vaseline cotton balls for wet conditions.
Got me into inventing mood…Flaming Jenna??? Fire Lagos???Lincoln torch logs??? I’m sure there’s a market somewhere.
Can cut large straw 1.5 inches long, hear a needle nose pliers to crimp and seal one end then stuff saturated cotton ball and Vaseline in straw and seal the other end. Keeps it dry, the catching of the cotton ball on fire then increased heat by melting burning plastic can catch damp to wet wood on fire.
Truly great materials for fire starters. Suggest people look up Clay Hayes here on youtube he has a similar video where he stuffs straws with this and melts/clamps both ends to seal it inside. Low in cost, light, compact, clean(as in doesnt make a mess in your pack), and effective. No better firestarter imo.
Plenty hot, just needed some air.
