  • This... Is... The... One! This DIY adjustable limb tree will be this year's hottest item... I have a feeling about it! Grow your woodworking business with "smalls"! Ready for the latest trends??? Let's break down some more builds!
Often, smaller items are looked over by new builders looking to make a name for themselves because they are looking for "that one build" that they can sell for a ton of money. They aren't considering the cost of the build and the time spent making it. Ultimately any business comes down to profit margins. I'll give you a few examples of how selling items that anyone can afford can generate crazy sales with minimal cost of goods sold!
Sometimes we overthink things when the most profitable items we are looking past. Let's change that.

You can also use a router to do the "tray" dado section. The blade on my miter is shaped like a V so it leaves a ridge on the cut creating a gap. Sanding could make uneven. Tried this a couple different ways. I felt cheap doing this since it's so simple, I made it out of hard wood after that, so I felt better charging a shit load. Lol

I have a bunch of 2x10 construction lumber I have little use for... until I see this easy peasy "tray" build. I can probably make 20 of these in an afternoon with what I have on-hand. I think I will put the fake live edge on the long ends (jigsaw method) and stain to walnut as a finish.

Matthew I want to thank you for posting videos. I've always wanted to try woodworking but your videos pushed me to do it. I love it. I am disabled so I'm buying my tools one at the time. I just ordered my pocket hole jig and just have my circular saw left to purchase to have all my basic tools purchased. I spend a lot of time alone at home and this has given me a new outlet for my boredom. The best thing is I've been able to build my work tables at a wheelchair level so it's easy to maneuver the wood at my different "stations". I'm the one that sent birdhouse and bird feeder pictures to you. It feels good to be 61 and find something new that I'm able to do. I've sold several pieces and you made that a reality for me. Thank you so very much!

Once more, a great video. I have to say when I saw the base for these I though of the little oval plaques they sell at DT as well as the round flat bottom glass crystals they sell in many colors in little net bags. Since they'll be painted anyway, doesn't matter what color they are. I also thought about the option of using a DT glass candle stick. Of course I'd either add cement where the center dowel goes in or something similar. Just my thoughts. On the risers, I've been using pickets and cut 1xs to run along the bottom to raise it up. Lol

Thanks again, and again for these helpful and informative videos! Always look forward to them. For that last tree, I think we can use dowel rods instead of branches for those who can't find enough branches. Thanks again!!!

Have you made a snowflake or a 3 dimensional star? A big version of either? I would love to see you break one of those down.

I make some of the items that I can. The thing is that I seem to be in a market that also never goes to PB and doesn't know they should be buying this stuff. lol... I love this series you do and enjoy making some of them.

Awesome video as always gotta say though the hardest part of making those trees has got to be drilling the hole directly in the center

Thank Matthew! You just cost me some serious housecleaning because I just snorted my cup of coffee through my nose and all over the kitchen : “it’s a bunch of sticks - tied together with a rope!” Oh Lord! My sides hurt. But I’m headed out to the fire pit to rescue some sticks. I’ll clean the kitchen later!!

I made something like this last year with mustaches for limbs. I sold a ton of them to barber shops. 3’ trees for $100 ea. and 2’ for $75 ea

Thank you for these amazing videos, Matthew. Do you have any videos with info about the economics of shipping and logistics? It seems easier to absorb on more expensive items but I would think it can add up real fast on small items when it would take a larger share of the profit.

Looking at the small dowel tree. you say the bottom limb is 9" and to subtract 1 1/8" from each limb going up the tree. Looking at your tree there are 9 limbs. However using your math the 8th limb would be 1 1/8" so what did you do for the 9th limb or am I missing something?

Due to circumstances beyond my control, (my neighbors don't like my new woodworking hobby.) and I do it all out my back yard, I've been forced to move my 'production-facilities' much farther out towards the back end of the lot, along with all these combustible materials(it's stacked/sorted, neatly in homemade wooden racks that I also made, so I can easily find what i need for the next project.) that I've collected, because I'm getting ready to have knee replacement surgeries in a few months. And once I get through all the pain, I'll need something to do while I'm recovering, and a wise man I know said "and be prepared for success!" I've got 5 large homemade wooden racks that are pretty full.
This 'move' has put a bit of a wrench in my building plans, and time frame for the holidays, but I should be back in the game in the next week or so. My next place, I just want a good 1/8th of a mile between us and our neighbors.😎Looking forward to having great Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for another inspirational video Brother. You're very much appreciated.

If you added a tray to hold small ornaments (from dollar tree?) - and twenty five little hooks or nails to that rounded limb tree it would be a great advent calender.

Really appreciate your informative videos! Newbie to DIY woodworking, after watching numerous videos on youtube almost got discouraged with the top-end equipment some of the youtubers use, but you simplifying these projects and encouraging people that they don't need expensive equipment, is awesome, thank you! Love from South Africa
