So light pollution causes sky glow which makes harder to see stars?
To separate sky glow from light pollution; shining a flash light at some bioluminescence entity in a body of water. The flash light would be light pollution and the surface of the water that turned bright would be sky glow..well water glow in this case?

Right! Light pollution causes sky glow and you can see that in the image over Phoenix from a distance. So, yes, the flashlight is light pollution for everywhere the light hits that the light is not suppose to hit. The dimming light that propagates through the water is the glow, so if you were down there with your flashlight, you might see a fish in the distance bathed in that glow. I was working on assignments for light pollution and posted these for the textbook and student's this spring semester. So, nice of you to join in the learning :D
