Is your goal mirror finish when using up to the synthetic strops? What’s your standard progression for a working edge like a hunting or kitchen knife? Great detail! Thanks for the video.

Yes, when I go up to the Nano strops I’m attempting to get the best polish I can get. Kitchen knives though, I don’t put nearly the effort into them. I find that the steels used in most normal everyday kitchen knives to be very soft so no matter what edge I put on them, they don’t last very long. I usually end up at 400 or 600 grit to finish them. As for hunting/skinning knives, of the 12-15 that I’ve done for folks I stop at at 1000 grit but finish it by using a strop to de-burr the edge. It leaves a nice keen edge while being toothy enough to have some good bite to start each cut. The guys I’ve done hunting knives for have been really happy with them.
Thanks for tuning in and let me know if you have any more questions. Merry Christmas

On wickededgeusa.com you can find the grit progression under the knowledge base tab. And it looks like they have the ceramics in stock as well.

I’m just curious, what would you use the super, super fine things for ? I’m going to get the wicked edge pro but wondering about the others. Thanks.

How long can you use the 3-micron tape before you have to replace it?

I usually change them after maybe 6 knives but I bet they work longer
