Yeah even when I wasn't a Whovian and knew next to nothing I knew that the doctor regenerates. That and the blue police telephone box. This was an epic reaction.
I love the scene with Jackie and Rose. Because you can see in Jackie’s face that she’s just furious that not only has the doctor taken her daughter away from her, he’s tampered with the very last memory she has of her husband. She hates him in that brief moment and I love her acting omg. And also ‘I am the bad wolf, I create myself’ and ‘I can see the whole of time and space, every single atom of your existence and i divide them’ are such coool lines

@@JekyViews That's one way of looking at it, and it's certainly valid and I understand it. I love the regenerations. I love the changing companions too, for the same reason. It's always sad when an incarnation or a beloved character leaves the show, but in my opinion the show is about change, and embracing it. Welcome aboard! You've just experienced your first regeneration. Imagine how people felt when they first did this back in 1966! When a Time Lord is dying they rewrite every cell in their body and reform a new body. Still the same person, but new body and slight shifts in personality and traits. Scotty Bee ok you are spoiling it which is not good. I only said a regeneration takes place every 4 years (3 seasons) cause it is a pattern that most fans know.
evildonkey sorry, yes I was talking about new who not the classic era. Also you have to take into account back on the 70s there were only 3 channels so more people would tune in from lack of choice. New who has to compete with hundreds of channel etc
Oh man! That ending made me cry! Christopher Eccleston was magnificent! He was my first Doctor, so the 9th will always have a special place in my heart! Keep up the awesome work brother!
10 is my first Doctor, but 11 is my favourite. I assume my parents watched the first series when I was a baby, but I don't remember Christopher Eccleston at all. I remember seeing Rose, but probably from her second series or other appearances.
15:29 Just that face, the "what the heck just happen?" face. XD You know, watching Series 1 over and over and over again (Cause every now and then there's a new Doctor Who Reactor) Christopher Ecceleston is the man that made this show keeps going on... The first actor who willing to revive this series Man... I have to be honest. I need more Ninth Doctor in the series...
A little bit of a late reply (just came across this channel and love watching new viewers react), but as a huge fan of Eccleston as well, if you'd like some more 9th Doctor stuff I highly recommend checking out Big Finish- Eccleston agreed to record the equivalent of 2 full seasons of audio drama stuff as the 9th Doctor for them and so far the ones that have released have been absolutely "Fantastic"! ❤️
I don’t think you entirely got it. A Time Lord can regenerate if the current incarnation has been ‘killed’ in some way, 9 did regenerate because he took the vortex out of Rose, but don’t expect that to be the reason for each Doctor to regenerate.
As lb d5300 says, this first happened in 1966. William Hartnell, the original doctor, was unwell and couldn't carry on, but Doctor Who was one of the most popular TV shows of the time so the writers came up with the idea of 'regeneration'. I love the fact that you had NO IDEA how different actors took the role, so you experienced the regeneration like people did 50 years ago, which is basically unheard of in the UK where pretty much everyone knows, even if they don't watch the show. As for Captain Jack, the spin off you need to watch is Torchwood (which you might have noticed mentioned in Episode 12). I would highly recommend that you watch Season 1 of Torchwood alongside Season 3 of Doctor Who (but not before), and Season 2 of Torchwood by the time you've finished Season 4 of Doctor Who, otherwise certain things might not have the same effect that they would without it. I tried to make that as unspoilery as possible...!
Your reaction to the regeneration was everything!!! 😂 This reaction was amazing, I can't wait to see the next one! (btw time lords dont need to absorb the time vortex from the tardis to regenerate, anything that 'kills' the doctor would make him regenerate instead of dying ☺, I know it's really confusing, but the show is crazy, incredible and unpredictable that way 😂)
If you think THIS episode was messing you up... You. Aint. Seen. NOTHIN. Yet. :D Great reaction, btw. One of the most unique responses to someone's first regeneration that I've seen!!!
Best Reaction of all time, The GOAT... No one ever tell this man one thing about Doctor Who. Get multiple shows ahead so people can't spoil you. It was like watching cats with that Blanket trick, fantastic. If you didn't know about Regenerations that was just GOAT!
You never forget your first regeneration! Great finale and awesome reaction! The acting from everyone was great and it had some good emotional moments. Sadly, this is the end of The Ninth Doctor’s run. Christopher Eccleston was fantastic and he will be missed a lot. This is your first regeneration experience and it will take a while to adjust to what’s happened. Welcome to the Tennant era. I know you’re like 5 episodes ahead already but I hope you enjoy the 10th Doctor and his era. It’s my personal favourite. :)
Its always sad when the doctor regenerates but you'll always end up loving the new version of the doctor (especially David Tennant who is my favourite doctor)
The first time I saw the Doctor regenerate was this episode five years back. I was shocked, I had no idea what to think, I had never seen anything quite like it. I knew there were other doctors but I just brushed it off as separate people the Doctor would encounter, boy was I wrong.
One of the best WHO reactions ..... of confusion that I've ever seen. I'm so glad you enjoyed Nine and can't wait to see future reactions of Ten. And welcome to the membership of Whovians.
OMG. Wow, wow, wow! What a brilliant reaction! Your reaction to your first regeneration has to be one of the best I've seen! Totally out of left field for you! 🤗🤗🤗🤗 I'm so pleased you got to experience it's fresh - just like we did in the classic series. My first Doctor was the 2nd incarnation and I remember my reaction to the change being just as mind blowing all these years later. You are now well and truly a member of the Who Universe! 😎😃😃😃
7:56 The Dalek's voice was cut off because there's no air in space. How on Earth would year hear in a vacuum? You wouldn't because you're not on Earth.
Timelords can regenerate 12 times (thus there can be 13 Doctors). Christopher Ecclestone was the 9th Doctor. It can happen after any fatal injury (nothing to do with the Tardis, that was just what injured him), and It’s not every season. Before the first episode of the next season, there is a 5 minute ‘minisode’ (which can be skipped), and then a Christmas special (which can *not* be skipped … 'Specials' aren’t bonus, they’re part of the ongoing storyline.)
Watching your face at his regeneration into his next incarnation made this reaction so much more awesome mate. So cool to see someone who had NFI what was going on, whereas most who know the series come to expect it. Loving it, and look forward to more from you my friend. A+, would buy from again. :)
That's Regeneration. Welcome. I was laughing so hard!!! I remember that was my reaction too. How could I watch it without The Doctor? Well, don't worry, The Doctor is still here. Bye wonderful Eccleston, hello amazing Tennant.
Oh my god...little late to the party, but just found your reactions and your reaction at the end to his regeneration made me bust a gut with laughter. The utter confusion on your face as you were registering what the Doctor was saying and you could see the wheels turning, stalling and then all together falling apart at the reveal was utterly fantastic!
That was a great reaction. I loved that you really had no idea what you were watching. As you will have gathered, the Doctor has regenerated eight times before. But given the state of special effects technology in the past previous regenerations mostly just involved the Doctor lying down with a wobbly video effect and getting up again as someone else. Compared to what went before this was truly spectactular and set a new standard for epic send-offs.
I know others have mentioned it here, but in layman terms, when the Doctor dies, he regenerates. A new body, even a personality change, but with the memories intact. Although the Doctor takes a while to fully recover them, usually an episode or 2. Hope that's not too much of a spoiler for you. :-)
I am excited to watch your journey in the 10th doctor era. This will be a joy to experience all over again! I love Smith but David was also one of my favorites of all time
Rose doesn’t change, since she’s not a Timelord. The Doctor (and the other Timelords) change when they get old or fatally wounded, it’s called “regeneration”. The heart of the TARDIS is not involved in that process at all, it’s only what destroyed the Ninth Doctors body and triggered his regeneration. Your first regeneration is big. But you never get used to it, trust me. I’ve seen em all (multiple times even)... :)
There is nothing in the entire multiverse that brings me more joy, than the look on people’s faces when The Doctor regenerates and they have never seen or heard about that concept.
I honestly loved your reaction to his regeneration, not knowing anything that was going to happen. Most people know how it works before they watch the show so it takes away that element of surprise. I started watching Doctor Who when it first came back in 2005 (because my dad watched it when it was still on) and I had no idea what was going to happen. And at this point, you might think “oh I won’t like this new guy. Who is this guy? I want the old one back.” and that’s okay. It always starts out like that. But give him some time and you will learn to love him. Every regeneration is a bit of a shock and always sad, and you start out not liking the new guy for a time, but after a while, you’ll love them just the same. And welcome to the era of Ten. He’s my favorite doctor and I think you’re gonna like him. :)
I can’t believe you didn’t know about regeneration!!!!! Omg that was hilarious 😂 This is my favorite Doctor too, I’m soooooo excited!!!! So many great episodes coming!
I literally watched all of these just to see your reaction to the regeneration. I actually cheated when I started watching and I knew Chris only did one series. Your reaction didn't disappoint lol
loved the stunned expression, mr. f - you are now a full member of the dr who 'what the ****' club! it was so sad to see Christopher depart the series but David is another great doctor and there are oodles of terrific episodes coming up - prepare to be not only stunned but stirred, startled and, on occasion, stymied - enjoy!
Absolutely loved this reaction! Never seen anyone react to a regeneration without knowing about them before! I hope no-one explains regenerations to you, it really is better if you lesrn about them as you carry on through all the series! Oh and I love listening to you trying to work things out while your watching but be careful not to talk over important bits.
Every time the Doctor receives fatal injuries that would most defiantly kill a human, he changes (regenerates). Every cell in his body repairs itself so he basicly cheats death. Every Time Lord can do it. He doesn't regenerate at the end of every series, Christopher Eclston just only stayed for one. Hope this helps Mickey.
the sould of tardis had nothing to do with the change, thats just what killed the doctor ^^ every timelord has basicly 13 lifes so you can regenerate 12 times, this was his 9th regeneration and the next is his 10th. you regenerate every time you die, so if you shoot the doctor or he falls bad on his head xD it has basicly the same effect like looking in the tardist, for a regeneration you just have to kill him :)
New subby! Love this season finally and always love seeing people fall in love with the Doctor. And cant wait to watch your react of David Tennant (my absolute favorite). Late comment but love your channel!
Great reaction 👏. Hope you keep watching the show as there's plenty of good things to come. Though some episodes could have been sent back in time and rewritten. Let's just say "paving stone".
DAVID TENNANT! THE GOD! This is bloody amazing. Oh my god. I've never seen anyone react to a regeneration who didn't know it was a thing/never seen it before. Like wow. You 'kill', seriously injur a timelord they will most likely regenerate, like if something regenerates it changes, rebuilds, that's what they do. But to move the show on, too, it's a new person entirely. But same alien/person if u will.
I can't speak for the ladies, but this episode gives an excellent example of why so many men loved Rose so much as a companion. It wasn't just because she was cute and smart, (not to mention huggable, lol) but because she also _strongly_ evoked the "protector" instinct in men.
Also - make sure you find the Christmas Episode (The Christmas Invasion) before you start season 2 - and if you can find the Pudsey Cutaway... a special scene that aired as part of comic relief just before the Christmas special aired in 2006
He didn’t change from the tarsus energy he changed because the tar did energy was killing him so he “regenerated” as it’s called to stop death. To do that he used regeneration energy which is in side time lords. That’s basically it. It gets a bit dofferent later on but at the moment that’s all you need to know!!
Everytime the doctor is dying in any way he regenerates his body. Each doctor isnt a separate time lord, its the same time lord. He just healed every cell in his body because they were dying. They still retain memories after regeneration
Love rewatching series one through your fresh eyes... fantastic! First time I saw I was devastated losing Eccleston... my first Doctor... now the Tennant era... next stop The Christmas Invasion and Series 2
In the old series the way regeneration was done was a simple transition from one actor to the next and in the 1996 movie from Doc 7 to 8 it was a morph. In Nu Who it was decided to portray regeneration as energy exploding from the arms and head. I didn’t watch the original series as I was only 4 when it ended but for a while I did think the title Doctor was passed from one person to another until I learned it was regeneration. Regeneration was not originally in the show, it was only because the first actor William Hartnell was sick and couldn’t carry on and they wanted to carry on with Doctor Who as it was a huge hit and ironically it was the Daleks who saved the show when some tv executives wanted to cancel it.
Dude if you’re puzzled, this is a very common part of Doctor Who/aspect of it. The Doctor, when he faces death by any means, changes every single cell of his body, to essentially give him a new appearance but he’s still the same Time Lord with the same memories. The process is called ‘regeneration’ and all Time Lords are capable of doing it 12 times I think. Goodbye Eccleston, you’re a great Ninth Doctor, but welcome David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor, my personal favourite too!!!

Basically Eccelston's Doctor died from absorbing the time vortex (what's inside the TARDIS), so he "renewed" himself and changed into the new Doctor.

Omg that was hilarious 😂
This is my favorite Doctor too, I’m soooooo excited!!!! So many great episodes coming!
You walking out the room was my favourite reaction I've ever seen so far, hahaha
"Now I know he can't die hes got a spinoff."
Me: 👀👀👀👀 is that so
I literally watched all of these just to see your reaction to the regeneration. I actually cheated when I started watching and I knew Chris only did one series. Your reaction didn't disappoint lol
LMAOOO as a whovian I was waiting for your reaction to the regeneration !!! you did not disappoint :)
Welcome to David’s era! The best time
loved the stunned expression, mr. f - you are now a full member of the dr who 'what the ****' club! it was so sad to see Christopher depart the series but David is another great doctor and there are oodles of terrific episodes coming up - prepare to be not only stunned but stirred, startled and, on occasion, stymied - enjoy!
And welcome Mr Tennant!
‘Exterminate’
I kinda figured that’
‘Belvita biscuits, the best way to start your day’
Bloody ads
New subby! Love this season finally and always love seeing people fall in love with the Doctor. And cant wait to watch your react of David Tennant (my absolute favorite). Late comment but love your channel!
lmao watching you struggle with the regeneration was absolute gold
Wow, a nube going in cold to a regeneration... great reaction on those grounds alone.
Seeing someone blind react to a regeneration is hilarious. I guess I kind of assumed everyone knows about it.
🤣😂🤣😂 Your face in the end!!! Totally speechless. Fantastic!
Omg your reaction when he regenerates😂 I knew it before I watched the show so I can't relate but its so funny I love your reaction vids
I remember watching this live on bbc one on 18th June 2005 was shocked myself
Everytime the doctor is dying in any way he regenerates his body. Each doctor isnt a separate time lord, its the same time lord. He just healed every cell in his body because they were dying. They still retain memories after regeneration
There is also a minisode before the Christmas Invasion. You can find it on UA-cam. 5 minutes or something.
"what does the license plate say? Badwolf?" ahahahaha the funniest shit ever.
@15:15 welcome to Doctor Who Failwhale84 or in other words “now you’re getting it” 😃
When he regenerated, my Dad literally thought that his head came off for a moment.
Love rewatching series one through your fresh eyes... fantastic! First time I saw I was devastated losing Eccleston... my first Doctor... now the Tennant era... next stop The Christmas Invasion and Series 2
I'm loving your reactions here. I've subscribed ^^
THIS GOT ME CRYING ALL OVER AGAIN BRO
this is genuinely the only blind reaction to regeneration that i have seen on yt
You should react to the mini episode "born again" before the next episode, it gives some good insight into the whole regeneration process😊
I cant believe you predicted who the bad wolf messages were from, props to ya
OMG!! Your "what the hell!!" is everything 😂😂😂😂
Your reaction at the end was amazing xD
Dude if you’re puzzled, this is a very common part of Doctor Who/aspect of it.
The Doctor, when he faces death by any means, changes every single cell of his body, to essentially give him a new appearance but he’s still the same Time Lord with the same memories.
The process is called ‘regeneration’ and all Time Lords are capable of doing it 12 times I think.
Goodbye Eccleston, you’re a great Ninth Doctor, but welcome David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor, my personal favourite too!!!
