It was becuase the Platforms back then they built Fitzalan - Meadowhall 1st using the 2nd platform so coming back it would have to clews cross into that platform now it used for all trams leaving the city also the 1st platform at Fitzalan was used for the blue route to spring Lane then later to townend and halfway when cathedral was built all trams terminated there until shalesmoor and Malin Bridge, Middlewood where built.
