Samsung Galaxy s4 and Nokia Lumia 920 are good smartphone . But I like Nokia Lumia 920 . Features of Nokia Lumia 920 :- 1. 8.7 MP Camera with Optical Image Stabilization 2. 1.5 GHz Processor & Windows Phone 8 OS 3. 4.5" PureMotion HD+ display screen 4. Pentaband LTE support; Qi Wireless Charging Features of Samsung Galaxy S4 :- 1. S Translater 2. Dual Shot 3. Recording 4. Smart Scroll 5. Samsung WatchON 6. Slimmer Yet Stronger
I've had my Lumia 920 for over 2 years, moved from WP8.0, to 8.1 now awaiting WP10. People still ask me "is that the same phone, or is that a new replacement?" Ageless.
i m thinking to buy a windows phone... plz give me some suggestion about it .. Should I buy it or should I go for android.I have short listed Nokia Lumia 920.
i had the Lumia one month so far, and its amazing believe me it is way cooler than it looks, if you want to be so easaly in social networks like twitter, facebook its just simple, the galaxy looks more filled with useless things, the camera of the Lumia is outstanding really its amazing you can make videos while shaking the phone and they will be still perfect, im not samsung fan at first place. s yea i like more the lumia but you better go and check both phones in some market and you decide
Yes the battery IS replaceable in the 920, you just have to take the screws out unfortunately. It took me about 5 minutes to replace the battery. (no prior experience) The S4 has better RAM and an SD slot, not to mention faster processor speeds. That being said we all know shortly that will become useless, because like every single Android phone on the market, it will start bogging down heavily. I have an S3 but I am switching to the 920 this week. I have a 32GB Micro SD card in my s3, and I have not even used half of my device memory much less the SD card. I do a lot of programming, so I keep editing apps etc. on my phone along with a lot of files. The embedded battery makes the phone more durable, so you do not have that cheap thin plastic cover. With the 8.1 update the OS is amazing, and I like the fact all my Office files can be synced. (like most people, I use office heavily).Everything is backed up on the cloud with a good bit of memory to use for free and more with paid. I also notice that this phone is compared with new phones like the S4 and the Iphone 5, and still kicking a** that in itself is pretty amazing. I remember the old Nokia brick phones, you could have holes in the the keypad from so much use and busted screen it still worked. I am glad to see Nokia making a comeback.
nokia lumia 920 is the second hammer set after the legendary nokia 3310 and the first of its kind in smart phones.. i'm still trying to get my hands on it but no luck.. wish i'll get it this year lol.. and after watching iphone 6 drop test video i've totally lost my faith on apple ;)... lol they are just making craps...
Thanks! A great, balanced review. Not sure if you do "major" firmware update reviews or not, on any phones (just saw this). That said, would be great to see a repeat, with the "Amber" and/or "GDR2" update to the 920, that's been going out. Might even be going out to other Nokia products, too. It addresses a few of the camera issues you've mentioned, with the Pro Cam app that's also new, that can be set as default. Plus - now I have FM radio! Thanks again.
Out of craziness I bought a pre-owned black Lumia 920 from a site similarly to eBay 3 weeks ago (I opt for Lumia 1520 but the condition sold online were mostly poor condition).. Though the Lumia 920 was running Windows 8.1, I was not really happy as there was a slight dent on the top corner (though not that noticeable if just a glance).. I went to a Nokia Service Centre and requested to change to a White housing (thank God they still have it).. Went back then installed Windows 10 Technical Preview at home and it's been an amazing device.. Now I have my daily driver, a white Galaxy Note 3 and a white Lumia 920 :p
Wow...the video that convinced me to get the S4. Two plus years later I am still rocking both phones. But after watching this video again and looking at my use of both phones, I would say that the 920 has done better in the long run. The S4 still beats the 920 in screen quality and battery life, but that is where it ends. Build quality, sound, call quality, camera, and operation fluidity goes to the 920. Fortunately I didn't have the dust front camera issue so that was a plus. Right now the S4 has become the backup mainly because it's become more laggy with the last Android update, but also because it looks bad. Will replace it soon with either a iPhone 6s or Note S6 Edge. As for the 920...still a smooth operating eye turner, but looking to trade it for a new high end Windows Phone as soon as something comes out. But I'm impressed by both phones that after 2 plus years they still function basically the same as the first day.
s4 is just too much in one phone... all those things it offers will eventually become useless... lots of party tricks to brag about with your friends but it feels cheap and i expect it to start lagging like all android phones do... nokia brings the quality to the phone market and i like it as do so many people... it brings the best out of a phone unlike s4 witch is a commercial for samsung it shouts look at me... if you want performance 1.9ghc 64+gb hd screen exc exc you should buy a pc or laptop not a bit of everything but nothing good...
I use Airview regularly. I'm a heavy e-mail user and the client with built in airview preview is brilliant. No longer do I have to go into each e-mail to read them, I can hover my finger over and read them all very quickly.
Thank you, the apps are not the priority, what counts is performance and stuff like mailing and document editing. About 928, I'm from EU and we're getting just 925, do you think 920 weight is annoying enough to go for 925 with just 16 gigs?
You guys seem like smartphone experts. What kind of smartphone do you think I should get? I'm a first time smartphone user and I'm getting one tommorow.
I thought that this video is going to help me to decide which phone to buy, but actually, it's much complicated now!...which one is much better the lumia or GS4?
I have been a Windows Phone/Mobile user since 2006, my last WP was the Lumia 920. I had issues with signal strength, battery life, and heat on the 920. People are always bragging about the camera on the 920, but I didn't buy a "smartphone" to become a photographer. That being said I recently purchased a Galaxy S4 (out of curiosity) and I love the phone. Its a lot smoother than I thought it would be, apps load right up just like Windows Phone and having a notification area is awesome.
Thank you and it is a pleasure to be of assistance. Just be sure to put it on charge before trying to install the updates. The latest updates are important to ensure the phone works well and as I previously said; before using the sat nav it is important to install maps or the sat nav and other apps which use map data will not work. I installed the maps for the whole of the UK and the download was about 250mb. Once you have installed the maps, you can use the sat nav when offline which is good.
actually i am coming from the iphone, but it will be cool learning how to use the WP8. And can you answer me if the lumia get hot when you are playing games? And can you conect the wifi from a long distance of the modem? thanks man, I really appreciate
Can you do programming on it, can you change your background wallpaper, can you add widgets, can you change the launcher? These are some things that you can't do on a Windows phone
The lumia screen won the direct sunlight test hands down as it was still visible while not perfect because the S4 was totally unreadable. At least you mentioned the shutter button. Not a fan of either really but thinking of picking up a 1020 or preferably a 1520. I have a microsoft 640 that I got for $60 and a Huawei on android I've had for years that cost me $325 back when, both are good bang for the buck. My sis in law and brother still use the original Galaxy S, but I don't think new samsungs have that kind of longevity.
No worries and I am sure you will not be disappointed as it is a great phone, but if you are coming from Android, be prepared for a steep learning curve as WP8 does take some getting used to at first, but once you get to grips with it, it is great. Also make sure you shop around before buying as Lumia 920’s have been coming down in price (in the UK) due to the imminent launch of the 928. I hope you enjoy your new phone and best wishes :-)
The Lumia 920 is the first mass produced smartphone (or mainstream, or whatever word for that is) to utilize wireless charging and a super sensitive touch screen that can be used with a glove on. It is also the first smartphone to have OIS for smooth video recording and really good nighttime pictures. Windows Phone also integrates camera apps with their camera. I'd say that's innovative. Of course, the Galaxy S3 and S4 are pretty innovative too.
really liked this review, it went deep into all interesting features both phones had to offer, personally I would go for the lumia as well because I'm not a big fan of android, I still think windows phone delivers a overall bigger and smoother experience, and it would be nice if samsung delivers awesome hardware for a windows phone
good unbiased review. Don't forget that the 920 costs a lot less than s4. $100 vs $200 with contract, and $500 vs $700-800 without. Between these two, I would go with Lumia 920 simply for its look and feel. The s4, as you said, is like a piece of plastic toy phone.
oh thats great because the iphone 4 has a weak wifi, I have to be closer to the modem as I want to connect. Thanks again for all the answers, you make me feel confident about the nokia lumia 920, I hope the best for you !
Though it may sound silly, I will be getting a Nokia Lumia 520 for a cheap phone just to play with since aside from the major selling points, 520 and 920 at the core should be the same, But you have confirmed for me that I will be getting the S4 sometime early next year sometime, by then a new one should be out and S4 will be cheaper and older , but not to old that it won't be useful. I like the WP 8 but I will continue to support Android and try them both out. Thanks
My Lumia is perfect, no problems at all, however I do have a friend who had a self inflicted problem with his. He was in such a hurry to use his new Lumia 920 that he attempted to do a wi-fi update before charging the battery and the battery went flat during the update, this then caused a failure as the update was only partially installed. He had to do a complete reset to fix the problem following his error. I have had mine for a few weeks now and it is true what the reviews say;brilliant camera
this is a very good comparison and it's answered many questions others didn't. and since I need a phone that can survive heavy blows and function well.. .Lumia is my choice
Actually I am from Brazil, but I thing is the same proceeding to download the maps. I will be very careful because here in Brazil the Lumia 920 is very expensive and difficult to find. Am I warn about this updates in my phone or I need to look for it on the internet?
on a similar note, for HTC one series too....they came just back to back, what was the need to do so and why did HTC flood market with different phones in the same price segments.
Wov! Can I really create my own widgets directly on my S4? I have only had this phone maybe 24 days but I did not know THAT Then it could be a lot cooler than my Lumia 920 as I'm also a progammer (but don't much like to do it at home) Any direct links, please?
I agree, a lot of Android users will defend the lag by saying " well you can use a different launcher or flash another rom" That should not be the case, and further more this Samsung touchwiz is way to much. Every year they add crazy extensive featured that no one will use. It's light when holding and to many colors for my liking.
The battery on my Lumia 920 easily gets through every day. It's very much on par with the iPhone 5 from what I've heard, so it's really not all that bad. Don't know how long the S4 battery holds, but really, would you not charge the phone every night anyways?
Lumia battery life is amazing! If I kept battery saver on without a lot internet use I could easily go through two, if not three days of use between charges (presuming you turn it off at night). What do you mean about downloading on facebook? I had a droid before and don't remember doing that.
I don't disagree, but it doesn't change the fact that many people can't get the apps they want on that platform and updates are few and far between, features are way behind the other platforms. I actually really like WP8. It just needs more support.
Nokia never cheats benchmarks, copy others, pay trolls. Etc. respect
Samsung Galaxy s4 and Nokia Lumia 920 are good smartphone . But I like Nokia Lumia 920 .
Features of Nokia Lumia 920 :-
1. 8.7 MP Camera with Optical Image Stabilization
2. 1.5 GHz Processor & Windows Phone 8 OS

Features of Samsung Galaxy S4 :-
1. S Translater
2. Dual Shot
3. Recording
4. Smart Scroll
5. Samsung WatchON
6. Slimmer Yet Stronger

live tiles makes windows phone different. lumia 920 is the best.
Lumia 920 much more appealing and better hardware and software as far as I'm concerned. Both still brilliant designs
I've had my Lumia 920 for over 2 years, moved from WP8.0, to 8.1 now awaiting WP10. People still ask me "is that the same phone, or is that a new replacement?" Ageless.
i m thinking to buy a windows phone... plz give me some suggestion about it .. Should I buy it or should I go for android.I have short listed Nokia Lumia 920.
if you're a gamer & appfreak go for android , if you want the basic stuff,a more stylish interface and the best camera for that money , buy a 920

Excellent comparison. Can't wait for your review of the Lumia 928.
Lumia 920 the best
can you recommend for me what is the best smart phone to buy with 200-250$ budget this days?
LUMIA 920 THE BEST
That was one of the best phone review/comparison I have ever seen. Well done
Lumia off course
I Loved this comparison! Thank you pocketnow. The comparisons seem to be getting less and less biased. Beautiful!
Samsung of course, Android has so much more apps and features.
More apps, but how many flashlight(using this as an example only) apps do you need?
Your reviews are second to none most of the time. Thanks.
I thought that most people prefer Android I thought that I am the only one who likes windows phone 8

You guys seem like smartphone experts. What kind of smartphone do you think I should get? I'm a first time smartphone user and I'm getting one tommorow.
I'm getting the HTC One. I just listen to the reviews cos this guy is fantastic. Wish all reviewers were this good.
I like that the Lumia 920 was competing with the S3 AND the S4..
Just shows ow good the phone actually is.
Have one myself btw and I'm loving it :)

I love my Lumia 920! :X The best!
I add also with the Nokia you have live tiles which are constantly streaming content, of course the battery drains quicker.
Do you know when 8.1 is going to come out and will it be available for lumia 720? :)
Thank you and it is a pleasure to be of assistance. Just be sure to put it on charge before trying to install the updates. Nice comparison, really helpful!
No worries and I am sure you will not be disappointed as it is a great phone, but if you are coming from Android, be prepared for a steep learning curve as WP8 does take some getting used to at first, but once you get to grips with it, it is great. what's your experience with WP 8? I don't know which one to go for, htc one or lumia 920
Thanks, I hope you guys will do it.
really liked this review, it went deep into all interesting features both phones had to offer, personally I would go for the lumia as well because I'm not a big fan of android, I still think windows phone delivers a overall bigger and smoother experience, and it would be nice if samsung delivers awesome hardware for a windows phone
Great comparison and cool glasses.
This is one of the most unbiased reviews I have seen. I appreciate that. I
good unbiased review. Don't forget that the 920 costs a lot less than s4. $100 vs $200 with contract, and $500 vs $700-800 without. Between these two, I would go with Lumia 920 simply for its look and feel. The s4, as you said, is like a piece of plastic toy phone.
why do you wear yellow glasses? :) just asking, please answer
About the screen, you forgot to mention that you can manipulate with your Nokia using gloves, that is useful.
Had to mention that this was a great comparison
Thank you for the great review!
You should go through all the phones from the galaxy line, comparing how it has changed over time
lumia too old to buy now? or is it still great?
920 you mean? Its too old in 2016, at least get the Lumia 930
oh thats great because the iphone 4 has a weak wifi, I have to be closer to the modem as I want to connect. Thanks again for all the answers, you make me feel confident about the nokia lumia 920, I hope the best for you !
You seem more like taking side to Lumia !!
BTW: I like that "ready to take your money" part :)
I think you got these signs messed up . > means superior and < means inferior.
I've been waiting for this so long THANK YOU!!!!
That's something that I would really be interested in watching.
heeey im using a nokia lumia right now but what is the battery app you use in the video?
thanks man for the review and the answer. I will buy my lumia 920 this week ;)
Completely agree. The point is, its up to every individuals needs. Still I have high hopes for Windows phone and still using my Lumia.

that background on the gs4 looks soooooooooooooo nice
I love the color commentary, "last years American darling" :)
Great informed vid . Thanks from Scotland
The front facing camera pic from the GS4 was pretty sharp
gained you a new subscriber today (me)
this is a very good comparison and it's answered many questions others didn't. and since I need a phone that can survive heavy blows and function well.. .Lumia is my choice
Actually I am from Brazil, but I thing is the same proceeding to download the maps. I will be very careful because here in Brazil the Lumia 920 is very expensive and difficult to find. Am I warn about this updates in my phone or I need to look for it on the internet?
Nobody makes phones that are equally tough and sleek like Nokia.
Good to see the Nokia 8 carrying the same solidity and design language.
hello.. i wanted to buy a windows phone.. so should i go for htc 8x or lumia 920?? any difference between this 2??
on a similar note, for HTC one series too....they came just back to back, what was the need to do so and why did HTC flood market with different phones in the same price segments.

I love my Lumia 920 and WP8. The video and sound quality is outstanding and WP8 is a pleasure to use. There's no going back to Android for me.
man, i wanna buy a lumia 920, but i am a little afraid because some reports about lumia problems. do your have had those problems?
I don't disagree, but it doesn't change the fact that many people can't get the apps they want on that platform and updates are few and far between, features are way behind the other platforms.
I actually really like WP8. It just needs more support.
Guys, seriously, make a comparison between the GS4 and the Nexus 4? Should I save the money, or is't worth it?
Very good review!
