Welcome to the former village of Montrouge, known today as the 14th arrondissement.
This is a peaceful, non touristy part of Paris, and I hope you enjoy following me today as we stroll around, meet a (former) local, movie director Agnès Varda, and follow the famous rue Daguerre, an authentic Parisian market street.

Bonjour...I have a friend in the 14th em and this young lady made me feel like I'm beside her...she is very polite and gracious to those around her. Merci beaucoup..tres bien.
Just wonderful! Merci, Véro! Best France content out there.❤
Thanks for another charming video. This section of the 14th looks like a real neighbourhood - where people actually live.
It is, Mike.
Lovely walk. I enjoyed seeing the diversity of the buildings. So intriguing. Love the walk along the varies food choices and shops. I long to have that here. The Resistance Museum is a definate on my next visit. Thanks much for sharing. It's always a joy to see.
Hope you make it to the 14th arrondissement Debra. It's well worth a visit.
Wonderful. I am moving to Paris in October and the 14th was recommended to me.
Your strolls are always a revelation. Merci bien !
Merci Susan.
We stayed at Villa Montparnasse on Rue Boulard while visiting our daughter who was an au pair for a year in Meudon, outside of Paris. The best part of each day was returning to our hotel walking down the Rue Daguerre past all the beautiful shops. Thank you for this walking tour. It brought back so many wonderful memories and confirms, if we can go back again, we will stay in the same area.
Great to see you back in Paris. This is where you do your best work.
Is that right? Glad you enjoyed this stroll.
In recognition of your birthday and wonderful impromptu tours. Celebrate with an apéro !
Merci beaucoup Susan!
Lovely
This was an exceptional walk-- what a treat! I want to get a sweet brioche and sit on a bench in the little park and take it all in again :-)
Ha. Merci Avi!
Loved this stroll in an area so interesting that I have never visited.
You'll need to go...
One of your best walks ever! The Paris I knew in 1974-75 during my Junior year abroad with NYU. The squares, the terraces, the mairie, the mural of Agnes Varda and of the gorgeous gem of a movie, “Cléo de 5 a 7», and so many more untouristy images. Can you believe that I actually had a friend who lived on the rue Daguerre, and I never visited it! Now, thanks to you, this is the neighborhood where I will stay on my next trip to Paris. I lived on the rue St. Jacques, and had to transfer the metro at the Denfert-Rochereau station. Now, thanks to you, I know who Denfert-Rochereau is! What a brilliant impromptu tour of a Paris most tourists don’t see! It is 10:12 am in Washington, D.C., and you have made my day! Merci mille fois, Véro!
Thank you for the kind words. I am glad you enjoyed the tour. Yes, Paris "off the beaten path" still exists. When you get lucky, you can catch glimpses of it. A bientôt.
Bonjour Véro 😊
Bonjour!
The sound (comments) is out of sync with the footage, a minute or so.... :(
Any recomendations for a hotel in this area Thanks for your videos.
I've only stayed at the humble 2-star "Hôtel du Lion" on place Denfert Rochereau I am afraid. Great location but prices have gone up in recent months, unfortunately, like everywhere else.
Thanks so much. It looks like a nice small hotel with everything you need. Metro is close by and many restaurants. I will consider it. Thanks again.
@@francewithvero I’m staying in Hotel du Lion when I visit in April! 🤍
bonjour j'ai découvert vos vidéos depuis 1 semaine. Amusant car j'habite Tours et j'ai travaillé quelques années sur Montparnasse 😊
Thank you for making videos about Paris which are so rare because you aim the subject on the city not yourself. That makes you a rare treasure on UA-cam!
Thank you for your very informative videos. We will be visiting Paris and Tours in June from New Zeakand. 😊
I am so glad that you are still touring for RS. I will be there in Paris near the end of June, and hope that you are my guide! Terrific video tours!
What an odd thing to see at about 0:31 in the video! A pair of boots upside down on the protective railing around the tree you walked past! Lost property? How did they lose their footwear?!
Another Parisian mystery?
