Thank you! In my case I opted to do a thesis composed by a compendium of articles (under the same topic) and, even though It puts extra pressure the fact that you must publish them soon, at the end it totally worth it because when I finished my PhD I already had those works published...
In Malaysia, we have PhD through publication, however, it's just an alternative route of a thesis. So, instead of submitting a thesis, students can submit published papers, although there has to be a story, no projects from here and there, rather the objectives should be connected with one another. Of course, students need to enroll in the study and spend at least 2 years in the project before submitting and defending this publication route PhD. I am sharing my experience based on Medical Sciences-associated PhD.
I have been offered an opportunity to enrol in such a program in Malaysia. Please can you provide more guidance? like can, we get a tenure track position at a university, after completing such a doctoral degree? Also are researchers at risk, if a reputable journal does not publish their papers for whatever reasons?
I am currently preparing multiple journal to fulfill PhD by publication, the option is to combine multiple journal on similar or interelated topic of research, must be supported by an integrates thesis of about 20k words.
"I don't know, people do that! People do that. Nobody does that on my videos. I don't know. Sometimes I think I've got some quotable shit." Quotable shit right there.
Does it hinder or help to co author peer reviewed journal articles with other academics? I’d like to co write with someone else but don’t want to over complicate doing a PhD later.
