I had an XPS 15 9560 and got a lot of issues with it, had to return a coil whining unit, screen had to be replaced a couple times due to severe backlight bleed and lcd failure, thermal throttling became a big issue, I had to get rid of it after 2 years and it didn't hold its value well. I was hoping the new lineup would bring better quality assurance but it's not the case.

    I have the Blade 15 base, compared to my brothers mac book pro, I am definitely more happier with my laptop. However, the keyboard on the mac book does feel nice, also the speakers, but not too much concerned as I have wireless headphones. I am very happy with the 144 Hz screen. Holy donuts, what a difference! You can definitely see the comparison. personally, I found a razer blade studio at a great price, and I cant actually see a good reason to buy a mac, not because its bad, but because apple while innovating is actually going to screw me over in the future, and also the fact that apple cant just get a good gpu (yes amd fanboi's their gpu line needs alot of work still, unlike their cpu line.) personally I cant see a good reason to buy a mac unless you need a long battery life, and even then, you need to buy a pro as their air 2018-2020 was purposely made to kill the intel cpu's (anyone with enough money could make money back on apples active sabotage.) what I will say to other razer laptops. while the black finish looks good, I personally prefer the mercury white, the keyboard is ok, not great, but to me I actually like their old keyboard over the "fixed" keyboard, yeah I type slower but that up and down arrow key at full size makes it easier for some games. apple has better keyboards, but if you need a good keyboard, just plug a keyboard in, or dont complain. yeah apple has a nice resolution, but from the oled and apples screen... welp I'm going to say going back is not going to be fun. and finally, the video editing, yeah mines is usually a bit more expensive, buuuut I also can use my laptop todo a video no problem (going to start elite dangerous exploration vids so watch for that.) in conclusion while you can have a mac, or a razer... do you really need either? I mean, if you're a fan of either, ok, but in all reality I feel apple is just bad in their thin and lite department and otherwise they're just o.k. while razer is just apple but more power for more money plugged in. at the price of a razer, or a fully equipped mac, you could buy a decent laptop, a decent desktop that matches performance, and maybe some other things. but I only do this because I actually wanted todo this.

      that's on the 2016 through 2017. they solved the issue on 2018 and that is why they went with a 16" in 2019. I got the 2018, no issues except when I am doing some heavy graphics, but that will happen with any laptop with me. Unless you're going to be plugged in almost all the time, go with the Macbook Pro. PC laptops are severely gimped once they are on battery power, and this small battery will get you less than three hours of use in real-world productivity. But if you're pretty much just replacing a desktop with a laptop and need actual rendering speed (most 3D doesn't use graphics cards until you render), then maybe consider the Razor. However, if I was going to have a desktop and was only going to get a 2060 graphics card, I'd get the Dell XPS 17 (same size chassie with a bigger screen). Only go with the Razor if you're going to go 2070 or 2080. Just my opinion. Good luck.

I love it except I wish I would coughed up the extra $100 or so to just get a 13 inch MacBook Pro. The Stealth has great build in the chassis but the absolute worst trackpad I’ve ever used and the screw isn’t that bright compared to the Mac. I would love to upgrade to the Razer 17 at some point. You can connect any gaming laptop to a 4k display. If most of the time you are at a desk using it, the full HD display becomes less critical. Then, the price difference is harder to justify. The legion has a 144 hertz display, and you are right, its hard to look at a 30hz 4k display after looking at a 144hz screen. The apple has no ethernet card.

    I actually have a 2015 15" retina macbook pro. Just got a Razer Blade 2019 RTX 2070. Everything you said was spot on. True gaming on the macbook isn't possible especially with an integrated GPU. Macbook for productivity and beautiful retina screen for sure. Razer Blade for amazing refresh rate and true gaming. I'm playing almost every game at Ultra without frame issues. Got best of both worlds.

    Undervolting doesn't mean that you're getting less performance. Performance depends on clock speeds. And undervolting means to give processor a reduced voltage to make it run at same speed. You're confusing undervolting with underclocking.

    What you're paying for is quality and assurance. As specced out as Razers can be, my experience with them (after owning 2, the Blade Stealth 13" 2016 and 2019) is that they have terrible quality. The anodized aluminum scrapes easily, and the unibody casing does not protect the flimsy screen or internal casing. The 2nd one failed after just 3 months of usage, and Razer customer support was a constant uphill battle. I got it repaired after 2 months of waiting, and promptly sold the machine back for a Macbook.

I’ve never found any other laptop that’s so versatile like the MacBook. Other laptops are just so chunky or the charger is just so huge its just annoying because if you’re a student its just tiring carrying those things around. Im glad i made the switch tho laptops are meant to be light and easy to carry around at least thats how i see it. But then again im speaking from a student’s point of view im no editor or anything haha. So if you’re really just gonna use your laptop for school and work i think u can take my advice.

    Hey man, thanks for posting this video. I have to tell you this though, hope you can give me some feedback, would love your opinion: i bought the Razer Blade 15" Base model in December 2019 after about 2 months of research online. I had been using Apple for over 10 years for graphic design, photography and video editing, but because of crazy prices and lack of possibilities to upgrade a Mac, i decided to buy the Razer Blade for working remotely. Took the Razer Blade on a trip to Bali and 3 weeks later, while still in Bali, it stop letting me charge it. Ir became a crazy nightmare especially because of Covid19 and trying to get in touch with an agent in Razer, but I finally did, customer service has been very supporting and they sent me a new charger, unfortunately, i plugged it in and it didn't work, so the problem was not the charger. Now, after many months of back and forward, they are going to help me replacing the unit with a new one, however, i don't feel like I trust the machine anymore, and I'm thinking about selling the new one they will send and buying an Apple, so my question is: have you heard of many people having issues with the quality of the Razer Blade? It doesn't seem to be a reliable machine to me anymore, plus, i have seen a few forums with people complaining about similar battery issues, so your thoughts and experience will be highly appreciated. Cheers for your great content, keep it up and Thanks!

However, I've just recently changed jobs/careers, and my new company told me they're sending me a Razer Blade 15, which for various reasons is a much better fit for the work I'll be doing there. So, while I wait for it to arrive, it was good to see a bit more about how they'll be different, besides the Windows/Mac OSX, of course.

    I've been researching about what hardware to upgrade for the MacBook Pro 16", but I really can't decide yet. I want to use the MacBook for video editing (photos on the side), and I don't want to spend too much more than the base model. I don't think I should upgrade the graphics card, and I don't know if I should upgrade to an 8-core i9 processor, or stick with the 6-core i7 and upgrade to 32GB of RAM. The i9 AND 32GB RAM would be a bit too expensive, and upgrading to the 5500M graphics card is one of the cheapest upgrades but I don't know if it is worth it..
    Maybe you would know what to do in my situation? My current laptop is giving me headaches with these slow choppy video playbacks inside Premiere. It's ruining my workflow.

    • @lukelarabee5296

      Hey! I would absolutely recommend upgrading the ram to 32 gb, as that’s gonna make the most noticeable difference in your workflow and editing. While the core i9 is slightly faster (about 8-9%), the ram upgrade is definitely a better upgrade for the MacBook, it’ll be incredibly noticeable vs 16

    • @PuurJarrett
      @PuurJarrett 4 роки тому

      Luke Larabee - Thank you for the tip! I think that I will go for the 32GB RAM then. I’d probably go for: i7, 32GB RAM, either 5300M or 5500M (not sure yet), and stick with 512GB storage and just buy an external hard drive! Been researching for 3 weeks or something so I hope it’s the right choice while not spending too much more than the base model
