It looks like Subterranean used to be a Subway. A network of hallways where large metallic trains running on void fluid were used for transportation of possibly, various fuel sources, food, etc. Also a way for the Ancients to get from one place to another quicker.
Now Downpour has been released and we got to know Outer Expanse, which made me understand this railroad on a new way. It seems to me that Pink Citadel inside Outer Expanse was a Ancients' city when iterators still didn't exist. Thus, when Looks do the Moon got built during the first era of iterators, they decided to move their population to the city built on top of LTTM because of the suply of void fluid resources. They used the hallways that start on the right side of the Citadel and that ended in Subterranean-Waterfront Facility gate to move the population on the ground. I think they decided to built the railway in the subterranean because the surface already had a lot of wild life, thus it wasn't a safe route. This is the same reason why much later they moved the city's population from LTTM to FP via a bridge built on top of Waterfront Facility, supported by the metal snakes we see emerging from the water at Shoreline. I just wonder how they moved the people from Waterfront Facility to the top of LTTM... I'm about to go crazy, but I think they might have used those colossal masts we can see between iterators when we are on the top of The Wall. Those masts could be some very useful elevators.
@@unaverdura1851it does? because for me, it played when I left the Shoreline gate and when I wandered to the miros bird part of Subterranean from Farm Arrays

Something runs through the subway tracks, something that was not intended to be there. The horribly torn appart and mutilated trains parts stick out of the ground like a ferrous forest and the tracks are the only path through it. It won't be long until you meet the one responsible for their current state.
A slugcat exploring a forest of metallic trees.

For a second I thought that said Americans instead of Ancients.

This one plays right before the Shoreline gate in Subterranean! Heard this one today after going left of the starting point as hunter for once.
For me it just played in that part of subterranean that has a lot of miros birds.
nah its random, it can play in any part of subterrenean
