Grandma's Recipe Curry Goat and Proper Jamaican BBQ Coming From a Nursery in Hulme | Hidden Gems

You know that Rakeem Knight’s Caribbean food is legit, because it was his grandad George who taught him to weld, so that he could make his own custom barbecue drum.
And then it was his grandma Yvette whose recipes for jerk chicken and curry goat sit on the menu of this oasis of Jamaican cuisine, just by Hulme Park - in, of all places, a children’s nursery.
Rakeem’s kitchen is also the nursery’s kitchen, so he even makes some slightly less spicy Caribbean classics for the kids next door too.
So it’s not necessarily somewhere you’d stumble across. If you know, you know, as they say.
But it’s also a place that we should be shouting about. “It’s been my dream since I left school to open my own place,” Rakeem says.
“Growing up, we were the house on the estate where you knew, even if you weren’t part of the household, you’d be getting a plate of food. You were guaranteed. No one got left out.”
The generosity prevails, and if you’re heading to Knights BBQ, you’re going to leave with your belly full.
