I would like to see more tutorials about nextcloud, like adding more disks and related toppics and maybe a short part about shares and their premissions
Great stuff Dmitry thank you for taking the time to spell out the steps. Even for someone familiar with Nextcloud, you helped clarify the new step requiring a specific dataset for the Nextcloud database.
Nice video, thanks for the work you put in. I've just outgrown my WD 2bay NAS and I'm looking at alternatives. I'm really impressed with TrueNAS scale as a NAS. I want to use nextcloud, I've been running nextcloudpi on a raspberry pi and it's surprisingly stable. I managed to go through several upgrade cycles with it, break it and fix it. I felt confident that I could self host nextcloud in a "production" capacity. The TrueNAS box seemed like the logical place to install the nextcloud (alongside SMB and NFS) so I have been testing the container install. Yikes, what a mess. It doesn't idle properly increasing my idle power consumption by about 50%. I've had it fail to restart after a reboot, reinstall fixed it. I had a power outage and it wouldn't restart even after a reinstall, I had to clear the datasets and reinstall to get it back. I don't think it's ready for prime time on cobia. The ease of installation almost feels like a trap 😆 How are you coping with it in the longer term? Do you use the TrueNAS app in production? Perhaps you could share some insights into common problems/resolutions in a future video. Cheers 👍
Thank you for your feedback and subscribe :) My initial plan was to replace iCloud on my iPhone with nextcloud, just because I have tons of pictures and videos and thought that I could stop paying for iCloud storage. What I did not think is that with nextcloud I won't have a feature of "preview" in the gallery which I am not ready to give up at the moment.
Easy to follow, step by step guide for initial set up. Thank you. I'm currently using Nextcloud on Core with the android app to backup pics and vids and now I've moved over to Scale and your vid has made this transition an easier move. I'm trying to get Immich setup on Scale as well, but just not getting my Data on Scale. I don't suppose you are looking at doing a tutorial about an Immich install on Scale?
Thanks for the tutorial. Could you make another tutorial about how to get external access to Nextcloud? Right now can I only access Nextcloud on my private network.
Nice tutorial . worked after following your process. However, I updated my app after the initial setup after few days and now the app doesn't start - work anymore. Scale snapshot roll back did not work either as I see 5-6 nextcloud snapshots listed for the same time.
Nice instruction, I'm just doing my first home lab server based on True Nas and Nextcloud so I'm study and checking things out. I will have proxmox and then few VM and one True Nas with one ZFS pool RAID10 (4x500GB). I just wonder what will be the best way to install few Nextcloud instances with different data sets of coure and different users, admins etc.., one will be for lab mess, one for friends with public access and one for my family cloud more private access. It will be cool to make this kind of tutorial, how to deal with security restrictions this way etc.. thanks!
Thank you very much for feedback. I’m also not a very big pro here :) trying things out and want to share my findings and experience. I don’t think that having two nextcloud installations is a good idea or even a possible things to do. Rather separate your friends from other with permissions and delegated space
yeah, the best and the fastest way to learn is to get knowledge from the more experienced users. I'm really beginner right now in my 50's and don't have that much time to search around, read, study and learn, so I'm looking for geek advices or more experienced users to eventualy discuss my project. Even having linux experience from m young age and University today I must acquire all knowledge from the scratch to refresh knowled in most dirrect way possible. My project include few important points. 1st home messy lab for testing new ver 2nd family home (private) 3th friendly Communities. I plan to do it on T620 2x180GB RAID1 for proxmox and apps, 4x500GB SSD for NAS Pool storage and 192GB of RAMwhich are pretty powerfull for my needs due to not to many users using at the start so I think that my 200Mb/s will handle first server easy (I count 10 users working at the same time/100 registered users) and later grow with next T620 32xsff and higher speeds if there will be a need for that. To do this I need to give each community domain and their ow administration. First I was thinking to do it on VM but I'm limited to the one pool right now. So I was thinking to go with containers on True NAS and set different data sets. Unfortunately I don't have yet experience and can not see clearly how to do it well. The same my private nextcloud will go through VPN. Just to show you my project, maybe you can give me an hint sometimes, at least it will stay open discussion that can help you and me. Regards from Poland, If I found you that means your video is not bad, lets figure this out what will be the best way to do it? BR
Same issue here ! I achieve to install and run nextcloud but I can't link it to my domain name. As I read elsewhere, I have to change the config.php but since it's not docker anymore on TrueNas Scale, I don't know how. @techhub-tv do you have any informations about this ?
can you do how to setup a Arr Stack next on truenas scale also on how to setup glueton with nordvpn or wireguard i cant find anything on this its making me want to run into the wall
@@techhub-tv to answer the question I’m Just trying to get the arr stack up I don’t have enough hardware atm for a proxmox machine so ima just trying to get it on my truenas for now and then later down the line just set it up on a proxmox machine

ffmpeg and smbclient settings are missing from my setup using version 2.0.5.

Do you have any videos or links how to access the Nextcloud via SMB and how to get access to it out of the network maybe also behind a VPN
Great video, however Nextcloud won’t start, stuck on Deploying. Any ideas?

Well, you just need to have static IP and expose it to the internet
