- I had the opportunity to ride the brand-new Specialized Epic World cup on my local trails. I am stoked about this bike and share my initial impressions during and after the first ride.

Thanks for posting this video. I love the idea of the wc. Curious - on really long rides (4-8 hrs), how much more does the wc beat you up compared to the evo? I just love the hard tail feel, but hard tails destroy you when going that long. The evo on the other hand is great for that, but not as ideal pedaling.
I think it depends on which setting you ride the rear. Even at full ‘open’ it’s still more efficient than the evo for pedaling. I favor the geo of the WC for long rides above the evo.

Regarding a dropper post - would you consider it on this bike?
Previous gen Epic felt 100% fine without dropper, my new Epic Evo I can’t ride without using the dropper post.
What is your opinion re above with the new Epic WC?
I would like to test it with a dropper. I adopted the dropper post very late and only on my Evo. I think riding style plays a factor and the trails you ride. I feel very comfortable on this platform without the dropper, but have seen advantages of using it on the EVO.
I’ll do a more in depth review once I have had the opportunity to test it 👊🏻
Great video JB! I think it's very important "normal people" giving feedbacks about this bike. My advice to everyone who is considering go to this bike is: Ride it! I agree with you. that's my new favorite XC bike, it gives me such a great advantage for the climbs and retaking acceleration, that I can notice clearly each watts that I'm saving. Just I point of attention, this bike on my opinion, goes pretty well on technical steep parts because of his 66,5 head tube angle and 110mm fork, I just felt a bit less stable in high speed descent comparing with Epic Brain. How do you feel it? I've raced a famous Stage Race here in Brazil one month ago, and just to confirm for the guy who asked about marathon and Stage Races, it ran flawlessly!
Hi - looked like you were having lots of fun on the WC epic. About to buy the WC epic or Epic EVO for the Cape Epic next year. What would you recommend ?
Hi Grant, I would choose the Epic WC personally. I feel very comfortable on the bike and would choose it in any race environment. I have been riding the Epic WC 98% of the time since I got it and I am in love with the bike.

Yes, I ride the same size as my Evo.

I think it comes down to personal preference. If you like the brain platform, then this bike will be great for you. I feel comfortable on the bike across different terrain and have chosen this bike above my Epic Evo :)
@@KapteinKof I pretty like brain (when It works like It should) very important tò me Is that the new One pretty good in the descent too Is gonna be cause the trails in my regio are pretty wild anyway I m gonna use It the most for long distance race so i m pretty confidente thanks again for sharing your opinion 💪
I would have loved to see what you thought if It was on proper single track. The bottom bracket is super low on that bike. I bet you would hit your pedals all the time. That's a deal breaker for me and that thing has to be slow in the tight woods with that 66.5 HT angle? I want to ride 1 for sure to test it out.
You point out some valid observations. I have ridden this bike on all the trails I used to ride my Epic Evo on and have been able to better my strava times or go faster. I have not yet done a video about it on rougher trails, so I will take the GoPro with me tomorrow morning and do an updated video with thoughts.
@@KapteinKof Nice can't wait for a real person review. Seen too many of the magazine reviews. I know there has to be something lol. Always trade offs in life, no exceptions with bikes.
Have they fixed the Front Fork problems with damper breaking? Also is there a new damper in the bike?
Yes I believe so and there is a new damper since it is a new fork.
Any long term updates you can share???
Great video and thanks for the review. That trail looks pretty groomed and smooth though, any chance you've riden it on anything a bit more technical? How do you like the new? SRAM transmission shifting?
Yes, the one in the video was pretty smooth and groomed. I did ride it over more technical terrain too and it really came alive over the roots and rocks for me. I have always ridden SRAM and the progression to the new transmission has been excellent. It’s something to get used to with a new shifter, but overall, I am very happy with the package.
What Garmin mount are you using? I am interested in buying now when my would cup comes in.
I have one that comes off my Tarmac. It works the same. The K-edge top cap one is a great alternative.
Hallo Johan , just a question do you think a person can do Marathon and Stage races with this new Specialized
Hi Nico. I will definitely ride this bike on stage races. It’s so efficient and carries the same tools as my Epic Evo. It is my go to bike Nd I can see myself only riding the Evo in Europe or Santa Cruz where it is very steep.
@@KapteinKof Thanks for the feedback , I am in the proses of buying a new bike and don't want to make a mistake .I done 4 Cape Epics and One Swiss Epic and the plan is Andora and 4 Islands next year and I want to buy the right bike . Average rider so I believe the Pro will do it if I want to add the AXS dropper .
@@NicoGroenewald-j7j I think the pro is an outstanding choice. The new AXS group with power meter is great value. I will test the bike with a dropper this weekend and I have a feeling that configuration will be where I land on it. Keep me updated with how you get on.

Nice review, but the music is awful. It gets difficult to hear you sometimes.
It's a hidious Trek ripoff. Please no more words on this bike...
