It has to be said that villa can’t ever do a Leicester, the amount of money they’ve spent is still very huge. No one can ever come close to Leicesters achievements.
Edit: just to be clear, if Aston Villa wins the league it would definitely be an achievement and a huge win for English football. However Villa has still spent so many millions which is insane for a team who usually ends up in the lower end of top 10 or lower. obviously nothing compared to the big 6, but Kids these days may not realise how Insane Leicesters achievements were. Leicesters squad value were £28m, while Villa’s £600m. And yes many top teams were unstable but Leicester were a relegation team not even midttable.
It will never be a Leicester as they are a tiny club and no one ever expected them to finish 15th never mind 1st
Yeah Leicester had it in a much less competitive season so Villa's would be more of an achievement
I know right Leicester won it due to luck were as if villa win it it will be down to just being a really good squad
Don’t diminish Villa’s possible achievement yes Leicester was amazing but this is a more competitive league Leicester’s main competition was Spurs this season Villa have City, Arsenal, Liverpool and other more competitive teams like Spurs and Newcastle breathing behind their necks. If Villa actually win this season it would be incredible given the competition.
@@BG_MKYahahah are you smiling crack you weapon
Thank you to the whole team for being honest in giving credit to Bournemouth. Great analysis.
Fair play lads the best trio
“I don’t feel like Aston Villa can blow teams away at home”
4-0 Everton
6-1 Brighton
4-1 West Ham
Pretty sure on this run aswell they haven’t conceded more than 1 in any one game at villa Park.
If you’re gonna quote someone, get it right. ”You don’t always feel they’re gonna blow teams away”. They literally praised their home form so what are you proving here😅
@@rubericks”blow teams away 3/4/5” I just listed to teams we “blew away” I could of actually listed more. Nice of to join in though 👍🏻
@@rubericks 3-0 Newcastle in that run.
0-3 Liverpool. lol
I love how attentive Mark is when Watto talks. You can see him taking everything in. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
huh
Favorite show on youtube , good lads.
Well done Watto! Great show lads!
Thankyou Ben, for listening to us, talking about another match even just a little is bring so much nuance to TFFI. Thank you.
"And look what Almiron did"
Almiron trophies:
Grealish trophies 🏆🏆🏆🏆
When Jota got a 2nd yellow in the spurs game, everyone said it was a second yellow even though it was soft and it was his responsibility to be smarter when on a yellow.
Ayew had been tactically fouling all game and chose to take the risk of stopping a counter when he was already on a yellow. That’s his choice and his fault.
And re: the first yellow. He had done it before and VVD took advantage of that. players buy fouls all the time and because he had already tried to stop a quick free kick before hand and got a warning for it, he should know better to not keep doing. He’s in his late 20s, he’s an experienced player.
The tactical fouling all game was clearly a tactic from Hodgens but he needs to coach his players to be smarter about it if they’re going to be doing when to do it all game.
They were lucky Salah scored because the ref had his whistle up to blow for a pen on the foul on Jones and Ward would have been off for a second yellow.
That tackle on Endo happened just before the pass through to goal
What is Mark talking about? The foul on Endo that over turned Palace's penalty.... "How far are we going back?"
It was that foul on Endo that gave Palace the chance for a penalty, and it all happened in less than 10 seconds.
Dan Burn deserves a England shout !!!
congratulations Watto..... love the summarization of the goalkeeper performances...👍
Yes! Love my weekly fix of The Football Fill-In. I much prefer this to Match of the Day and the like- there's more/better analysis on all games, especially when it comes to the keepers (obviously!). Much more impartial than mainstream TV.
Keep it up, lads!
The stop start nature of VAR is, in my opinion, leading to so many player injuries.
Players cool down and that isn't a good thing.
That’s super interesting, and would help to explain why there’s been so many this season particularly.
I've got to say boys, the quiz was absolutely shocking, the questions were so easy this time around. Still great to see Watto win again, keep up the great work boys!
This has become a really comfortable weekly watch for me. Great stuff.
The REF gave the handball (correctly by the book), not VAR. Why is everyone blaming VAR for a correct decision given by the ref?
Can’t believe the carry on over the Ayew yellow cards. Two of the most blatant yellows you’ll ever see. And he had already blocked a quick free kick before he got booked for one.
thank you!
He tried to get away from the free kick your allowed to stand in front of it
@@sanadalaghbar8043 no your not hahahahaha
Van Dijk just booted the ball at him, he tried moving at the way but it was a quick free kick so he obviously doesn’t have time to move out the way
Players got two yellows for lot less
I still var could work if they took the rugby approach and had all the refs mic'd up so everyone is in on the conversation, crazy how it hasn't been even considered
why people forgetting that ayew was breaking a counter attack for the second yellow. people are saying that it's not a yellow card challenge.
The thing about VAR is they are blaming it for things it hasn't actually done. Havertz handball is not VAR's fault but the rule itself. VAR goes and it is still a no goal based on the on-field decision. If VAR goes people will moan about decisions the ref has made. Foster knows this is true as him and his Wrexham teammates were going nuts at the officials for decision against Notts County.
VAR has helped many a team including Man utd. Take when Man Utd played Arsenal and Havertz dived. On field decision was penalty but VAR correctly overturned it.
And what about the foul on Jesus? Same foul was a penalty 2 hours before in a different game.
Whose fault is that?
Wasn't a foul on Jesus. What happened 2 hours earlier? the one for Palace was a pen.@@Qlicky
@@Qlickytwo different challenges that ended with rightly two different outcomes.
@@Deomnibusdubitandum274Yep. It was a penalty because one referee thought it was, but another one wasn't because another referee thought it wasn't a pen.
So much about clear and obvious, eh?
@@Qlicky no, it was because one was a pen and the other wasn’t. The palace player was tripped. Jesus was not tripped .
I dont think Liverpool are "dark horses" lol. They were literally competing with city a couple seasons ago
That's the best football shirt you've worn on this show so far Ben! 🔥
As always great content guys❤
Golbridge with a decent dyche impression
How is Mark the most pro-Liverpool person in this show. The anti-Liverpool takes are getting crazy here
Isn't it funny how for the diaz goal they supposedly couldn't stop the game but after 1 minute 45 they can for a palace penalty.
Yeah they just impose restrictions on themselves for no reason if they let it continue and let the game flow rather than if the ball goes out they’d be waiting for minutes
It's because the ball hadn't become dead at any point in this Palace game before then. I'm not saying the Diaz situation was right, but you're not comparing like for like.
The first season of football I followed was 98/99. Aston Villa were beasts for two-thirds of the season. They were top for about 16 if game weeks. They finished 7th. I'm not a fan but I want as many different teams in the mix as possible winning titles and trophies. Hopefully they do better this time around.
I remember this period. It was under John Gregory. I can assure you that Villa has now it's best squad ever, with one if the most tactically intelligent managers in the world. I am sure that Villa will get Champions League this season, and once they are in the Champions League, they will have one of the best managers for them to complete and perhaps win it.
@@catkatzi3320 I hope so buddy. And hell, if you get knocked into the Europa league you've got an absolute specialist at the wheel!
This show is so much better than any footy content on the tele, keep it up you lot
This is what we are all waiting for. Spot on analysis and good atmosphere
It's not about blowing teams away at home
It's about finding away of winning at home
Sometimes your the underdog and you just have to find away and Emery is the master
Not knowing the Ronaldo question is criminal
That Dan Burn shirt would make a nice Xmas present for my bro!
Yes love it Foz
Come on Watto! What a win! Don't mock the afflicted! Lol.
When’s the merch coming boys! Love the show would love to support
Great show as always guys! Sad to witness another Chelsea loss! But hopefully we beat Sheffield Utd at home to get back to winning ways!
Ayew’s red card is absolutely a red card given the two yellow cards he got 😂
Can't believe you didn't say anything about Mark dropping his carrot cake during his stream.... worse hands than Onanna and that's saying something!!! 😂
Ben, at the end of your intro, you always say come on boys... you have girls watching too!!! ❤
VAR is not blame for correctly enforcing the rules. When will the Premier league say enough is enough and take control of the rule making process. These seemingly adhoc guidelines that nobody knows about except the referees are a joke. Referees should be referees, not lawmakers.
Emery & Pochetino, if you ever needed an example of the media bias. Emery took over a team that was fighting relegation, ended that season in European places, and the following season he qualified from his group and is up there fighting at the top of the league. Pochetino, has no excuses for failure, yet he continues to fail and there is hardly any talk about pressure or sacking him (I'm sure if Jose was doing what Poch is, the media will show him the same level of patience).
Why do you want there to be talk about a manager being sacked so much? Why does that even bother you? Honestly these types of comments are just weird and pointless. I don’t get it. If you’re going to comment make it worth peoples seconds reading it pal.
If you think Poch deserves to be sacked, you need to think a lot harder mate.
@@archiewall124 I believe you missed the point of my comment. I was highlighting the media bias/hypocrisy. Why is Emery not getting the praise he deserve with how he changed Villa from Gerrard days? Why is the media not talking about pressure on Poch, eventhough they keep talking about ETH nearing the sack despite MU being ahead of CHE? Whether it's ignorance or favoritism, the media always have agenda on which players/managers to attack and which ones to defend.
@@elleonken7599 first of all, what do you even mean by media? People always use this term and they’re never specific, I honestly think you’re just rambling because I see articles about Emery and Villa everywhere and he’s getting huge praise on TV and social media. So again, maybe just look around you before getting angry about something that isn’t even true!
@@archiewall124 The only one who sounds angry here (for some reason) is you. Also, for your future references, when people say 'media' they're referring to MSM, not fan channels or word on the streets. First, you missed the point of my original comment, then not understand my second comment, and you're just throwing accusations around. People have different opinions when it comes to sports, so don't feel pressured to try to prove yourself right all the time.
Get Wato on the pitch showing golbridge how to be a keeper 😂
i love this trio!
Nice one fozzy
Keep up the good content guys
Chris Sutton’s son is a GK at Wroxham I believe.
My fav trio and shoutout to the docile ginger as well top lad
Damn you, fellas! I was just about to go and do some outstanding chores and now I clearly need to watch this all the way through. Merry Christmas chaps!
Bit more talk on Fulham would have been nice chaps
GREAT VID 😂. Ben a question for u. Do u remember Haris Vuckic? He would be a good guest
A forgotten footballer
The villa boys from Aston !!!! 🎉utv
Watto nails it about arsenal being wasteful in the villa game. But unsure why Foster had then said he agrees but wasn't worried because he didn't think arsenal looked like scoring? Huge credit to villa, especially the city result, but arsenal were all over them (appreciate the long week they had) and should really have had 3, with two debatable decisions that go against them to. Feels more like arsenal lost the game than anything. But it's an easy quick dig at arsenal and suits the narrative for villa. However they deserve it and I hope they enjoy it, regardless of my opinion on the game and general commentary around it to.
So Man Utd fans wait until the team starts playing well before they make the stadium in to a cauldron? That tells me the United fans DO have a part to play. You scream and you shout and you sing from minute 1, no matter what.
Damn
Villa will be top 4 easy and a good chance of the title. 2 or 3 players in January and we will win europa too. Unai is the man
Great content. Sin Bins are a cop out for Refs, and if we have VAR to review, why do we need Sin Bins. Let the managers handle their players and sub if they feel they are close to boiling point or pull them aside. Will a short break really help?
Jordan Ayew knew he was putting himself in danger by stupidly blocking a free-kick in Liverpool's own half and his second yellow is a clear one that stops an attack so the red is perfectly reasonable.
Don't say every refs would have given it but especially if you take in consideration that he had already commited one or two small fouls earlier, ther's really nothing shocking at all.
Crazy to say Liverpool haven’t stolen any headlines. Are you even paying attention to the season Ben?
Yes! Foster going old school with the Juve kit.
Never expected Arsenal to score? They dominated Villa for 85 minutes, even Emi Martinez said it lol
First of all, UTV!
Spoiler:
Best thing about this show is watching Watto win the quiz, such underdog excitement :D
Go on the Watto lad
No point asking two goalkeepers, one played for Birmingham the other played for West Brom if Villa will reach the top 4. They acknowledge that Villa has that 15 winning streak but Watto (David Watson) suggested that 'Villa don't blow teams away' - really!?? Villa has a 35-7 goal difference in those last 15 home games. Both these goalkeepers must have heard of Martinez ( i know Ben has interviewed Martinez at his house). Ben quoted Gary Linker MOTD comnent about VAR, but didnt reference World Cup winning goalkeeper Emi Martinez's MOTD comment saying that 'He is a believer' on the question whether Villa are title contenders. Do these guys have something against Emi Martinez - The worlds number 1???
Did I really hear correctly?? Villa haven’t blown teams away .. wtf
4:50 tbf the ref on pitch caller handball so even without VAR the goal doesnt count
The big clubs don’t really sign players in January. Why don’t people realise this. It’s a terrible market
Mo Salah is the only playing player with 200 goals in EPL.
De Gea would walk into any PL team, obviously would need to do extra training for the time he lost. He is elite, and still has 5 more years in him considering his excellent fitness.
He would not walk into City's or Liverpool's team. He might not even be their second keeper. He is mid-table even on his best day.
Off side should always favour the striker. It should go back to fresh beween the two. VAR shouldnt be able to get that wrong, they should then be able to take it down to the pixel, and it shoudl be automated. They coudl easilly have dolly camera (like horseracing style) floowing the rear most player in each side, so tjere is always a camera in line.
Or scrap the lot and go old school. Id rather argue over a man on thr field getting it wrong rather than a man off site getting it wrong.
that was one of the most embarrassing quiz performances I've ever had the pleasure of watching
I think onana was ten hags biggest mistake, not only doing de hea a disservice he ripped that defence apart at the heart
Just gotta say... Ben, that shirt is fucking brilliant!
No one touched upon the ball hitting cash before havertz or how douglas luiz kicked jesus in the box. We didn't take our chances but Ben talking about how he never thought arsenal would score or this narrative that we were blown away is false
Tuesday fun day
Correct, it isn't a red. It's a second yellow. You can't stop a counter-attack and not get booked.
Yes you can but only if it's your first foul, or in a very fair-play game or if the foul is really "minimal" ( not pulling the shirt for 3 seconds straight ).
Don't say the ref cannot give a yellow even with these circumstances but at least he can choose.
“The City’s, the Liverpool’s, Your Arsenal’s, Your West Ham’s, A mourinho, A ten harg,” guys! These are all single things 😂
I wonder if Fozzy gets his shirts off of DH Gate!?! 😂
Up the watto 🍾🍾🍾
What are we saying then, are Villa title contenders?! 🤔
As a villa fan, I don’t believe we are title contenders, too much of the season left and away form is an issue. Champions league qualification is realistic utv
it's a dice throw who end up 4th, but title contenders? naaah, Arsenal, City and Liverpool will probably keep chugging along, i dont really see anyone keeping up with them over a full season.
I’d certainly like to see them win the title, but personally I don’t really think it’s going to happen.
Us at the villa mostly dont believe we got the depth or away form to contend the title but a 4th place and a good run in europe would be a great season and in 1 or 2 more seasons we talk about titles
No
People seem to forget villa beat city and arsenal qith there 3rd and 4th choice centerback in the starting 11 . The depth of the squad is actual really good
Some shirt that 🔥🔥
i think villa need to start trying to find a striker with the hope of replacing watkins which is difficult and i'm not saying he needs to be replaced but we need depth there anyway and i do still think he's a level below top 4 quality, if he doesn't score he offers very little most games, luckily he is scoring a lot but i'm convinced that has more to do with the system and emery than him having champions league level ability
So biased against Liverpool in the Liverpool section, never a second yellow? You were all screaming for konate to get a yellow against Everton for the same thing, true these refs arnt good enough but they can’t win
Fergie lost an average of 1.6 Premier League home games per season. Quite startling how the mighty has fallen...
I don't understand how you can listen to a game of football on the radio 😂 great show as always
Some of us grew up doing that, because there was no TV. Commentators were so much better on the radio.
GO WATTO!!!!
Hopefully we will finish in the Top 6. Top 4- Fantastic and anything more would be sensational...
VAR is fine- It's the officials who are very poor at their jobs. If you look back at games in the past...so many goals would have been ruled out
No they cant
Dyche isnt signing players, we have director of football who does it Kevin Thelwell.
4:12 people keep talking about VAR is this villa arsenal game but everyone is clearly forgetting the ref
Called handball and VAR wanted to overturn it, VAR changed nothing in that game
VAR would never overturn a handball that was a handball. The rule is clear, if it touches a player’s hand who scores, it’s not a good. So why would VAR overturn that?
Bonus question 12. Which team and who scored the winner that ended Chelsea unbeaten home record?
Fletcher from United
how in the world did everyone miss the cristiano ronaldo question? that mightve been the easiest question in the history of the show
Juve's 70s kits are way much better than 90s
Ange postecoglou 👀
Ben Foster saying he never expected Arsenal to score is hilarious. We were dominant and absolutely should have won this game. Terrible analysis.
What a shirt!
I really like the idea of VAR and their is nothing wrong with VAR but the people behind the screens I think the only solution to this problem other than getting rid of it is bringing ex pros to ref
