I so respect both actors for their work in this film. My one problem -----the one that really bothered me-----is that it's just too short. Had the studio allowed just 40 more minutes, then perhaps the real story of just who Eugene Landy was, & how he came to enter BW's life, could have been fully explored. ---Because Landy didn't begin his work with BW, thinking he would become a " manager, business partner, & guardian" ; sadly, what did happen, was that he became seduced by the lifestyle, fame, money, & women, that were all parts of what being rock stars was in the 60's, 70's, & 80's. ------Once he tasted " the life", he couldn't get enough , & THAT led to his downfall, & twisted, sick relationship at the end, with BW. ---------The film , to be fair, needed to explore this part of the story; sadly, with time limits, it did not. -------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
I concur. But I could watch a whole Netflix or HBO series on Brian Wilson from his youth, all the way through to his getting independent from Landy & finding Melinda, & culminating in his completion of 'SMiLE!' (albeit w/out the voices of the original Beach Boys, & thus titled 'Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE!') by himself & Van Dyke Parks. Brian Wilson is a true giant of music. Period.
no it wasn't,it was about i think tony ashers girl that he got dumped a while ago cuz she was going to new york, and when tony met her a while later she was really different and had a new boyfriend and stuff
Im sure i heard it was when Marilyn got her hair cut shorter and it got him thinking, he uses the words " where did your long hair go" I could be wrong though
Dano did an incredible job singing in this film! Even Surf's Up.
Dang he really sounds like Brian!
I think they rerecorded Brian singing and mixed his voice and Pauls voice together for these scenes
@@Zezezeze69 Yeah they did, but he still does a great job
Paul Dano really nailed this.-----------did he know he could do it this well ???--------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
Its mixed with real brian
@@GibsonG1011 a little bit , but also paul dano is a singer so
They even used the correct speed of the song for the movie, I'm impressed.
that dialogue before, OUCH! Dang that hurt!

@@matthewrider5906 A series on HBO would be incredible
@@milwaukeeskosher Ty. I appreciate it.👍
He really nailed it.
can you post the audio of 'still believe in me' by Paul Dano, from the MOVIE of course
The title comes from a misread lyric from Tony Asher. The line was 'Carol, I know...'
This masterpiece was written to / about, BW's very 1st real crush, a girl named Carol Mountain. -----------WolfSky9
Wolfsky9 awwwww
no it wasn't,it was about i think tony ashers girl that he got dumped a while ago cuz she was going to new york, and when tony met her a while later she was really different and had a new boyfriend and stuff
If I remember correctly, it was supposed to be "Carol I know".
@@dante_7143 Brian said it was about a girl named named carol who he couldn’t have

Paul Dano's voice sounds a bit like Michael Nesmith's voice on the Monkees albums.
