For people, you wouldn't EAT it, but brew it in a TEA! Use the leaves like you would mint leaves (same family), which is a great refreshing after dinner tea. Additionally, MOSQUITO REPELLENT! Mossies HATE catnip, so pick a handful for your pockets as you venture outdoors! Great video!

My catnip plant survived the Canadian winter on my balcony! I was so surprised this spring when it started growing again! It's now at the first flowering stage. Very cool! I have cats and adhd too!

I have tried growing catnip several times. Because there are feral cats that wander through our property it never works. The cats end up not only eating it but also rolling on it. They destroy most newly planted catnip.
When I try to grow it inside it gets devoured! My cat loves cat nip. I once brought home some freshly cut catnip that I had bought at a local flea market along with some groceries. I had put the catnip in one of the grocery bags. I brought the bags in and I realized that I was almost late to pick up one of the kids so I left the bags on the kitchen table and went to go get the kid. When I came back groceries were everywhere as was a bag of fresh chopped catnip!
Last year someone gave me a large rooted catnip plant which did get to grow but then some kind of a bug ate it. I never could find the bug but the plant had holes throughout all of the leaves. We live in a forest so there are an abundance of bugs around. I can’t spray something that is to be eaten so that was the end of that.

Indoors perhaps you could grow it in a hanging basket or maybe in a room where you can keep the door closed so the cats can't get to it. Outdoors, could try spraying the bugs on the plant with a dilute soapy water. Leave it on for just 5 minutes then hose it off. Outside, cage the plant with chicken wire to keep stray cats off then cover the caging with fine netting to keep bugs off.

It is perrenial for me in CT. We get temps as low as -10F some years. You can't kill it. Would be a perfect aphid decoy plant. My cat never used even half of what I grow.

Yes, neem oil is organic. However, it is banned in some European countries because it kills bees and other beneficial insects.

Thank you so much for the information! Do you know if you can you grow this indoors, on a windowsill box? You also brought up the term 'stratification.' Sounds like a stalagmite. Does that mean that a perenial plant would benefit from the period of dormancy during winter months by putting it in the fridge?

I'm sure u can u just need bright light so pick the brightest window n try it out. If it gets leggy or stringy it's cuz it needs more light

Control yhose black ants and you'll eliminate the aphid problem too. Black ants are aphid herders.
