Great video to clear all of my confusion
@hongvietle3875 that's the idea 💡
Perfect topic. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the content and explaining it so simply. Much appreciated.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the tutorial. As a newbie I was not even aware of the different connections. Helps a lot.
I'm glad it helped. That's why I do the video. Thanks for the feedback.
Thank you...very helpful! Thought the pin broke inside my quads connector. But after watching your video I realize my quad is using an 'RP SMA' and not a 'SMA'. Really saved me some headache so thank you! Keep up the great work...know this is an older video but still very relevant!
Yep it's always relevant. Glad it helped.
Just what i needed to find out the name of the tiny pop connector on the pcb. I feel much more confident buying an adapter now. Thank you for a very clear presentation with no waffle or loud music.
Thanks for watching and the feedback.
Watched this video.....to figure out what was wrong with my new antennas. Thank you . I bought rp-sma antennas for my fatshark
Sooo after nearly a year of flying and breaking various things I’m now hear for obvious reasons! 😆😅
I want to thank you for such a constant high end content 🤝
Broke chimera 5lr Ant - it’s a right angle mmcx, I’ve got a chimera 4lr with the same Ant but the mmcx is straight with a knurled bit in it, I knew ( was 80 % sure tbh 😅 ) they were both mmcx but 1: didn’t know if they were swappable & 2 didn’t have an effin clue how to detach them so was obviously concerned about just pulling on em!
You saved me mate 😃 absolutely bloody brilliant 👍 the fact you had BOTH connectors to show was perfect 👌
🤜🏻🤛🙏
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad the video helped.
@@WhirlyBloke 🤜🏻🤛
Thanks! This video helped me replacing a UFL connected antenna. The replacement had an extra locking device that looked weird, but it seems to work fine!
It was a great learning experience as I am just venturing into Smart audio ,Vtx and Camera installation on my new build.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
This helped me decide what to get. Thank you so much. I also learned something new today :)
Thanks for watching and the feedback.
Thank you for the informative video.
Greetings from the subscriber from Poland.
Some nice effects in this video
Very informative for a beginner like me. Thanks!
Connector confusion. It's a big subject. Glad it helped.
Nice video, very useful, thank you very much!
Brilliant video! great comparison
Thanks for watching.
You earned a subscription! Thank you for sharing this good info!!!!
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
thanks X) hope i got the right one!
This is great thx a lot!
Thank you for this video!
You are so welcome!
thank you i found the true connector for my drone helpful video :)
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
VERY helpful. Thumbs up given. Cheers Whirly Bloke.
Thanks.
vary helpful thank you!
No problem.
Excellent!
Glad you liked it!
thanks man
Really useful 👍🏻 I forgot how my mmcx pigtail connected to the vtx
Thanks for watching.
Nice video 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching and the feedback.
Thanks mate.
NP
Thank you. I mean it.
No problem. If anyone say they haven't been confused by VTX connectors at some point, they're deluded 😀
thanks
Thanks for watching.
Nice informative video on the connectors, could you give us some info about the coax cables used in each antena. They all seem to be quite different in size, diameter, etc... Can you match any of those connectors to any size cable, or do the connectors come in different specific sizes on the side where they connect to the cable, so that they must be paired with the right size coax cable ? The not so obvious example taken from your antennas in your video are the two straight sma connectors : one connects to the large diameter blue coax cable and seems quite beefy at the area where the heatshrink is, while the other sma connector, which connects to the slightly slimmer gray coax cable, also seems to be much slimmer at its heatshrink area. Does this mean these two sma connectors have different sized cable ends? Ty
I'll put it on the list. Thanks for watching.
so the UFL is the same connector that the dji mavic air used for the motors??
Hi, can the vtx touch the carbon frame its a 1s walksnail and I'm pretty sure that ,could be heat sink largest silver square on the vtx is hitting the frame. ATM just a mock up ..thank you for your time and videos.
Thanks for watching and reaching out with your question. It's generally not recommended to have the VTX touch the carbon frame directly, as it could potentially cause interference or affect performance. Ideally, you want to ensure some insulation between the VTX and the frame. If you see the VTX is hitting the frame, it's a good idea to make some adjustments to prevent any unwanted contact. Happy flying!
which one have long distance?
How do you get a bloody broken tip of an MMCX connector out of the socket on your VTX?
Waiting for a small mmcx/sma adaptor
Hi, I recently got gifted the emax ez pilot drone kit. The kit includes a drone, a transmitter, and fpv goggles. The drone has a dipole antenna. The fpv goggles have two female sma connectors and included with the kit there is only one dipole antenna, so i was wondering if it was cool if I got another antenna for the goggles, and if it would matter if the antenna would be dipole, lolipop , or cloverleaf.
If you can, try to put matching antennas on the drone and goggles, but if you can't change the one on the drone, you can use a lollipop or similar on the goggles. Always try a range test in a known area first.
What is the difference between IPEX/IPX (brass/white) IPX4/IPEX4 (brass/black)? Are they compatible?
Ever done a UFL to PCB as in xbox series XS wifi/BT antenna or similar setting?
'Fraid not.
What do you do when the original antenna on the VTX is soldered directly? Mainly how do i cut the antenna and then solder to what pads?
Carefully desolder the old one, clean it up with solder wick and flux. Then solder in a replacement. Take it slow and no shaky hands 😀
I think I broke the vtx antenna on my quad, Im brand new to fpv so im not sure what every wire is yet. This wire wasnt in a connector like these but instead was placed directly on the board. It was the wire that gave signal from the camera to my googles. I bought the eachine novice 2, and just need a little help trying to fix it
Try re soldering the connections first. Be careful not to bridge wires.
Do you use any single power when using a UFL to SMA adaptor ?
Yes, when using a UFL to SMA adapter, you would typically use a single power source for your FPV drone or quad. The UFL (also known as IPX) connector is commonly used for connecting the antenna to the video transmitter (VTX) on FPV drones. The UFL connector is typically found on the VTX side, and it is designed for low-power connections.
To connect the UFL connector to an SMA connector, which is the standard connector used on most FPV antennas, you would need to use a UFL to SMA adapter. This adapter allows you to convert the UFL connection on the VTX to an SMA connection, which is compatible with most antennas.
The power for the VTX and the antenna is typically provided by a single power source, such as a battery or power distribution board on the drone. So, when using a UFL to SMA adapter, you would not need to use a separate power source for the adapter itself. The power for the VTX and the antenna will flow through the adapter to ensure proper signal transmission and reception.
I got the blau one but 1 off the end pins is broken is this a problem ? So instead of 4 i got 3 now
That won't work reliably. Bin it and get another one.
@@WhirlyBloke i still get footage of goggle
1 more question i got the eachine 800d goggles with a 5.8g 5dbi ,is the aomway antenne with 3dbi oke ? Or do i need to match the dbi on the drone and goggles ?
Its about the k- loverleaves 5.8g 5dbi
can you remove the UFL connector from the board and solder the antenna on? you can right? just need a damn microscope probablty?
Yes you can solder directly but you really need a good magnifier or digital microscope.
@@WhirlyBloke Thanks, I appreciate it.
I broken 1 antenna is possible open goggles for change male piece
Yes, but it's a fiddly job. Just take it slowly.
I think you gave some misinformation about sma connectors. Male or female isnt determined by the pin but by the threads. If the connector has the thing you can turn then it is a male.
