As an alto saxophone player, this track is awesome. I love improvising to it.
Brandon Cox just curious have you tried G blues over it. Also not a horn player..is G blues hard to play on a trumpet?
@@PIANOSTYLE100 it can be challenging but no it's not super hard
@@Lor40 I tried playing sax and other wind instruments.. Not my forte.
same!
hi i'm not used to playing along but want to start trying to see how it goes . Are those the right chords to use for an alto sax or do i need to transpose them intto another key or something ? Really appreciate any replies . Just a novice trying to get along .
tenor here!!! love improvising over this, much more pleasing than hearing my trombone section blare my ears out in jazz!!!
Incredibly relatable, fellow tenor, sit in front of Trombones, they're all not very good and out of tune and just pain
@@T-Vivid-T yes! this is so real! mine has this really annoying attention seeker and hes the best player currently so i cant do anything about it
Put it in 2x speed and you got yourself Bebop
A rather microtonal bebop :D
@@petedavid5127 it clearly doesnt

Reminded me of super Mario brothers
Bro thanks that was fun ngl
I just got into Jazz 1 (Trumpet) and Jazz 2 (Trombone) my freshmen year of high school, and this has been a major help so far with the blues scale, improvising, and solos. This video is amazing!!!
Woah 😮, Congrats dude, that’s great🎉
Thanks for this!!! I play trombone, and I like listening to this while I practice. It helps a lot!!!
Same I play trombone!

Bones ftw

Same here, working on improv
Thank you so much. im a trombone player and i needed something that i could do a jazz improve to and this worked great!
Literally my exact thoughts
For jazz band auditions, our director makes us improv to this track (I play clarinet) I find it really fun sometimes as long as I don't mess up (he gives us a specific scale to use)
Yeah! I'm an alto sax, and I wanna audition for honor jazz in my district, so I have to do Concert Bb Blues improv. I can say I'm getting better.
Good god I'm playing jazz my mind is blown. 😮
Same
This is such a wonderful track, I use it all the time. If I were to make one suggestion I would change it up a little near the end so it isn't super repetitive. Other than I love it! Can't believe you only 157k subscribers, you deserve more.
I’m listening to this to help me write in a classy atmosphere 😊
Haven't picked up my horn in a long time, and this track made it seem like putting on an old pair gloves. Many thanks
as a trombonist i wrote many song over this and improved my improvisational ability.
Thanks! Your whole playlist of backing tracks is a huge help.
This is the best track ever!!! What a great mix of jazz and blues and such a perfect tempo for those of us who aren't quite that fast! Love it - thanks!
jazz and blues are the same thing on the contrary of what people saying
*currently trying to make a clarinet solo to this, wish me luck 😋*
Fell you
Post vid or it didn't happen!
I wish u good luck!❤️
Clarinet gang
This probably is the wrong place to ask but HOW DO YOU EVEN DO IMPROV 😭
use a scale and play different notes on it
Learn a Major or Pentatonic scale and mess around with the different notes
Use the chord tones of each chord as reference let your ears guide you. Start in .50x speed
just get the feel of the background and let your ears do the talking through your instrument
Essence of improv is to put yourself on a stage and show everyone your musical domain and interpretation
Thanks a ton! We did this in Jazz band and I do it at home all the time playing along with my saxophone 🎷😁
thank you thank you thank you so so much. i have a 24 bar improv solo in band coming up and this helped me so much. I cannot thank you enough. Love this! Thanks for posting.
That’s like the most fun I’ve had on the guitar...and I’ve been playing for 12 years lol that’s so cool
same on piano, ive been playing for 4 years but tonight i discovered this video wanting to look more into backing tracks and i had fun like crazy! I'm slowly getting passionate about jazz and blues
hello
Thanks a lot! My band teacher uses this for our B flat major blues scale. We were having a blues conversation with our instruments, each taking turns for 4 measures improvising with this track. It was fun.
Cool ! This is a great exercise :-)
So does our jazz band. We do that sometimes as well. We do improvising as a warm up.
Just for fun try playing G blues down a minor third.. I do Georgia on my mind jazz version in F maj. Playing around in D blues sounds great. I especially like playing it over the Bb7 four dominant chord. I don't know how it will sound.
This is absolutely the best way to practice I'm getting better already
Tiffany Rudd Agree excellente
Thank you for sharing this. Its a goldmine of information for a bass player. Thanks!
for one chorus XD
Thanks for making this. I’m an alto sax player and i use it all the time
Thanks this helped me not look bad when i did my solo in middle school ha ha those where the times.
I love working on improve with this track!
Why would someone dislike this? Like, I actually don't understand.
I love this stuff. I'm in a middle school jazz band and this is really helpful for my soloing skills. THANK YOU!
Bryan The Memenga I feel u bro I’m a guitarist for jazz
So good! I could jam to it all day love Bb
Played this while learning clarinet improv. Really great!
ATTENTION : Ce Bb Blues pourrait provoquer un stress répétitif pour certains musiciens qui l’aimeraient trop!
Martin tu es diabolique...

Gonna use this at my improv recital tonight!
This is amazing for practicing soloing over, thanks so much!
I was playing along on the chords on the piano... Enjoyed improv on piano and it was fun on guitar. I forgot that the % sign was a good review..I am going to review the video.
i am currently a trombone player in middle school and my band teacher has us play to this song every morning best music i heard
Thanks! clarinet player here, needed this.
This is nice, been ripping some sax solos makimg me feel good
Soloing over this is a blast and really helps thanks a lot!
Just started jazz last week. I thought “yo all the other kids are doing improv why not try?” I picked b flat blues scale. Pulled this up. Just played. And it was the most fun I’ve had in such a long time with music. Insane
it's something that can make you happy for a lifetime...take it from an old old man.
David Ferrara dang actually? Crazy

I love this backing track sooo much❤️ i improvises to it all the time ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very useful for practicing solos on any instrumet (even bass :3)
This is just what I was looking for thanks
I have a question for anyone. So I found the Bflat Dorian scale to fit, and not the Bflat major. It definitely doesn't sound like an Aflat major tune because of the root tone but it still falls on that scale. I guess I don't understand how something could use two different scales but be in the same key. I'm probably missing something but would it be more accurate to say this is in Bflat Dorian or is that extenuous?
It's a good question, and a very common on. I have a video about it but it's in french : ua-cam.com/video/LFGRE2eBb8g/v-deo.html
Here's my anwser : the key chord here is Bb7, not Ab, hence all the notes you play sound relatively to this Bb7 (Ab sounds like a m7 and Bb like a root). Thinking "the Ab major scale" doesn't help you memorizing the feeling (or "role") that each note will have, but thinking everything relatively to Bb (the Bb dorian mode) will help you. So you have to learn this dorian mode like if it's a new scale, and memorise the interval and sound of each note. For this topic, the theory that you know doesn't help you because you think about "the major scale this mode comes from" and this is something you want to slightly get away from :-) I hope this helps
@@guitareimprovisation Thanks!
Thanks great for practising improvisation
The best track for practise! Thanks for posting.
Sarebbe bello vederne lo spartito :-)
You spelled practice wrong. It's spelled with a "C", not a "S".
This is excellent. Did this a number of times..sounded better almost every time ..I am exploring scales over it ..I like to throw a little blues in the improv, but lightly sprinkle it in the tune.. I suspect the Dom dimminished scale has a place some where in this..I want to check it out for sub chords. The quality is great. BTW guitar player also.
@@williamjones3301 It can be both. I googled it.
I love this!
Great practice video
Great track! Use this for jazz band.
The 4th best song I have ever heard in my life
Put it in 2x speed and you got yourself music you will hear in spongebob
Nice nice! Thank you!
I’m gonna have a workshop on jazz blues in an hour. Doing some warmup here before the action. Great backtrack!

Great track. Played here for hours with my horn.
Make that last Cm7 in the turnaround a C7 (a Dominant chord). Both versions are good!
This is such a wonderful
Thanks for this
Thank you really was swinging to this! Much w
Thanks you so much for this🙏🏾
I am getting flashbacks to playing in jazz band
Super ! Merci beaucoup Martin.
Ima jazz piano and idk if this is the right backing track for my class but it’s still great for improv
as a trumpet player it also works extremely well
Fun to play along to
Did a video with this and few other of your tracks. Really like the quality. I will have some up tonight. I definitely am keeping this link and plan to share it with my jazz and blues afficionados.
Can you post some?
@@johnosullivan6620 Ill have to look arround...Im searching right now.
John 1st..Thx for the request. I have many blues videos. Some I play piano over backing tracks, some are guitar over the result.
Just put another one up. I realistically have done 50 or so blues videos..Some are primarily teaching exercises. Also I have play along blues videos.. they usually started as Backing tracks.I'm pretty happy with most.
I am working on putting up a sampler.. All my stuff ain't gems.
Not a pro..but have always enjoyed playing and teaching..
@@johnosullivan6620 John I think I used this backing track on piano and possibly guitar. Ill check.. if not I can do another..Ill try to do a little teaching. I think I have it already. Ill try to send you a link.

this also works for alto sax
i use this in my jazz band and just jam for hours
wanna play random notes on the jazz scale and make it sound good?
use this
Lir Wood me too I’m a lot sax and I do jazz band
This is great!
This song changed my life
I’m confused on what notes you play when improvising. If the chord is C7, do you only have to play the notes in the C7 scale? So C, D, E, F, G A, Bb, C? Or do you have to only play the notes in a Bb blues scale
Play to the chord. So yes for C7 play C mixolydian. For the G7 it would be best to play a G mixolydian but with a flat 9 and flat 13 in the scale (otherwise known as harmonic dominant). You can always do some altered scales for dominant chords tho or add a flat 9 when resolving to the next chord
@@davidlasebnik4409 I just this message now thank you for clearing things up!

Very good!..I'm improvise on the piano.

I just finished a one hour solo session with this thing on loop, turns out, it's hard to remember things when you're switching between horn, trumpet and trombone #brass4life
Nice backing track
My band teacher is using this for a jazz ensemble.
Wow what a nice backingtrack. Thank you so much.
I think it is so much backing track
Thank you for the Bes schema , the most blues are in A , D or E (I know , the most guitarist dont know better)
This is a jazz blues, so most often in F, Bb, Eb.
super fun to improvise too! thanks
cool, tnx man
My band teacher uses this so I thought I would look at it and now it is stuck in my head😂
