I love Bill Pullman. The role is custom made for him. His facial expressions - the movement of his eyes tell us so much about Ambrose. Pullman carries it off magnificently. I don’t think anyone else could carry it off the way he does.

This show is so much more than a murder mystery "why" show and I think those people who don't like season 3 don't understand this. This show is steeped in psychology human nature, exploration of trauma and it's effect on people Freudian and Jungian psychology, philosophy like nihilism. Season 3 is all about character exploration, exploration of human nature and it's experience, mental denigration, humanity, existence, bias. Each season I was watching I was very interested at the philosophical and psychological content they were putting in. Each season is so unique. I love this show, but seasons 3 was amazing!

Agreed. I love s3. Jamie Burns was a man having a mental health crisis who was failed by stigma and the system and the people around him and initially triggered by someone who was emotionally abusive. I like how they’re willing to make Harry imperfect, and his unqualified attempts at intervening went so wrong and his single-minded need to punish a man who let his abuser die out of fear contributed to the spiral that flipped a switch in him that turned him homicidal. I like how they carry Harry’s guilt over that into s4, even though nobody else blamed him. The whole build up of Jamie’s breakdown is masterfully done, both in writing and performance. Matt Bomer gets robbed of an Emmy AGAIN.

This season has stuck with me the most. First, through Season 1 & 2, I questioned the authenticity of Bill's character but season 3 showed he was genuine.
Bloomer's predicament really got to me. The poor guy was probably disillusioned, what with his first child on the way, or for whatever reason wanted to feel the drive of existence again. He sought a dangerous friend who he felt had all the answers. Worse, he was more convinced of his friend's authority on life and death after watching his friend die.
This season brought out so many emotions for me. I felt even worse at the end, when Bill cried. It was as if for the first time in his career he failed in his attempt to do the right thing.
This season was real, raw, and artful. I am grateful to all involved for creating it.

Mental manipulation is no joke when your naive and vulnerable. I actually had a similar experience to young Jamie. I had a very close "friend" who was a genuine sociopath, but I was quite naive at the time. We did all kinds of dangerous and stupid stuff. It was a very much "live fast, die young" type attitude. We're all going to die, may as well live staring down the barrel of death, and go out doing something wild, rather than old and decrepit.
When I finally realized how toxic our relationship/lifestyle was, I cut him out and I had a massive identity crisis. Fucked me up for a long time. Life still doesn't feel quite the same years later.
While I have definitely done a lot of self reflection since then and moved completely away from that old line of thinking, I can see how it would drive someone to snap.

Season 3 wasn´t bad, i really liked it but it is not as good as season 1 or 2 that were amazing. Yeah, season 3 wasn´t as complicated as the first 2, there wasn´t as much surprising factors, it was a more simply history but i think it was more about how Jamie managed this mental problem and how it destroyed it. Also, the season 3 has an "danger factor" that doesn´t existed on season 1 or 2, on this one the criminal was free so it was unpredictable and could happen anything, he really endangered harry's life while in the season 1 or 2, cora and the kid were in jail and the whole show was about their issuis and Harry investigating them. On this season, everything was happening in "real time".

  • @Mike.Cebert
    @Mike.Cebert 4 роки тому +20

Disappointed with this season as I see many others are. First two episodes were decent in setting up the context but after that it went downhill pretty quick although the finale was OK. Just boring and too much philosophical rambling with no real connections overall. And I thought him and his buddy were hiding some dark secret when all it was, was just some weird, sadistic rituals that they both got off on. I think they tried hard in avoiding clichés but it was too abstract for its own good

Although now having gone back and watched one of the early series i can see how the way this story was told was a departure from how it had been done before. Love all the seasons of this show. Season 3 was different yes and that’s something I liked about it. Shows that keep the same flow season after season can get redundant. Season 3 was more philosophical and had a more psychological approach to the characters instead of just.. who did the crime and Ambrose navigating around trying to figure it out himself. Ambrose was already an older detective that didn’t have his shit together and now he throws himself into his work but when he does that he gets caught up in this emotional rollercoaster relationship with Jamie while trying to get eveidence on him for his case. It becomes personal for him. I didn’t find it boring, if you like mind turning things or intrigued by psychology in anyway then u probably would like this season. If you want a cut and dry detective crime type show, you might not like season 3.

Casper is great, seen it, on Halloween. Not bad... watched Lake Placid, also all of them. Pretty kool. And Independence Day 1, and 2 Resurgence. I love alien movies. Part 1 and 2 is super awesome, I watch Independence Day everyday when its the fourth of July or Christmas or New Year's Eve. Seriously! I'm kind of a dork who's always interested in technology. Still. U got to enjoy the action. UR amazing Bill. Full support. May the Peace be with u Bill Pullman. From Harlingen Texas. December 17, 1953

People didn't appreciate season 3....well, I wish there would be more seasons but on the other hand maybe 4 seasons are enough before they risk a quality drop.

It's actually freaky how much he looks like a Pullman. And I mean Pullman probably 10 times removed. He looks exactly like my Pullman relatives in Australia and NZ.

JUST FINISHED THIS SEASON. THE PERFORMANCES WERE EXCEPTIONAL...BUT THE STORY LINE WAS SO STUPID. THE WHOLE CHASING FATE/DEATH THING. SO DUMB. I WAS DISAPPOINTED.

Honestly thought it was poor compared to first 2. Just too many ridiculous situational set ups...sloppy writing and i felt pullmans facial mannerisms became hilarious

steve tobin totally agree..The 1st 2 seasons at least made sense. This 3rd season was messy and nonsensical.

[spoilers] Season 3 sucks, what a waste of their talent. The characters act so illogically it hurts to watch. Unbelievably poor detective work, and guess what, instead of making Bomer's character pay for his actions and actually get mental health treatment they just decided to kill the guy. Lame. Seasons 1 and 2:gold. They should've ended there.

@@Joy_49 Me either! Just watched the last episode, it was so emotional and catchy. BUT I have to admit that the detective work wasn´t the strongest sometimes xD In general it is still gold.

Season 3 is the best. Deeper and risky. Ambrose go to his limit. I loved. And the characters act are logical according to their personal struggles and obssessions

All I can say is if you treat this series , especially this season as murder mystery, you will be so disappointed. I love murder mystery, but after watching this season I give it an 7 out of 10.
